Title: News on teh new flicks.
Post by: Cosmos on August 13, 2006, 03:24:31 PM
Yep, news..straight from the newspaper.

"Spiderman 3"

In may 2007 Tobey Maguire returns for anotehr go-round as the web-slinger and his alter-ego, Peter parker. For this third adventure, the sandman will be the main villain, a guy who can turn his body into anything from a blinding sandstorm to a concrete-hard pile driver (he's played by Thomas Haden Church (whoever that is)).
Meanwhile, Spidey discovers an ultracool black costume that's actually alien entity called Venom, and Topher Grace will play Eddie Rock, a shady chracter who becomes attached to the suit. Plus, James Fraco's Harry Osborn will don the Green Goblin suit worn by his late pop.

So, yay!

"The Dark Knight"

Director Christopher Nolan's second Batman flick (After last year's "Batman Begins" (which I thought was ok)) isn;t due until June 2008, but fans are buzzing over the recent annoucement that Heath Ledger has signed on to play the Clown Prince of Crim, The Joker (YEAH BABY) - Batman's number one adversary.
Whether or not Ledger can make audiences forget Jack Nicholson's memorable joker in Tim Burton's 1989 flim reminds to be seen.

"Ghost Rider"

At 42, isn't Nicolas Cage a little bit, um, old to be playing "young motorcycle sunt performer" Johnny Blaze, the marvel hero who made a deal with Satan and became a hellspawn? Well, Cage is a huge comics fan. The nephew of director Francis Ford Copola took his stage surname from Marvel hero Luke Cage, and almost became Tim Burton's Man of steel in the mid-90's, when a new superman film was first being readied (Cage recently named his newborn son Kal-El (what a loser), Superman's Krypton name).
In the movie, Blaze faces Blackheart (Wes Bently) and his father Mephisto (Peter Fonda), the villians responsible for his curse. "Ghost Rider" will pop a wheelie in theaters this February.

And, the dude who created Buffy the vampire slayer.. he's writing a flim for a Wonder Woman movie.. (why..just why?) Keeping ya'll informed,  :p

Edit: I've never heard of Ghost Rider.

1. Venom is as much villian as the Sandman, they are both main villians.
2. The Alien suit is not called Venom, Venom is the suit bonded with Eddie Brock.
3. It's Eddie Brock. :p
4. Harry won't wear the same suit as his dad. He's wearing some black newbie costume while flying around on a flying snowboard.

Corrections from a spidey nerd, that movie is going to be awesome.

Hahahahaa! So that means there are three villians in the movie. Prolly trying to put as many things as possible in one movie. Meh.

Oh great... more Spiderman. [/Sarcasm]

The first was fine, but not really sequel-worthy. I can't believe they're making athird one! Who even watches those Spiderman movies? Studies show that the theatre in my town never got a single ticket sold for Spiderman 2.

I completely agree with the first sentence in the "Ghost Rider" paragraph. It's so pathetic!  :bee_wtf:
Title:
Post by: Kijuki_Magazaki on August 13, 2006, 05:53:51 PM
dude spiderman one and two were hits o.O that shows a lot of ppl see them. I bet this one will to ALOT.

Alot of teens wanted venom in it. Venom is in it. This one MIGHT beat the first one.

And they say it was going to be a trilogy from the beggining.

All these comics movies, I mean, wth? Only a few of them were actually good, and now they're making a wonder woman movie?? wtf is THAT? No one cares about Wonder Woman, it'll prolly turn into some sexist blah blah 'lookit her jin her skimpy outfit!' kinda movie. Have you seen the old movies, series, etc? Total and utter blah. The good comics movies are as follows.

The Unbreakable
Batman Begins
X-Men (though I haven't seen 3)
I'd say Spiderman, but it took him way too friggin' long to tell Mary Jane Slut-face w/e he loved her. That got annoying.

So, that's about it. Don't get mad at me 'cuz I left something out.

Actually, Marvel Studios is making like 8 more comic-book movies in the next few years. Examples can be found here (http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/724/724835p1.html), but the only ones I'm interested by are Spidey 3 and possibly the Nick Fury movie.
Title:
Post by: I Have a Sandwich on August 13, 2006, 07:16:15 PM
They already made  Nick Fury movie with David Hasselhoff. It owned.

As for Cage though, he kicks ***. DOn't say nuttin bad.

Are you nuts, man?

Spiderman 2 was one of the few movies where the sequal was actually as good and perhaps better than the original! Which isn't easy because the original did rock.

