Title: Gaming Advice:What Should I Rent?
Post by: Big_Duke on April 29, 2006, 04:43:43 PM
My limits are Xbox and PS2 Games.

Any good games you've heard of or seen? My target is Blockbuster, and I've played just about every Xbox game on the shelves. Most of what I haven't played are sports games. I have played some sports games, all of them basketball.

Any new and/or good ones out there?

I've looked for Half-Life, but it's out every time I try it.

Even though I have played it, how bout Counter Strike 1?

Blockbuster? Come on. But if you wanna get ripped off go ahead.

Yeah, I know, but I have the game pass thing.
So every game I rent is pretty much free.

I hate renting games, for the price of renting a game, I could buy a used game.

If you've already played most games on the shelf, perhaps its time to find something else to do with your time?

I meant on the shelves for Xbox.
Sorry, for not being specific.

PS2 and XBOX? One thing:

Fugitive Hunter: War on Terror.

Might not sound too interesting, but try it; it's a great FPS.

I hate blockbuster. They overprice. Now Hastings is awesome. $1 game and movie rentals. Some of the rentals are actually free on the shelf to rent, no condition.

Dude, don't bother with Half-Life 2 on XBox. It sucks. WAY too much auto-aim (yes, it is possible) graphics that seem a bit drab in comparison to the low settings on the computer, somewhat weaker sound (still bearable, though), loading screens every few steps (or at least it seems like it), NO multiplayer of anykind, and kinda wonky controls. I don't have it, but my friend does. I've played it, but I can't stand it. And Counter-Strike is only worth renting if you have XBox Live and patience. It's no proper replacement for the PC version, but it's still fun once you get used to aiming right. I would buy it, if you're willing to go that far. $15 used. Or less. And I can't even find a new copy of it.Oh, and Half-Life 1 on PS2 is alright once you learn to love the lock-on button. That's fun if you can find it. And it has a short co-op game if you can find a friend, and still interesting to play alone.

Get the New Castlevaina (sp?)

I rented that for 3 days and I beat it (after buying it >_<) 5 days after that, so it's decent length, and IMO, one of the better ones GAMEPLAY wise. For plot, it sucks.

That's where you live.

Hastings are overall fags when they come to game renting. ($6-$7)

And renting games is good.

One: If I can beat it between the rental period there's no need for me to buy it, unless I loved it. (like SSBM)

Two: It's just to good to see if a game is good or not. I don't want games that stack on my shelves that I never play.

Three: You play a lot more games if you rent.

So keep on renting. If you enjoy RPGs, rent any of the Xenosagas, or if you prefer a shooting game, Resident Evil 4 for PS2

Ranting games... you guys still have that?
All the movie rental places around here stoped it years ago, about when they made the PS1. Why? 'cause it was better to buy a pirate game than to rent one many times, plus no one here exactly knows what the word "please do not scratch" means.
Result: There's only one place that rent games, but only PSX games, and half of them doesn't work anymore. I'm just waiting, 'cause sooner or later they'll do that "if you rent a game, you can have it" promotion they do when things doesn't pay off anymore.

If I only knew of a pirate selling place... then I could trully say renting sucks.

Renting games nowadays is great. You rent it, get the data on your mem card and buy it later. I never used to rent though. Youd get the cartridge and get like an awesome item, and have to TAKE IT BACK!

XD where I live, there's something called "Camelão" (the "Big Camel" in english) it's a place with 60 or so stores with only falsified things, never stolen, but all falsified, and you know what is weird? The government SUPPORTS this place, even though most of the people doesn't pay (all) the taxes. I guess the logic is that if there's ever a reason to stop 'em, it'll be better if you know where they are.
Besides, there's almost no store that sells original games here, so I guess the government also thinks "Hey, they won't buy from us anyway, let's let them buy from others" it keeps people in line, as once they have a job they wont need to steal, and plus it already became a touristic attraction from nearby cities.

You can... but it would cost more than renting, for sure.

I whole-heartedly agree!

I don't rent, I research. Then I buy what's good. Thus, I have too many games for my own good. But at least it's a collection of GOOD games.

I live in Florida.

Going to Brasil would be like a 4-9 hr. trip.

Then it'd be a 14-20 hour trip.

You surely wouldn't be able to return in the same day.

I bought Dark Cloud 1, so I can never have a collection of good games, ever :(

Well, don't count it as your collection. Count that as your "aquired property". I don't count many of my old games, they're just aquirements. I've only had to do such a thing twice within recent memory: With "Pariah" (terrible, or prob'ly NO story, and a somewhat under-sensitive control scheme), and "Resident Evil: Deadly Silence" (playing as a poorly voice-acted excuse for a combat expert who didn't think to bring a gun along, moves in the ost awkward manner possible, and wastes ammo by never aiming at the head adds up to a piece of trash that isn't even big enough to make a coaster out of). They're not worth being part of my collection.
