Title: Final Fantasy: Hero's Gate

This is a FF fan game for all those old school FF lovers out there. I'v been working on this one for a long time and gettting all the operations in order and now i think i'm gonna start working on the story line.
But well this is how the story line starts out. You can choose from for earlier FF characters: Edward (III), Locke (III), Cecil (II), Dark Cecil (II). And each character has his own drmatic intro (well except for cecil and dark ceil whos are the same).

The begginings begin with graphics from each FF game but then after the intro i turned them into somewhat more graphic tilesets giving it a more realistic feel to it.

Features introduced in the game:

• I'v introduced a forge your own weapons system were you find the items you need along the way and you forge them together to create weapons
• I'v also re-introduced Edwards: "Tool" system
• I'v introduced a soal gem system were you take soal gems monster sometimes drop to a sorceress and she give a choice as to what base statistic you want to raise, the better the stone the better the staatistic.
• I'v also found a way to bring a limit break system into the game.
• Locke has a Throw command were you can buy throwing items some of which inflict conditions
• I'v also given Dark Cecil a new ability to transform into other things (dragons, wearwolves, moogles, so forth and so on...) for a certain amount of time. these creature have different abilities and stay in beast for in battle.
• I'v introduced a day and night system. When you rest at an INN or in a bed or tent you waake up in the night if it was day, OR in he day if it was night.
• Also a 25%/50%/100% potions not unlike that of legend of the dragoon (great great game)
• Some new elemental tools for Edward.
• Some batte and system graphics like from FF VII message boxes
• Music from various FF and Square games

Things considering to induce into game:

• Armor and wizards robes drawbacks such as intellegence, hp, so on and so forth...
• a disease system (much like in morrowind) were  the character can be infected and turn into a wearwolf at night, or a vampire who takes damage in sunlight but extraordnary powers at night, or perhaps somthing else (suggestions are most wanted here)
• or perhaps a drug smuggling side ques were if your touched bye a guard and you have the stuff you can either give it up and pay a fine of you can fight the guard (or somthing).

All suggestions and constuctive criticism is most welcome. I hope to have a site foe my game up with the next week or two and there you will be able to download the demo.

Let me get in here before the "don't do fangames" folks come in.

This looks okay. I can tell you've been working at this for a while. This is a good effort. I like FF Fangames. The Locke, Edgar, Cecil bit is a huge turnoff for me. Those characters were already well developed in their original games so it'll be boring to see them again. I'd rather you use original characters and keep the Final Fantasy Influence.

The mapping isn't terrible. It's a little simple but your off to a good start. I'm a little concerned about matching your graphics though. You say you start out with FF6 and FF4, and with that third screenshot you lead to a Tales of Phantasia. I'd use graphics that match more.

You've got some extra features which sound kind of cool.

Overall, I like FF Fangames. I enjoy them more than most RM2k games. It looks okay. I see potential.

I like the features.  Maybe if you used your own characters that are similar to those from final fantasy, and if you changed the title name, this could be a great game.

The FF4 charas and the FF6 charas doesn't look so good togheter.

But really, a lot of that sounds really good, I just think it'd be better if you didn't use ideas stolen from squaresoft.  :|

Yeah, clashing is a problem. Are you saying that Cecil was a MIDGET in FF4!? HUH, PUNK!?!?

Well what Character's would you reccomend? I thought myself when i started the prject that being able to choose from previouse FF Characters would be a goood idea and somethig people would like. and i thought that an opening from each's original chipset would put a more dramatic affect in it.

I put the characters in from two different games to give it an affect of more options. i thought people would like if i used main characters.

If you would like Character's like Cloud or Sephieroth i have some graphphically great animations of them in battle charas.

And i just thought it would be somthing kewl if i continued on the ideas of square and added a few new ones of my own.

Yeah, people tend to like it when you use characters they don't know, because then it makes them want to find out by playing the game.  And the charactersets are totally different styles.  Maybe try using the generator or trying to sprite your own modeled after people that you make up.

But some of the dramatic parts in the beggining have do with thier original backgrounds. continuations of the ends of their original games.

If you simply made up new names for the characters and didn't go for the whole "hey i know, ill make an FF fangme" this would be so awesome man.

There is always the option of making it a stupidly funny FF parody, but I doubt you'd go for that. :D

Edit: However, I'm not trying to be negative, the game looks awesome and the features seem great.

You could try...Kain from FFIV, Vincent from VII, and Freya, from IX.
None of them had a real deep story to themselves...Well, Kain kinda did...

Well im changing the characters now to a more original charas.

I'll have to go through and create all new intros. i'll put up a demo of it when I'm finished on the website.

Looks nice. I can't wait to see your original characters though; although I think it's okay to borrow ideas from other games, reusing characters and stories is rarely a good idea(although you get points for not choosing Cloud or Sephiroth.)

Well major update time:

Some people have suggested originality be put in my game, well here you haveit:

Major Changes

• All new main characters have been added.
• 4 All new intro have been induced.

Minor Changes

• Chipsets that were seeming people thought lacking simularity have been removed.
• Some of the random npc's charas have been changed to more suit the game.

The overall affect is: originallity, and uniformity in the game graphics.

The site will be up soon and the short intro demo up for download.
