Post by: enso on May 04, 2006, 06:32:44 AM
DOWNLOAD
Full Version 1.1 (http://www.ensosoft.techas.lt/h/tbg11.zip)

NOTES
It's a small RPG made for The GW Short RPG Contest and it includes about 2-3 hours of gameplay.

STORY
In a post-apocalyptic world survivors of mankind live in wasteland and ruined cities. The only law in such a chaotic society is a military group calling themselves 'The Crusaders'. The organisation fight against 'demons' (that's how they call mutated radiation victims) and rebeling 'heretics'. All the opposition are unmercifully burned by a special squad of 'executioners'. The primary goal of crusaders is to discover 'The Burning Grail' which was lost long time ago, the ultimate weapon against their foes.

The main hero Vick is one of the crusaders. He lives in the headquarters with his sister and is quite devoted to his duty. One day during the ordinary scout mission Vick discovers something shocking that forces him to quit The Crusaders and join the forces with his former enemies...

GAMEPLAY
The game itself is very similar to Riviera on GBA. A single click of directional button sends the hero to the other map, comments on object, etc:

BATTLES
The battle system is based on items. During the adventure you get a certain number of weapons which you can use in battles like items. For example, if you have 5 sniper rifles it means that you can use it 5 times and then it expires. If you are short on items you can always go for unarmed combat:

For some of you battles may seem too difficult but it is made on purpose. You must choose wisely on what skills spend your skill points.

OTHER FEATURES
Custom message box is twice as small as default. There are also speech bubbles that indicate the person who is speaking:

For every killed enemy you get skill ponts that can be spend at the skill section. SP here stands for Skill Points where the first number is available points by now and the second - all the skill points you've earned so far:

There is also a racing-shooting minigame where you shoot at chasing enemies:

You can turn ON/OFF message box sound by clicking '1'.

Wow! Good game :D and although it doesn't really let you serch the screen that much you make it difficult in the battles *appluades*
i only died 1 time before i understood the battle system and skill point system. nice ending screen too ^_^ and funny music for the end song lol.
oh and i take it you happen to be a chrono tigger music fan ^_^ lots of good midi's from chrono trigger (my personal favorite game ever)

on a rating scale, graphics good, storyline alright.
overall i'd give it about an 8/10 ^_^

I'll play it in a bit. Looks great.

Played to the end of the sewers. Great so far. The battles are really hard, but once I found the skill level up system the game really became a jem. I'm looking forward to playing the rest later.

Cutscenes and charsets in particular are great.

The car racing game is really damn good. Thumbs up on that one. I played a little bit of the rest last night, not bad so far. I'm not sure I like the battle system, would've been cooler as an ABS, but still it's okay. The storyline is interesting, to atleast a 9/10, the maps are very well put togethers and I liek the text, conventional and believable. I'll tell you what I think of it when I finish it.

I played it, and liked it, but geez is it hard. Or maybe I just suck. Anyway, the game is really great; I certainly had fun!

Yeah, I know that battles are hard but the characters completely recover after each battle and always get skill points. And skills are really great help.

Um, actually you're the first person who encountered such a strange problem. The game was tested on computers which don't have RTP and it worked perfectly, no files were missing...

I played up to the sewers. Good job! This is a really cool game. It's a great concept, and I see you've applied all your great RM movie making skills to it!

Does anyone remember that old thread I made about making a finished games sticky? Well, could this be a first entry? ;)

Interesting game so far...and an interesting choice of music for the intro.  Did you get that idea from the movie "Good Morning Vietnam"?

Please look at the date of the topic before you post. This topic has been dead for about a month now.

So what? Half of the topics here are being revived after a month or two... I'm working on version 1.1 now and it may take a while.

I don't really remember that movie so I guess the answer is no. There was a similar song in the intro of Fallout and that inspired me to put something similar in my game.

It's called a kick, and it's against the rules. If you wish to bring your own topic back, that's fine, but someone else does not do it for you.

Enso, I was just wondering because there is a scene in that movie where a warzone is being shown and that song is played over it...it just seemed very similar.

Meiscool, my apologies if I broke the rules.  There is a topic set as a sticky that links to this topic thread and promotes it rather prominently.  If we aren't meant to post here my question would be, why is it being promoted?

They are completed games, not game advertizements. Don't try to pin you not reading the rules before posting on someone else.

Excuse me, but I did read the rules, and you are putting words in my mouth which is not very appropriate, to say the least.  I was not 'blaming' anyone else for anything I was just pointing out a fact.

There is nothing in the rules that defines what old is, but a post that was a fairly recent does not match that category by definition, especially given that posts of similar age are still showing up on the front page.  This was not an old post, and you exaggerated rather grossly the age of the post, obvious to anyone looking at the dates.  I was not going back pages and pages and randomly bumping a thread from ages ago.  I did nothing wrong but I apologized to you anyway for the sake of getting along, and still you insult me, I guess just for the fun of it - something that clearly is against the rules - it says not to flame.  The creator of this game and I are having a rational discussion about it, which is on topic, and you show up and add nothing to it but insults to us both.  There's only one person posting here that has done anything disruptive, and it isn't Enso or me.

I have no beef with you and I have no idea why you want to just show up and pick fights with someone who has never done anything to you.   Do you just like picking on newbies or what?  Let's just get along, okay?

The rules on the front page, which should be read by all members when joining, mention that a topic kick is posting in a topic that is a week + old. The reason the topic is in the Completed Games thread with the game download is so you can get information on the game. The creator is the only one who can bump the thread for updates, so keep that in mind. And Meiscool, I thank you for helping out while I was gone, but try not to mini mod, please.
