Alot of it seems kind of uhm....un-even.

One wing looks bigger then the other. You can't have uneven wings... that's like having uneven testicles.

I tried to make the wings even, but the program I was using (Blender 3d) got all wierd and I couldn't fix it. So, the wing stays like it is (it's a crippled dragon  :p )

Ahh, blender.  Pretty cool.  And you could have just made one side and mirrored it, that would fix your problem.

It's too puffy. Like a marshmallow dragon melting in the sun. But I still clap.

I've started woirking on something that is actually good. Just to let you know, I'm already way further than the screenies suggest, and I made what the screenies show in about an hour. I'll show the updated pics in my next post.

Remember, it is A LOT more realistic and better right now than in the screenshots.

That face is looking pretty good. :)

I'm sorry to say, but that dragon wasn't all too hot :( I guess I'm just picky when it comes to dragons :p

Anyway, a tip of advice to get things more symetrical and go faster. Only design half of the model, then mirror it over to the other side once your done. That way, you only design half of it, and its perfectly symetrical. I haven't used blender, but I know if lightwave, theres an option that whatever you do to one side of a model, it automatically does it to the other side, basically it mirrors the action you did over an axis that you choose. That way, you can edit stuff after you mirrored the model and it won't make it uneven. I'd think blender would have something like that as well.

That face needs work. Badly. I should prob'ly see the newer version, but this one looks too inhuman. Like an alien or something.

Ok, that is considerablybetter! Good job! But the ears look too odd... Round them out and relocate them a little (mebe a little more back and down. Not a lot, but just enough to improve their appearance) to make them apear more realistic. Also, the head is too thin; widen that toohpickesque skull to a more realistic width! Because it's just too tall for that thin width. Other than those two things, it's looking much better.

I'm thinking of doing a low polycount version of this because I think it won't run in games very well... Well, here is the wireframe from the last update.

That is a seriously good hand, man. It's hard enough to draw hands, let alone model them in 3D >.>
Title:
Post by: DarkFlood2 on December 14, 2006, 10:04:54 PM
Actually, hands are very simple to make in 3d.  :]]
Title:
Post by: Archem on December 14, 2006, 11:20:03 PM
If that's the case, why do the hands on my GMod model look funny? Practice made your newest hands better? Hop you'll take time to (if you haven't already) make the hands on mine look like those. Great stuff, again. But why no cheesegun love? You were so fanatical about it, but seemed to have abandoned it since I stopped skinning it as much...
Title:
Post by: DarkFlood2 on December 14, 2006, 11:56:10 PM
Well, it wasn't a very well thought out idea..
And I used the same formula for making the hands on the trenchcoat guy as I did with yours.

Those models scream for higher-res and better-made textures. The modelling is pretty good, and I like the style, but the textures are killing them.

Yeah, but the first one was my second attempt at a skin, and the second was my third attempt at a skin. :P
