Title: Weird, messy line running down window
Post by: Bluhman on June 21, 2006, 02:59:20 PM
That's pretty much my problem, as I described in the title. A weird, sorta wiggly row of pixels runs down my game window for some reason. It's most noticable when I'm moving anywhere, and it causes the things it's currently on to be all wiggly and somewhat slowed-down, or something. Can anybody give me some pointers as to why this is happening?

Post some shots so that we can see what you´re talking about.

It won't show up in the shot, least it didn't when it happened to me.

For me it just went away on it's own.

Nothing played on any Media Players to my knowledge.

CRT or LCD monitor? CRT probably means it got magnitized or is just getting screwy.

It's not LCD. What does CRT Stand for?

Edit: Looked it up. Yep. It's CRT. Must be getting screwy.

Yeah. When they get old they go to ****. I got a job just so I could buy a flatscreen. Thank god I quit it. 7 months of hell.

(I got the monitor after two weeks of it but decided that having money was fun. Course months later I decided putting up with Supermarket Management wasn't worth it.)

But yeah. It might go away, it might not. If not, you could probably buy a not-horrible LCD for a little over $100 if the price has fallen since I got mine.

Or better yet, risen! Risen so far up, your head will explode at the mere reading of the price tag!

Hm... Well, my monitor is only abou 1 year old, and if the monitor REALLY was getting screwy, then the line would probably show up on more things than just my RPG test screen...

Wait, you mean it doesn't STAY there?

...that's odd. Really odd. Videocard MAYBE, but I suggest taking a screenshot, since if it's only there it's not just a monitor thing.

Well, MIC explained that it doesn't show up on screenshots...

Well that was his case. We don't know if that will happen to you. It might, but the only reason it wouldn't is if it was a monitor defect. If it doesn't show up, then we know that it's something with the monitor and not with the game itself. But becuase it disappears after the game is over we don't know then.

Unless you're saying that you've already tried and it doesn't show up. Then... hum.

Maybe it's in the same way like how your print-screen does not take a picture of your cursor.

And I did take a screen and it doesn't show up.

And one more thing: Would having Webroot Spysweeper, Spybot, and Trend Micro PCCillin active all at the same time do anything?

If you have a camera, you could take a picture of the screen itself, and we could see(pending on what camera you have and/or you have a scanner)

Does it only happen in RPG Maker, or always?

There's probably a menu button on the front of your monitor. Click it and find the 'degauss' selection. It should demagnetize your CRT monitor, if that's the problem.

Did that just now. Went all weird for a second. O_o.

Didn't work. Any other ideas?

Does it happen in fullscreen or windowed?

What I'm thinking is that maybe your videocard has some trouble doing fullscreen, and that this will happen whenever you play a fullscreen game or something.

lol, that's what degauss does.  I suggest just doing it in windowed mode.

Try pressing F4 F5 F5 and F4 again to switch betwin Fullscreen and Windowed to see if the line stays.
If it does, it's probobly a problem with the program, I'd suggest to reinstall it.
