Title: Charas Faceset Issues
Post by: ixitodesengelixi on July 24, 2006, 03:00:49 PM
Alrighty...This is really putting a damper on my project here. All I need is to be able to create custom Facesets. Charas has been a big help in helping with the Char Maker, and such, so I give you guys tons of credit for being cool like that and hopefully once I get my game and stuff up and running you'll see a bunch of resources from me because I love to draw and create things.

Anyway...here is my issue.

I get my Char all made up, give him/her some different facial expressions and whatnot, then I put it into the 8 faceset generator. All seems to go well. Once I save it and I resize it (192x192 like I was told), and then go to put it into my game.

Countless times it is saying "Invalid Image File" and will not import into the game. Now I checked twice, When Charas saves it, it is a .PNG file, so I have no browser related issues. As for resizing it, I've done that countless times in MS Paint, as well as PSP7 (192x192) as always.

Now, I remember someone telling me I have to "Convert it myself" Once I save it. Now what does this converting actually have to do? Basically I need someone to tell me how to fix this issue, step by step, if it is not to much trouble.

By the way, I already tried pasting the faceset file itself into another charset, lining it up correctly, and then resizing it (192x192). Importing it into my game "Invalid Image File". I've been fighting with this for the past week. Will something please go right and let me keep working on my game...Ugh...O.o

Ok, each actual face is 48x48, but each faceset is 192x192, so 16 faces per faceset.  The color depth problem can be fixed by downloading Ultimate Paint (google it) and opening the file, and then Save As, and save it as a 256 color PNG.  Then import that file, and it should work.
