Title: Pokemon disobediance
Post by: Desimodontidae on June 20, 2006, 12:43:14 AM
Allright. So in Red Blue and Yelow (and maybe the new ones, I wouldnt know) the badges have have attributes like "Pokemon up to level 30 will obey you" It could be a coincidence but I've never had this problem of a pokemon not obeying me. What does this mean?
Title:
Post by: SonicChaos7 on June 20, 2006, 12:49:43 AM
It means for pokemon that have been received through a trade will obey you at a certain level. They will obey you until the first badge is received, then traded pokemon will begin to disobey you.

Like you get a level 75 Charizard from a friend and want to use it to own one of the trainers, say Erika (I believe she's the plant one). Well, at that point in the game, you do not have a badge strong enough to prove that you have the skill to handle such a strong pokemon. Helps prevent cheating by giving a low level player some high level pokemon from another game.

Like they said, it'll just not use the move you told it to or struggle.

Hmm... I remember on occassion I raised its level too high and it wouldn't obey me. I think they might give you around a 5 level grace period or so.

Ahhh, I miss the old Pokemon days.  Care-free, the most important thing to ya was assembling your team to beat someone.

Enough remincerizing.

In case anyone was wondering, the higher the level does not affect the rate of "not-doing-what-it's-told-ness".  A level 31 pokemon, only 1 level over the limit, will not attack the same amount as a level 83 pokemon.  I discovered this during my Pokemon Guru of the elementery school yard days, or, about 8 years ago.  It's scarey how this knowledge sticks with you after all this time.  In fact, I bet I can still name off any pokemon you show me a picture of.

Ahh, but how exactly do they not obey? Do they just not attack when you tell them to or what?
Title:
Post by: Cerebus on June 20, 2006, 01:45:32 AM
That's what they did for me. I made them attack, but they did nothing.

There are multiple ways:

1.) *Name* Went to sleep! (It goes to sleep, duh.)
2.) *Name* instead used *Attack*! (Instead of using...slash, it uses leer.)
3.) *Name* used Struggle! (It uses struggle in stead, duh #2.)
4.) *Name* is loitering! (or something, basically it doesn't do anything)

Those are the only four I've gotten.  Feel free to add to the list is anyone else feels like it.

Struggle hurts itself, right?
It's been so long since I've played those games. @_@

Yes, struggle hurts itself.
It also has been a long time since i last played as well, but seeing as how the games were a big part of my life for like...5 years, I can't help by remember all this stuff :P.

Man I remeber when I found the Missing no. Glitch and caught a Snorelax I got him to lvl 125 using item dup and he wouldn't listen to me. -.- But when he did...instant KO. :vict:

And I remember my level 1 flying Kangaskahn that was nigh invincible, but I was always afraid to try him out in Pokemon Stadium for fear that the glitch would screw up my games. Those were the good old days...

Level 999 Aerodactyl bitch. I LOVED that glitch.

They way it works is if anyone who was under 15 during the 90's says they never liked pokemon, they're liars. I remember my Red ver lv 100 charizard "Redd". Named my charizard of Fire Red "Redd II' XD

To get back on the disobedience topic, your starter pokemon will ALWAYS obey you, no matter what, because your first pokemon is always the one you have the strongest connection with.
Title:
Post by: Razor on June 20, 2006, 10:34:07 AM
I beg to differ. If you raise it too high before you get the first badge what makes pokoman listen to you, BAM cancer.

I mean, unruley.
Title:
Post by: GaryCXJk on June 20, 2006, 10:44:14 AM
I once got level high before my first badge with my starter pokemon, and it kept obeying. Everybody on the internet will say the same.