And there's only one upcoming movie I care about.

Spiderman 2 was awful. Too much angst got in the way. The first was well paced between character development and action. The second had the character development totally dominate the movie except for one very good action scene (the train one, the rest were crap) that couldn't salvage the 2+ hours of total mind-blowing "omg mary jane omg life wah no job wft losing my powers" BS that somehow got people to not leave the theatre. Yeech.

Batman Begins is cool. Jack Nickolson was AWESOME in the first one. The entire rest of the original batman was cheesy except for th Joker's pretty much constant laughs. Hee hee... if they can pull that off again it'll be a good movie.

Yep, Spiderman II sucked. I agree with everything Sai'kar said, actually. Good thing I didn't pay for it! It was the demo movie at Circuit City for  jumbo plasma screen TV with surround sound and stereo speakers. The plot moved poooriteeee slow. I might see III. I kinda liked the Batman movies of the 60's. How it was all campy and stuff. I loved the screen transitions. Dan anana deeda loo!

About Cage's bad naming: Hell, I'd name my son Solid Snake if my cat wasn't called Snake already. And if I had a son. And if I had a wife, for which I'd need a girlfriend on which I'm working on.

About Ed's bad taste in movies and seeing that his whole town is full with Spidey-hating emos (Population of that town: 1.):

^ 'nuff said.

WTH? When I showed you the fake trailer I think you said the second movie was better than the first.  :|

I liked Spidey 2 and I don't really care what the rest of the humanity think, as long as something pleases me it's good.
Spidey 3 will be much darker, and I'm guessing that's a good thing (at least for me :)).

Spidey 2 COULD have been really good, but the plot WAS way too slow and pretty much everything Sai said. Except when all the New Yorkers said they wouldn't spread his identity. YEAH RIGHT. A hundred people or more on that train and not one snitch? That scene seemed like a cheesy attempt to appeal to New Yorkers.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High > all these comic-based movies

And I think that WTC movie is coming out soon, too. N. Cage plays a fireman or something.

eew. the snakes look cheap and much too unreal in the sense they look like mutated snakes, and so does the plane.

The plot is even cheesy. THE TITLE IS CHEESY.

"Snakes on a plane" =

Carnage is way cooler, in my opion, then Venom.
I want to see how they would do Carnage's manipulation thing (like changing his hand in to axes and such like it did in the show).

Also, how the Hell can you not like the looks of Snakes on a Plane?
It take a lot of work to make a Samuel L Jackson film bad. He's like Morgan Freeman, only less narrator.

But whatever. I have been on some bulletin board where besides throw around a bunch of things I've slowly brought here, they've also hyped up the movie with hilarious fake posters and what not.

it just doesnt look good for me. Sure it has SLJ in it, but it looked too CGI'ed. I am willing to bet they used more computer CG than real life snakes.

and think about it; snakes on a plane? WTF?!

I dunno i think is the horrible title that is throwing me off. thye shouldve come up with something more creative like... Sky Horror, or Fear in the Sky.

Snakes on a plane? I think i am having a real proble on judging this one movie by its title. Well i've learned a thing or two from learning stuff in college if you dun have a good title, less ppl will be buyin.

Oh yeah, sorry Mid, forgot. I WUV MID!!! *hugs Mid*

To Kijuki about the name part: Fear in the Sky and Sky Terror... now THAT sounds bad. Sounds way to 50's and corny. Now Snakes on a Plane, that's catchy.  :violin:

A movie title's is SUPPOSED to be obvius. How else will you pick it up in the movie store? You don't pick a movie and read the back if the title/cover wasnt interesting.

Spiderman: Its about a man spider. Duh
Ghost Rier: Its about a ghost.. rider. Duh
Godfather: Its about a mafia thing. Duh

Its too obvious.

There were many good movies who's titles werent as obvious mr sandwhich; Jaws, silence of the lambs, predator, lethal weapon, friday 13th, finding nemo, apollo 13, eight below, among a lot of others.

No, titles *arent* supposed to be obvious. At least not THAT obvious. I am not saying it shouldnt be named that, I am saying that the title sucks for the kind of expection it has. Basically it. The title is supposed to accurately give some sense of waht the movie is about and its theme, or if not make sense in a metaphorical way that still describes the movie to some point, were you want to see the movie.

