Title: How'd you hear about RPG Maker?
Post by: aboutasoandthis on June 08, 2006, 12:09:39 AM
Once upon a time, I'd say over 5 years ago, I had a friend who was playing FF8. I played the game for a bit, then decided get it. It was sold out so I got FF7 which blew me away because it was the first RPG that I had fun with. (I was always playing fighting and racing games. I already had FF4 at the time but I didn't like it. I didn't even here about FF6 for years.)
I went back to Best Buy, they still didn't have FF8 but I saw the Playstation RPG Maker instead. It said you could create your own RPG games. I got it and tried to make a FF7 Clone. It wasn't fun, wasn't done, and it sucked.
A month later, I looked over the net to try and sell it (Like I knew what I was doing). I found RPG Maker 2000 through google and downloaded it. It was a lot more fun and easier to use. I think the first game I played was Legion Saga 2.
How'd you hear about it?

BTW: My fanboyed clones from my first game are still there as Gale and Colt. They have new personalities and no intentional refrences to Cloud and Sephiroth though.

Like 5-6 years ago a friend of mine had RM2K on his comp. I would use it on his for about a year, then he deleted it. I got RM2K a few years later and voila.

About a year and a half ago, my friend (DarkFlood2, to be specific) told me that he was making an RPG. About a year ago, he gave me a copy of his [strike]terrible[/strike] game, along with a copy of the RM2K3 installer. Shortly after, I joined the forums 'round these parts.

Thus, the legendary tale of Archem2 is told.

I saw the RPG Maker for Playstation and bought it. Then one of my friends showed me RM2k, which is LOADS better than that crappy Playstation one. :p

I played part of a game I got from download.com.com. When I saw that it was made with Rm2k, I searched and then downloaded it.

I still have the PSX RPGmaker, too. Never used it once. It looks brand new. Now, fighter maker on the other hand...

Also I think I played that same game!

Well, about one and a half year ago...Or maybe even 2 years...Well anyway mybrother went to visit our cousin, we always borrow games from him, well my brother borrow them but make me play for him...
But, I always used to make maps with the Heroes oMaM III mapmaker, it was easy, sweet and I ruled. Then I started too play Warcraft III and began to make maps there too. WellŽ, I played some of my maps with my cousin while he visited us last time so he knew what I could do.
So when my brothere visisted him he transfered the rpgmaker to my brothers Mp3 and I put it on my computer and 'Ta-da'.

Then after the computer chrash a year ago I found the rpgmaker on the web after alot of searching and I joined Charas.

I don't remember. I was doing something with Kazaa (looking for a 2D RPG I guess) when I saw it and downloaded it. It was the spanish version though... and it wasn't untill about 2 years passed that I got the english version. Course, I didn't really start using it untill I got the english version.

About three eyars ago, I was searching for an FF6 ROM, and I found some sort of RM game using FF graphics. "RPG Maker" intrigued me, so I searched it up on MSN, and found a link to RM2K. I joined a few forums, asked for help and such, and ended up downloading RM2K3 and finding Charas. Woot.

About 5 years ago I was on a school computer and I found a RM2k Game on it. I played it and later searched for the program. 5 years later, here I am. Thanks to that I do what I do now since that program got me to come here, and then I met some people here and now I am a web designer. I think now, if I didnt  ever play that game, download RPG maker, come here. I wouldnt know and do everything I can do now, or know all the friends I've made. wierd. one action can cause a bigger one.

searched ascii on google for boredom because looking for info on rpg maker ps after playing some knights quest game or something, don't remember. thats when the tale.......ah forget it. as i was saying, after that i found don miguel having a illegally translated download of rm2k. and so on. Then RPG Advocate
came along and translated rm2k3, since don was in jail or something, i don't know. Thus the new generation of RPG Maker was born with such classic rpg maker games. And my "incomplete projects that keep restarting itself" thats strange, because i suck. but love to search and "save as" resources on sites. I mostly go to those Japanese ones, well and the main site monitor now temporary down, or forever. Since i enjoy people's games and community, and try to at least improve on making more then a two map project and scrapping after. and repeating process.  _sweat_

and thus how the benos tale started, then a evil warlord took over the lands in 1,000 years cliche time. kidding.

I saw an ad for the playstation one in a Tips and Tricks magazine and I bought it as soon as it came out. A little while later, I was looking on google for cheats for rpg maker (now that I think about it, it doesn't make much sence...), but anyway, I heard about rm2k that way. A couple of months later, I actually found the download for it, and I was on my way.

A friend introduced me to rm2k three years ago. I've no clue where he got it from though. I found rm2k3 on google half a year later and joined Charas.