5.) *Pokemon used* is angry. *Pokemon used* attcked *another pokemon you have.*

You didn't get that? I used to get it all of the time. Thankfully, my Alakazam was the one he kept attcking, and Alakazam's defense was through the roof, so no damage.

the highest i've gotten my starting pokemon before the first badge was like 26-28, and at that point is was way stronger than the gyms pokemon, but it would only listen to me like every fifth turn lol (of course getting the pokemon up to that lvl took what felt like forever...
i was acctually trying to see how high i could get it before the first gym battle lol

Yeah, Alakazam was my favorite.  My first to level 100.

As for the MissingNo glitch:
L176 Mewtwo
L155 Wartortle
L199 Scyther
Pimpalicious.

Anyhoo, as previously stated, ALL pokemon YOU catch will obey you regardless of the level.  So if you want, you can spend months leveling your pokemon to level 50, and then fight the first gym leader, and they'll obey every turn.  This thing only applies for traded pokemon, both trades with NPC's in-game, or other people.

The disobeying thing sucked, I'd be like one hit away from wining and my pokemon just start dising me!

The Missingo Glitch owned...except for corrupting your save file when you saved a game with a captured one.

And you can use the glitched Pokemon in pokemon stadium 1&2. I did
*remembers the Days of owning with a Lvl.140 Snorlax that had 2 Hyperbeams, Metronome, and Fire Blast*

Which reminds me...Did anyone know in Blue and Red, JigglyPuff could use fireblast?! I was just screwing around when I gave it to it. Everyone was in for a surprise. hehehehe.

Wait... Misgno means "Missing no."? Because everyone around here thought he was just a really rare pokemon called "Missingno".

Anyway, everytime I got him, it was either a lvl 1 Ditto, a lvl 100 Ditto, a lvl 34 Rapidash or a... Missingno! Yup, it was just like him, but in the left portion of the screen, and it would make talking with people outside the battle say things like "1215~^#5hur$"^, plus you get pictures of pokemon flying and your head is cut in half.

And the game freezez after a while.

Anyway, everytime I got a higher level than 100, and wopn a battle, the pokemon would either go to lvl 1 or 100 again.

 Also, I loved duplicating itens.

Speaking of those glitches, did anyone ever hear the Yoshi glitch in red and blue? Wierd, yet it works. I followed the steps, and it worked.

Since they were released, they were trying to find mew, then some teen picked it up out of boredom and accidentally found out how to get it without trading or a gameshark-type of thing. XD

I always wondered if you could catch mew somewhere or find him through a glitch. I never found him, but that's oaky when you duplicated your LV UP 7 bijillion times and ALL your pokemon are invincible. But then it got boring, until gold and silver came out.
Title:
Post by: Archem on June 20, 2006, 04:15:38 PM
Anyone ever caught a "M."? Well, that's more or less what its name was, considering that the rest of his name was garbled up and unreadable. Also, I have never found Yoshi or Mew, but I bet that was pretty cool. How many of you actually trained all of your pokemon? I only remember getting my Charizard (or in the case of Yellow, Pikachu) to an unstoppable level and watching as the rest were left in the dust at level 23 or so.

Howd you do this(by thise i mean these) ive always wanted to do that. I may have to dust off the old gb fat&gray wiith some pokemon blue version lol.  Where is there like a Pokemon glitch guide?

When I was like 9, i started a new game on pokemon before i went on a trip, and the entire way there, i just built six pokemon up to levl 100 before i went to the first gym, and when I went into the fight, all my pokemon were at level 13, 6, or 66 lol. Whats up with that????

Ive had mew since forever. "Promotional giveaway" my ***.

I wont believe things like the "Yoshi glitch" until I see it in person. Screen shots can be photoshopped. It is not freaking possible to get anything other than 1st gen pokemon on red blue and yellow.

I've never even heard of the yoshi glitch...

I caught all 151 though... I cheated for mew though.. You know the certificate for all 150? It says 151 if you have Mew also..

And you know that truck next to the boat? It does nothing. I got a pokemon with cut from a friend, and skipped the boat until I got a pokemon who could swim... The truck is really there, but it doesn't do anything, trust me.. I sat there for hours trying everything.