Snake on a plane; analyse it. yes, by the name its gonna be friggin obvious its about snakes on a plane, but just by the title its doesnt tell you anything else, but the whole movie!. The titanic movies were not named "When the Titanic sunk", well pretty much cause most of the ppl know what the story of the titanic was about. It deserved to be simple. Same with spiderman, and daredevil, and superman; these are things we all know about, that most of the population understands. It doesnt need a more complex title, it deserves to be simple. Seriously if I werent to know anything about the movie, and just heard the title "snakes on a plane" i WOULD think is a 50's movie; its too corny and simple for no reason.. unless theres a comic book about or is based on a true story that 50% of ppl here know about, then i'll shut up.

but otherwise dun talk to me about titles being supposed to be obvious... unless of course they are supposed to be obvious o.O

In fact snakes on a plane gives me this feeling:

It bothers me that you can bitch so much about something you haven't even watched, seemingly based on its name alone.

"Ice Cream? What the Hell? It's cold like ice and has a creamy texture! I DEMAND you change that name to "Resina!""

I'm not sure I like the idea of the batman begins sequal. The original batman film with Joker is one of my favourite films of all time.

Also, as to Spiderman 3, you know what'll happen. "Oh I just got happy together with Mary Jane, now I'm going to bond with a symbiote and push her away. OH THE TEENAGE ANGST"

No, you are getting me wrong, I am not saying the movie will suck. I am saying the title sucks big time, and because of it is not in my "to no watch immidiately" list. And also cause the movie itself looks bleh.

Its bothering me you are making dumb childish stupid assumptions for no particular personal reasons like your last sentence... or is there one eh? And also, is good healthy arguments man, learn to take some, you are too stiff.

Good for you, I respect your opinion, but seem to have missed the point of why i showed you the poster. That movie itself was good, but you didnt expect me to say that huh?

And no you wouldnt rather do that; please you are giving me talk  about watching a movie that is getting good ratings.

If they are gonna make batman movies they should find an actor that can play the part =/ the last dude in the batman movie, id dint like, he just didnt fit the character for me. Adn even tho i dun like clooney much, i think he's good amking the batman movies.

As for spiderman 3, I want to see how these people either ruin the trilogy or make  a better one.

You just contradicted yourself. You say that you don't care about SoaP because it is so obvious, then say that an obvious titled movie was good. If you had an experience with a similar title being good, why are you so against another like it?

And yes I would. Just because it gets good reviews, doesn't mean its not a cheesy movie. I was trying to describe something like Godfather, Casablanca, Ben Hur or the likes with that statement.
Title:
Post by: Kijuki_Magazaki on August 17, 2006, 08:21:56 PM
Is not contradiction; this whole argument has been based on me thinking I will not watch Snakes on a Plane immediately or will it be on my "OMG I AM GONNA WATCH IT WHEN IT COMES OUT" list because of its title.

I am, from a personal view, saying that I do not think the movie will be good, but it is not saying that the movie will be a complete piece of crap cause of it when it comes down to it. Heck it might the best one of the summer/fall, but it will STILL not deprive me for saying "its title sucks BIG time".

The title of the poster is corny and bleh, but the movie for its production age was kinda good. What does that mean? that yeah even bad named movies can be good, but it isnt likely. For the poster i was refering to how the titled sucked.

You keep on thinking i am saying the whole movie will suck for you and everybody else because The title sucks. Will the movie suck as bad as the title? I dont know, but in my POV from the title and previews theres more possibility it will. It might not as for every movie.

Is just not looking that good for me cause of its title and previews.

Godfather, casa blanca werent cheesy movies and they did get good ratings.. so those arent the one you wouldnt watch?

Kij, I'm saying this based on the belief that you have some previous knowledge sucgh as Casa and such were good movies. I'm not going to pretend you have no knowledge of such so you can't make a 'clever' reply to them. Yes, they were good movies, we both know it. But just because a movie gets good reviews doesn't mean its not cheesy as is the case in other movies. But yes, I would rather watch 1000 cheesy, corny movies instead of Casablance, Godfather, Ben Hur, Clopatra, etc.

XD nuff said.

My Father rents "cheesy" movies. And I am not talking old ones, but from like actors you dont know and from companies you never heard of. Me and my older brothers pick on him at times xP. But not to worry, he has more way to make fun of us than anybody.

I've seenthe earth vs spider i think; it was quite entertaining if its the one i am thinking of.

Rofl, sounds good.

One of my favourite cheesy films ever is Trolls 2. I mean, it's so bad that it's superbly good.
