How can I make the faces of the enemy i am fighting show during a battle, on the top. This way, the faces of the heroes would be on the bottom while the faces of the enemy is on the top. Also, i want to have 3 different expressions of the same face that changes. For example, the face would change when he is hit for a few seconds, and a different face shows up when he attacking. Sorry, it's kinda hard to explain.
Any help will be greatly appreciated..
Thanks.

Can't be done in the DBS. You could make background images with the face copy/pasted onto it, but that's about it.
-
oh...
well can i just do the same but only for the hero faces?
-
It doesn't matter what kinda of face, hero or villian, it can't be done unless you use the battle background images.
-
Im pretty sure you could do it with pictures.....
but the amount of retarded coding involved would be, well...
retarded.
And having the facial change for a 'few seconds' I think would be alltogether unfathomable for me..coding wise. Id have to agree with meis there.....
You could have a picture that shows, for the monster graphic, and have that picture changew when a certain HP is reached...
But Id figure out something better, if I were you.
Sounds like more work than its worth.

Are you using the Default Battle System (DBS) or your own Custom Battle System (CBS)?
You cannot show pictures during the DBS, only battle animations and backdrops.
-
Animating the hero faces in the default battle system is doable, but it's not worth it, since you have to do every attack command manually.
-
This is why I love custom battle systems :)
-
well im not a fan of work so i guess i'll just use something else.
Thanks for the help guys.

You could make the face part of the battle animation for a characters weapon. The face would only show up when you attacked, but it would still be kinda cool if you executed it right.

For the record.....
As soon as you tweak the DBS, its NO LONGeR A DBS
Think about it.....
There is no way to do ANYTHING with the DBS aside from what is layed out....
so for one to say
"you cant do that in the dbs"
its kindof like statinf the obvious to make yourself sound smarter. like:
"The moisture in the air is just water"
it just sounds stupid.
-
It's still the default battle system regardless of what you do to it, hence it's still DBS. Frankly, your logic sucks.
-
if you alter ANYTHING
its no longer DEFAULT.
it is then CUSTOM.
my logic is ineffable.
Your logic is twisted to support arguments.
-
If the battle system is still in the default format, it is the default system, no matter how many pictures you add to it. If the system you use to fight is the turn based active time battle system that comes with the program, its the default battle system.
-
I'm not even using the Mechanics of the DBS...and I STILL believe it's the DBS.
Agree with the Almost Banned Guy and the Sandwich.

That is a stupid statment. The defult battle system refers to the battle system that comes with rpg maker. A custom battle system, is a customly made battle system. If you make a change to the dbs, it is still the dbs just with some tweaks. Unless you actually MAKE the system, it is not CUSTOM MADE.
Something that you should learn about logic, logic can be twisted and manipulated to work out how you want it. Everyone (but you) agrees on what a cbs is and a dbs is. You're trying to take one small idea, try to back it up with some logic you made up, then tell all of us that we're wrong.
In case you still don't know the differance...
CBS - custom battle system. A battle system that is made customly from scratch, with the rm2k/3 coding system, to be used in your game.
DBS - defult battle system. The battle system that comes with rm2k/3, along with any tweaks, add-ons, or modifications that have been made to it. The DBS will remain the DBS as long as the base coding remains the same because it is still the same basic system.
-
to say that its a "stupid" statement, is a bit pretentious.
Its still CUSTOMIZED, despite the fact that its not coded from scratch.
If you take the DBS, and give a player the option to steal from an enemy....or any of that crap, it is then, technically, a CBS.
perhaps CDBS. Customized default battle system.
its either customized or its not.
if you are using a new means to represent damage taken by an enemy, like a graphic, you have then customized the default battle system. You have changed how the information is delivered to the gamer. Hence, the rapport between gamer and game is altered. It is no longer presented in the default context.
granted, if you simply change your battle animations and none of the programming, then its still a DBS, but if you are tweaking how the information is delivered to the gamer, its safe to say that that **** has been customized.
Either way, Ive gotten my two cents in a few times....Im gonna have to agree to disagree with you guys...what this kid is talking about sounds custom to me.
what do I know though? you guys are probably right.
regardless, hes already lost intrest at the prospect of logistical effort.
-
You little ****, you originally said that it was CUSTOM. You even capitalized CUSTOM. So now you're going on about CUSTOMIZED? Make up your mind. Custom means something completely differnt and of its own. Customized means maybe you make it a bit different but without the original basis from which you made it, it couldnt exists.
I don't think its pretentious either. You're an idiot.
-
*sigh* Take it to a different thread, guys.
And for the record, Plight is wrong and everyone else is right. Completely changing the mechanics of the DBS doesn't change it from being the DBS. Once you start battling outside of the Enemy Encounter command, then it's a CBS.
