Title: Misc questions...
Post by: Almeidaboo on September 08, 2006, 03:44:50 PM
Okay, would anyone please answer me these?

1) How good is a Condor RX 20 guitar? I´m going to buy one and I don´t want to spend too much money, and this one has a excelent price on it...

2) What´s the difference between a heavy metal pedal, a distortion pedal and a Overdrive pedal? (I dunno if it is also pedal in english, but the translation from portuguse would be it)

3) What´s a Stratocaster? (noobish?)

4) I´m here at my office, and here we have the internet acess monitor from a company, and in the end of the month they give a list of acess to our boss, that later yell at us for acessing stuff off work. Here´s the question: If I install emule here, will thse connectiong be caught in the list in end of the month??

Thanks in advance!

Pedal's right.

An overdrive pedal adds grain to your sound, but not as much as a distortion pedal. Overdrive is what you hear in 80's guitar solo's, and most modern solo's too. Distortion is even granier, as I said, and heavy metal is even more. I can post SFX of distortion and metal, but I don't have any overdrive.

A stratocaster is a Fender guitar. I have a guitar modeled after one, and my advice is to try a bunch of guitars and see which one you like. I don't know what a Condor is, but if you like the feel and tone, etc, and the price is good, get it. When buying a guitar, don't look for certain brands. Just pick one off the shelf and play it. Then pick another, and after that, a bunch more. Then go back to the few you liked, and pick up one of those. I have a cheap guitar, and the strings are really tight (not a good thing). The same thing with amps and FX pedals

And most likely Emule will get caught, although I don't know.

I'm sure of this, but I would presume that a pedal labeled 'heavy metal' would probably have more of a 'boom' effect to it, as I've heard from a lot of metal bands.

Never heard of a Condor before, either.  But if it's a decent guitar and has a good deal, I'd say go with it.  However, if it's just a knock-off of some other guitar, I'd suggest getting the 'real McCoy', as my instructor says, instead.  A bit steeper price, but worth it.  My dad was probably gonna get me an Epiphone SG, but instead just went ahead and got the Gibson instead because it has a higher quality, etc...
But like I said, I've never heard of a Condor, so I don't know anything about it.

Strats suck, and metal master is the best distortion pedal you can get.

Aye, Strats are hugely overrated. It depends on what type of music you want to play - the tone you get and the profile of the guitar will greatly affect your chosen sound.

As to a pedal, I can recommend the MetalZone pedal (I think it's made by Boss). Might not be what you want, but I like it. :D

I've noticed that blues players tend to favor a Fender over other guitars, so if you don't like to play blues, you might wanna reconsider a Fender.

Condor RX 20  isn't the best kind of guitar but it's a good guitar, i'd say if it has a good deal then go for it. :eyes:

I recommend the MetalZone pedal.  ;)

Might I recommend the  Ibanez RG350MDX (http://www.ibanez.com/guitars/guitar.asp?model=RG350MDX&z=y), my (soon to be) guitar. Played it at a guitar shop at the mall and fell in love. Few more paychecks, it's mine.

Thats an awesome guitar. Some guy in my jazz band has it, or another ibanez like it.
I'd like this acoustic, though. (http://www.ibanez.com/guitars/guitar.asp?model=AEF30ETVS&z=y)

May I just say that I love this guitar, I have it and it plays like a sweet, cute kitten, until you go louder when it becomes a wild tiger! HELL YEAH!

Hm, thanks y'all for responding! I´ll look into the guitar matter, but the price is excelent and it comes with the overdrive pedal, some cables and other stuff...So I think I´m going for it!

And about the emule thing...anyone knows more about it?
