Ahoy Mates!

I kinda made this guy using someone's template, wanted to know what you guys thought.

Criticism welcome.  But please keep in mind, I only have paint to do this, so.... yeah.

Hm... the hair and animation are odd, plus his face has no shading. Atleast the clothes are good. Not the greatest sprite I've ever seen, but a valiant effort. Keep preacticing, you'll get better.

Thanks.  Like I said, I only have Paint for Windows XP, plus my illegal copy of Fireworks won't work, so I'm SOL for now.

I think most people only use paint so thats not really an excuse.

Try shading a bit more.  And the hair is kinda weird anyway.

uh... no offense but it still looks... bad... >.<

I think there's just too for such a sprite. If it were for RMXP you'd have enough pixels to do it prolly, or if it were PS1 or 2, definitely 3. Just too much going on for rm2k/3.

It kinda reminds me of semore or w/e from ffX.  The design for the characters hair itself isnt that great to begin with,  if you want it too look at all decent you have to simplify the hair for the charset.

Theres a few ways you can improve this charset.
1. His hairline for his bangs are one pixel too high.  If you bring it down one it will look better, this also allow you to see the top of his head too.
2. You need to have a wider range of color for his hair not just 2 hues, maybe 4 atleast.
3. Possibly choose an overall style, either outline the whole thing, or outline none of it.  And either choose to go darker outline or lighter.  His body has an outline but not his hair.  Most of the outline is darker but around his shoes are lighter.
4. I also think you may have made his hair that sticks up a lil too long.  I think it would look better if you made it shorter and possibly thicker.

Ive also took a quick crack at what i was talking about if you wanna see it i can post it later.

Heres what i was doing while i was thinking about what to tell you.  I only did the front view but meh its not my job to do it all.  Anyway, i did 2 different styles for his hair.  Which are suppose to be based off the hand drawn pic u had on this thread.

Okay, I tried editing it a bit, and this is what I got.

Although, I can't quite figure out the bangs on the side views.
Help would be appreciated.

It looks much nicer than the earlier one....but I think the hair is too complex to fit in that limited space.  I think you should reconsider the hair style because:

1.)  As previously stated, it's too complex
2.)  I'll be blunt....the hair itself just isn't that good.  I apologize if you're offended by this, I just felt I should tell you up front.

Hmm idk something like this but with more shading, and i think you made the hair too light. Maybe make his head bigger by one pixel on the one i made, looks too small.  But im too lazy to fix.
