Title: I hate my computer.
Post by: WarxePB on September 13, 2006, 12:02:40 AM
So, when I first got a copy of WinXP, I installed it, everything was fine... but I didn't have a serial key. Turns out that the key we got was only good for 1 computer, and since my parents installed XP on theirs first, I couldn't use the same one for mine. It wasn't a big problem, since I had a 30-day grace period... but the timer just ran out about half an hour ago. I was able to open an IE window, and thus still have some functionality, but I have all of no access to the files on my computer.
So, other than ordering a new copy of WinXP, any suggestions as to how to fix it?

Yeah. Then all he needs to have fun is a Windows Emulator.

Either find a fake serial or a copy of XP that doesn't require verification. Both are illegal, but that's not the point. :P

We had the serial code, but our copy of XP wouldn't activate. I had to talk to an asian woman to get it activated. She did not trust me...OO I can tell she wanted to hang up. :yell:

If you have a standard version of windows, you should be able to find a crack or serial, but if you have a gateway (or other brand name) manufactured version of windows, that probably won't work. I had a gateway laptop, windows crashed, I installed my back up copy, then my whole laptop died later. I tried to use the windows disk on my new computer, the key didn't work cuz it was already registered with my laptop, I tried downloading a ton of cracks and seriels, but none of them worked because it was a weird version of windows or something like that (it said gateway right on the disk and everything).

Then I just stole my brother's backup copy of windows and used that.

If a crack or serial dosen't work, you may have to download a whole copy of windows.

Windows XP - $100
Flash MX (When it was new.) - $400

And you're having second thoughts?

You've already obtained something for free that was four times as expensive..