Oh, and the glitched up one.. I caught it, didn't destroy my game. I used it in battle to.

I've heard of the Yoshi Glitch.  I attempted it myself, and it didn't work.  I've seen some images though however, but I always thought they were tampered.

The whole Mew deal a lucky friend of mine did the MissingNo (Actually Missing Number, if you didn't know) and caught a level 154 Mew.  Besides, Mew sucks, it's only good because it can learn EVERY TM and HM move.  If you really really really desperatly want one, spring for one of the old gamesharks.  Other than that, it's impossible, as far as I can tell.

One of my favorite glitches was where you could catch, for example, Safari Zone Pokemon without being there. It works with other areas too. I loved it cause I could get any pokemon. Like I fought one of the Snorlaxes, and use the glitch to get 7 Snorlaxes. I love those fat guys.

...or use the mew glitch. Only problem is, it appears at level 7. just duplicate some level ups... was it rare candy?

Yeah, rare candy.

I never had a problem, because I never traded. I did raise my dudes WAY beyond what it said I could controll, but they never didn't do what I told them to do.

The absolute real way to catch Mew (http://tbp.berkeley.edu/~jdonald/pokemon/mewglitch.html)

I have tested this myself. It actually works.

As for yoshi, my friend wished to keep the real way secret. He's dead due to tobacco, so I will respect his wishes.

if you go to number 20, it disproves this theory. but then again it could be wrong.

It doesn't disprove the glitch. It's just that it's so simple, that people overthink it and try to relate yoshi and Dratini, when they are WAY off.

I asked my friend, who is a Pokemon especialist (kinda won 80% of the tournaents he enter, and usually finihs in second if he doesn't wins) apparently pokemons disobey by:

 -Sleeping halfway of battle
 -Using diferent attacks
 -Just ignoring you
 -Attacking allies
-Withdravaw(i cnt sple) from battle (if you have other pokemons, the next one from up-down will be sent)
 -Struggle

Basically, all what Charizard did on the cartoon as soon as he evolved.

Yeah, but it wouldn't be the first time that Nintendo put one of their other main franchises hidden in the codding of another game...

Remember Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time?

There was a fully coded Arwing as an enemy in the rom data of the game.. It attacked and everything.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5446249365599551321

This is true to... You need a Gameshark to acess it though.

Am I the only one who seems to remember that without a Gameshark you can only level a Pokemon to 100, even with Rare Candy? I was wondering why everyone kept on mentioning using the duping glitch to level in the range of 150s...

EDIT: Just tested it. Rare Candy cannot level a Pokemon past level 100. So someone please explain how you get a level 150 Pokemon using the duping glitch?
Title:
Post by: Shady Ultima on June 22, 2006, 12:41:17 AM
Ditto osmose, i never could get past 100, even when i had gameshark... I don't understand that? I figure you're all just lying.
Title:
Post by: Apex on June 22, 2006, 01:16:05 AM
I remember doing it all the way to hex with one pokemon...

Sometimes it will let you do it, other times it won't... That's about all.
It resets if you level them up too much though.. And you don't need a gameshark.
Title:
Post by: ZeroKirbyX on June 22, 2006, 01:19:10 AM
If I remember you have to catch a Missing No above lv 100 and just load full of rare candys. Once you naturally level it up though I think it reverts back to 100.
Title:
Post by: drenrin2120 on June 22, 2006, 01:19:46 AM
It wasn't that you could train them or level them that high, just that you could catch them that high. While looking for missing no you can find a few pokemon. For each game it was different. For me, it was snorlax lv 129 to 131, and like weezing lv 120 to 123.

Cheating is, like, my way of life. Makes games so much more fun. And no, I'm not going to lie and say I only use it after I've beaten a game. I just try and most of the time can beat the game without them, so it lets me sleep at night.

Cheating makes Contra so much more fun.

Odd. I believe the catching level 100+ pokemon thing, I just never got anything besides a Missingno myself. Hum.
