Title: GetBackers Manga

Last week, I got to go to Borders, and I got a few books...'Jurassic Park', 'Prey', 'Angels and Demons', 'Deception Point'...then I got a few manga...'flcl #1', 'Black Cat #2'....
...AND TWO GET BACKERS MANGA! (volumes 13 and 14)!!!

*turns into serious-anime-critic mode*

I saw the series first, but not completely...the last episode I saw was 'GetBackers Vs. High-School girl', so I was a little lost as to where these volumes were, chronologically. In short, they are AWESOME. Okay, so Get Backers isn't the GOD of all anime...but I love it!!

A few minor complaints: there are more curse words and...'topless' or 'near topless' moments in here than in the anime...but, hey, it's acceptable (Hevn...Natsumi....girl that works at the traffic department that keeps towing Ginji and Ban's car....^v^). But, I did see a little TOO much of Kazuki's girly side....what's worse, at a hot spring....T_T....but, I <3 it.


.....this really belongs in an anime forum, doesn't it?

Has something been lost or stolen?  Call upon the GetBackers to retrieve anything for you.  With a 100% success rate record, it's surprising that they have such little money.  Well, thats because they tend to just have bad luck.  Ban, has a special eye that causes anyone who see's it to go into a one minute hallucination (Too lazy to spell check), and Ginji, has similar traits as an electric eel.

Thats basically the summary.  The series is funny, as good action scenes, and really draws attention.  It's a mystery to me as to why it's not very popular.

Although the series did end with potential for a second season or whatever...it hasn't...which makes me sad.

I just hate having seen the very exciting ending of a good chapter that had one topless scene that was entirely uncalled for, and a near-topless scene that was also a panty-shot, only to have a rear-nude scene--FROM A SHE-MALE-- following a near-topless after shower scene of--get this--a girl who seriously looks flat with clothes on, then a scene of Ban grabbing Hevn's florid bosom from behind, while she doesn't even notice his hands removing her bra.

It should come as no surprise that one of the artists of GetBackers went and made a doujinshi--don't know which one, though.


In summary--I'm a prude. I'll turn away from a pic of a girl in skimpy clothing, etc. Also, I hate pervs and gigolo's to death.

Ridicule me as you wish.

Dude, anime wasn't invented to give good plots and stories. It was made for porn. The very nature of the style suggests this.

Second.  Anime was not meant for porn.  It doesn't matter if you are joking around and stuff, there are people who actually believe that.  Anime was created so good STORIES and PLOTS could be told without the limitations of this thing we call real life physics.

Now, ifn' you please, would you please leave if you have nothing good to say.

My apologies if I am backseat modding, but I feel strongly about anime and people ranting on about opinions they have that can't be accuratly backed up really piss me off.

Not directly, no, but you seem unaware of the evolution of the worlds societis. Look at stuff like G-Force, Speed Racer and Gundam. Yes, they tried to give those chicks sex appeal in an amount which was enough during the release of them. As people became more tolerant of sexuality, they began to put more of it upfront. If you had tits in the 70s, no way that was gonna fly. Look at Trixie from Speed Racer. Back then that was sorta pushin it. As people accepted more, they began to put more into it.

Oooog, never said I don't like animes. There are a few I love to death, but I believe that anime, not manga, anime, was developed with sexual intent. While I don't not like anime, often times people that love anime and read to much into what I say *ahem* do bother me.

EDIT: Lupin the third. Fujiko=boobage. They wouldn't have shown her tits in the 60's, but she was in there just as a pair of boobs.

If you honestly believe that anime was originally created for pornography, I would like you to back that up.  I would like to hear the evidence and events that have in the end made you come up with that conclusion.

EDIT:  Most examples given aren't porn.  By the examples given, movies, tv shows, and pertty much everything else with some sort of visual was made for porn.  How is having animated breasts and such different from having it in real life with movies?

Anime is just another outlet for visual entertainment.  While yes, some has broken off into "pr0n", there is enough evidence and information to back up my statement as to Anime not made for porn.

