Title: Moogles
Post by: Shady Ultima on May 22, 2006, 11:55:38 PM
I realized that Moogles never look the same in two games. In FF7, they're large (albeit there's only dolls of them), in FFTA they have huge ears, in Kingdom hearts they have huge heads, in FFCC they're little fluff balls.

So why do they change them?

The Chocobos always look the same, so why are the moogles different? I haven't played many of the actual Final Fantasy series 1 - 11, but the ones I have they're different.

Because as graphics evolve, so do designs. Tell me, has Link ever looked the same after upgrading to the next system?

lawl so true.

In FFU, the moogles look like cats. at least it looked like a moogle. The final fantasy freak i live with told me so.

Chocobos haven't been changed because they are classics.

Moogles are like the Cids. They're there to keep a standing, and that's it. They can be changed, whatevered, ect.

I thought they looked similar enough... I really didn't notice too much change in them (except that some were fluffier than others and that they may or amy not have weird bat wings), but I feel that has something to do with animation style (Kingdom Hearts has a very distinct appearance that is reflected upon the mogs perfectly). I thought that the chocobos changed a lot more in recent years than the moogles ever did. Mebe I'm just weird like that... kupo.

The only time there has ever been a real difference in chocobos was in 10 I think, they weren't as cute and cuddly as before. All warlike...although it may be a different game I'm talking about, prolly 12..hmm..

Square Enix hates moogles.

I don't. I   them.

Hm, no, I kinda agree with Shady...Moogles are as classic as chocobos. They´ve been in all FFs right? Somehow they should be one entity that look the same, always. It´s not about design or graphics, it´s about the things they did imagine in the first place...that´s me though.

Yeah, as true as that may be, you can't undo countless Final Fantasies.

Actually, Moogles haven't been in all of the Final Fantasies--I played Dawn of Souls, and neither FFI or FFII has moogles. FFI goes further by not having Chocobos, either--they appeared for the first time in FFII, and you could only get them from one remote spot.

Moogles weren't huge in FF7. That was Cait Sith's Mog. If you played the moogle game at the Wonder Square, you would know.

I love FFIX moogles. They're at least a part of the game there.

The moogles in FF6,7,I think 8,9, and kindom hearts are the same.
Shady fails for not seeing this.

Also, the first summon is a moogle riding a chocobo, and he's fairly small too.

Also moogles can fly in FF7, they can't do that in any of the other FFs. and as Mid said the chocobo design does change eventually too (although seldom).

First Moogles appeared in FF6. Also, in FF6-7-9 they were similiar. I didn't play FF8, so, I don't know what they look like.

Were Moogles in SoM first, or FF6?

Yeah, that makes sense. Chocobos have been with FF sence FF4, correct?

They´re like Woody Woodpecker: smetimes they´re small, and sometimes they´re big (anyone ever noticed that??)

Chocobo's you mean?

I didn't notice much of a differance in them  :|

But really, I think its cool that the games update their designs, it makes the indevidual games more unique. If they looked the exact same from game to game (even with updated gfx), I think they would lose their touch. The same goes for everything like that. Summons for example, if every game had shiva or bahamut going though the same motions, it wouldn't be as cool as if each game they had their own unique motions.

Actually, moogles were first in FF3j. Chocobos were first in FF2j. Research your stuff before you post it, dudes. :)

I also tend to agree with DB; if they didn't change, it would be like "Damn, more of the same boring FF stuff."

Never played 6, 8, or 9

And I completely forgot about the mog mini game there. They don't have as big heads as in KH though.

I don't think they should change though. That's like Disney changin the look of Donald or Goofy for everything they do. (been playing KH, so sorry for Disney reference) I did notice that the chocobo's are looking more warlike - but I noticed that in FFXI mostly. The difference is, they're still a huge bird with yellow feathers, where the moogle seems to change its shape and size like crazy. I mean, the only 3 things they all have in common is the wings, the lil ball on the head and the white coloured fur. (If im wrong, its cause I haven't played a lot of FF's)
I think it ruins the consistency. I agree that the summon's should do different things though. But that is completely different. Ifrit looks the same in every game, just has a different move pattern (again, if im wrong i don't care)

O well, that's just my opinion on it.

I just played FF2 Dawn of Souls and finished it today... and I don't remember a single damn *wark*.

They're only in a small patch of forest by Castle Kas'ion, as I remember. It's square-shaped... just like FF4's Chocobo Forests.

They don't add that much to the game... just a limited method of transport.

FF2 on Dawn of Souls was made easy. The original was hard...

Yeah, MIC, you didn't look hard enough.
"Final Fantasy II

Chocobos first appeared in the game Final Fantasy II. They were colored pink, as opposed to the later yellow, and were found at only one point in the game. Updated versions of the game for the WonderSwan Color, PlayStation, and Game Boy Advance recolored the chocobo yellow."

Chocobos do change. In FFT, they look somewhat fat, and doesn't look so fast. In FF9, they look skinny. The eyes change too, and sometimes the head.

I liked that game. It was tons of fun when my friend and I ran through the world killin' whatever came our way, and there were good times making fun of the "Field of Fum". :D Sure, it didn't have a brilliant story, but it was still fun, and that was the whole point. And yes, I've seen the chocobo in Dawn of Souls. But I'm still irritated with the game...
