Title: Need a tutorial PLZ
Post by: dudydudeman15 on August 24, 2006, 10:10:55 PM
I've been surfing the net for a while and i still couldn't find a tutorial for this and i would really appreciate it if someone can clear this up for me.

The question is:
How can i make it so that whenever i use a certain move, a thick horizontal pic of my character and a background of moving stripes would come up of 2-4 seconds. Such as when you play streetfighter and use a special move. The screen would pause and a pick of the character would show up.
Sorry i can't make it clear, i kind of confused myself.
I tried looking for a pic from streetfighter but i couldn't find one with the face thingy...
Any help would be appreciated. :D

I'm sure that can be done with battle animations.

Well, its really simple....
but youre going to either need some artistic ability, or some keen editing skills.
Also, some animation know how......
check it yo:

You make this graphic into a battle animation. Make the background transperent..and give it thick, black borders...I dont care how you do it...Id just draw it on Paint, and copy it to an Idraw file...
But then again, I draw pictures for a living......

You then need to make a graphic for your stripey background...3 panels is usually good for a non-choppy animation.....make it the same dimensions as your main graphic. Or directly proportional in size.

Then, you make the animation.

Start by laying out your stripes....throuought the entirity of your animation sequence.....

when thats done, overlay the panel with your character on top.

I personally, would use an entire battle animation page for this....the more pannels you use, the better your animation will look.

But if you arent artistically, or at least creatively inclined, then it will look like ****. Im not gonna lie here.

You can also just draw the lines into the background of your main graphic.......
If you dont want to deal with much work in the animating itself.

Umm.... Yeah.

Hey, neat......Thats my first tutorial.

Wow. Nice way to say,"put lines in a battle animation." Which I just said. Amazing. And you said that if he sucks at drawing, his drawing will suck. Such wisdom...

I had flashy stripes by accident once:
I download a really really great charset, but it was only partially
filled out. Instead of making the background pink, the artist made it lavender, and the blank tiles were not all lavender, they were orange, pea green and dark blue and light blue squares. I was a subway stop in Japan. I really don't know why the guy did it, but the charset, as I said was AWESOME, and maybe he didn't want people to be able to use it. I digress...

So, how did I get the flashy stripes by accident? I had stripes of
green and blue, just to see if I could get a transparent background of anything (I couldn't). The green turned to orange and the blue turned to green, flashing on and off. Put your character there and voila, a timeless moment of epic porportions.

Charsets are made so that the left hand side has a few tiles that rotate, so you can have a smokin chimney or a fireplace, and of course the water movement effect, (top left had corner.) So experiement with that maybee.