Perhaps porn was to blunt of a word. I believe anime was intended for sexual interest. I ointed out reasons in the last post. Did I say "ALL ANIME IS PORN!!!!!!"? I could list specific examples for my defense (Tifa/FF7, basically saying because Tifa is in there, FF7 was intended for sexual intent.  This is according to your examples.), but than the topic will get a little off topic, or more accurate, further off topic than it's already become.

EDIT - I love how I slipped an example in there and than said that it would cause the topic to become more off topic.

I'm assuming am I? I never said anime in general. I said the original purpose of anime was for sexual interest, not porn, I corrected myself. Modern anime may have branched away from that, but I still believe that anime originally was intended for sexual interest so to get upset because an anime has points intended for sexual interest is rediculous.

Its like the atomic bomb. The original purpose of it was as a means of destruction, but as time went on it became a defense instead of an offense.  But if we go to war again and drop it, getting upset over the drop is rediculous because that was its original purpose in the first place.

EDIT: Stop using something to prove me wrong after I alread said it was too harsh. By this I mean the word porn.

Well, that was intended as a single shot post with the sole purpose of aggrivation, not meant for me to fully explain my opinion on the original intent of anime. It's the same thing I do all the time. You've seen me do it I'm sure.

Hentai came before Anime did. Also, there are more Hentais out there then Animes. Also, almost EVERY anime out there has probally been turned into a Hentai, thus meaning that Hentai easily matches Animes in size and numbers, then surpasses. They've made Hentais of famous vidoe games like Final Fantasy as well, thus adding more to the number.

With this in mind, it's pretty obvious that Anime was originally INTENDED to be SEXUALLY INTRIGUING. Later, people realized that more money could be made if they added more plot, less ****, and allowed people of all ages to watch. However, most of them still kept the sexual interest, as it's a magnet to many viewers.

1.)  The very first anime was Momotaro in 1918 in Japan.  Not a hentai, thus disproving that first statement.

2.)  Can you really confirm there are more hentai out than anime?  There are several hentai movies and such that don't even qualify as anime because they weren't made in Japan.  That is a requirment of anime, otherwise it's just a cartoon.

3.)  Again, I must refer back to my statement that now movies, tv shows, and video games were created for sexual interest by these statements.  

EXAMPLE:
Pong - Not for sexual interest.
Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball - For sexual interest.

Speed Racer - Not for sexual interest
Eiken (Look it up) - For sexual interest

So, basically, your saying because a couple companies and particular animes went in the direction of sexual interest, anime in general was meant for sexual interest.  Also, because one particular character in an anime, to get back on topic slighty, Hevn from Getbackers, all of Getbackers is intended for sexual interest.  But this was disproved by that poll because it clearly said, most of the other main characters were more popular than Hevn.  I think that's pretty strong evidence.  I can do the same with pretty much every single other anime (That I've seen that is) that isn't already obviously intended for sexual interest.

This can be applied to other things as well.  Pong is meant for sexual interest and so is every other game that will be made following it whether or not it contains anything sexual or not!  Frogger sounds kinky!  You guys are being anime racist.

And, just curious, what was the first cartoon porn?  Do you know?  If not, than you can't say for certain it came before anime.  Just like I can't say for certain that my statement is true.  The thing is, I actually have information and specific facts to back up my statement.

And even if it was released before the first anime in 1918, if it wasn't made in Japan, than it's not an anime, and therefore completly irrelevant, almost as irrelevant as this conversation in a GetBackers Manga discussion.

Sorry Djanki for starting the arguement and messing up the thread.  I can see clearly that the people believing manga and anime were intended sexual intent and not on animated story telling wont change their minds, and neither will I.  I'm going to stop argueing about this topic in this thread as of now, although if a new thread were to open for this specific cause, I'll speak in there.

For what it's worth, I hate pervs, too, and I like anime plots (Whorver thinks Metropolis had a lame story is SO getting my internet guitar shoved up their.....chimney, so that they'll have to hire a singing chimney sweep). Well, part of the trival stuff I know remembers hearing something about this on TV. However, I'm really not going to bother finding proof, because every search I use will yield porn, which I'm not fond of at the moment. Hence, I'll just save myself the grief and say you win or something.
