Stupid URL bug.

"Sony recently announced that it would ready 400,000 PS3s in North America and another 100,000 in Japan for the system's launch. Nintendo said it plans to ship 4 million Wii units worldwide by the end of the year."
lol

Sony: 500000x$600 = $300,000,000
Ninty: $4000000x$250 = $1,000,000,000

Well that's assuming they sell all of them. But at least their outlook looks a lot better than Sony's ATM.

It really doesn't work that way. You have to assume that Sony isn't charging $600 because they're greedy. They probably have much higher production costs. Maybe they're making only $150 off each unit, and Nintendo is making $100.

50,000*150= $7,500,000
4,000,000*100 = $400,000,000

A much larger difference.

Then you have to take into effect one-time costs, like research and development (in the millions for sure) and advertising (probably not all that much) and the difference between the two net profits gets larger and larger.

Too many unknowns to see if they'll make much money or not, but selling that few units is crazy considering what it must have cost to get them ready. I wonder what Sony is thinking.

Nintendo claimed that they would not be making a loss of their first wave of Wiis.

Unlike Microsoft and Sony, they will be losing money, they already stated that.

I wonder when ssbb is coming out?

As long as they will come out here in Europe I couldnīt be happier, still waiting for Kingdom Hearts II to be released...

And I hope that Ssbb will be out on release day.

Oddly enough US of A and South of A are getting the Wii faster then Japan itself..

Isn't that weird?

It sucks that Corruption isn't coming out on launch day, but hopefully, Twilight Princess will live up to its reputation as the best game ever.

Oh, and I am SO getting a ton of VC games. SMB3 + STH3+K = best games ever

MGS isn't THAT good.

Fan or no fan, wii looks so much better then MGS.

Plus, Snake is ON ssbb.

And you get to hide in a box, which is the best damn thing ever.

Wow... so they added Snake to the game. Did they also add the story made by Hideo Kojima? Does the new SSB finish this 6-parter series? No. I couldn't care less about SSBB. The original was fun for a short while, nothing more.

And on a note, MGS is THAT good.

Rayman 4 trailers > MGS 4 Trailers. Very yes.

Metal Gear is a fun game, but its not worth buying a system just for. If it was, I'd have a PS2 and not just a PS1.

You just cannot beat Zelda, Mario and Super Smash Bros, it is foolish to even try.

Mario shouldn't even try. The first mario game, Super Mario Bros wasn't that great as everyone says. It's just overrated. The sequels sucked. The first applies to Super Smash Bros too, however that one did have more replay value than Super Mario Bros.

The Zelda series come close to MGS but can't beat it JUST. Oceraine of Time was a game which I enjoyed very much, but the others I found meh. With MGS, I liked all 4 games I've played so far (MG, MGS1&2&3)

Although I like MGS, I don't try to claim it's story is as epic as Drace is saying. I mean, in MGS 4, they MOO. Like cows. They friggen' MOO.

Metal Gear on the NES had a really shoddy way of enemies seeing you, and although it is a hardware limitation, it's still crappy.

Yup, Super Mario bros would have been way better if there was a couple of hours of cutscenes to every five minutes gameplay ;)

I love Nintendo but

Team ICO>Zelda

Why? Because those games are ZELDA DONE RIGHT! Even Shigeru Miyamoto gave comments on them similar to that.

Finally, someone with common sense.

MGS is extremly overated, I mean seriously, FFX had more gameplay then two of them combined.

It's fun, but it is short. The story is alright, you get mad at RPG's for recycling stories, but somehow you over look MGS2's extremly similarities to the first one..

The story of three really wasn't even good, the game play was the onlything holding that together.

When you look at the first one now, it just doesn't even seem worth playing. It did nothing revolutionary, nothing graphics wise that Final Fantasy IX didn't put to shame completely and uderly.

Big deal, voice acting, Tales of Eternia had that.

MGS has done nothing revolutionary. Good gameplay, that is it, that is all nothing more. For those of you who say it has the best stories on earth, you don't get out much. Read a book, I have a wonderful suggestion, read some of Terry Brooks later novels, they are quite good.

Final Fantasy has done little for my faith in the series lately.

Though, if FFXII and the new CC games are any indication, faith will soon be restored.

I hafta say, I am a Nintendo fanboy.

And Drace, you are going a little too far trying to prove MGS is god.

Frankly, it's not.

It's your opinion.
Nothing more, nothing less.

It is not a fact, no matter how much you want it to be so.

Well... I don't really know of any other futuristic stealth games like it.

Plus, MGS is the original Stealth game, so just like FF is the original classic of RPGs and always will be, the same goes for MGS in it's genre.

Not only was MGS a revolution that made the stealth genre what it is today, it also brought a revolution in stories and emotions. AND VOICE ACTING. Pre-mgs, voice acting was either "bah" or "ewww".

MGS is overrated

So... lemme get it straight. MGS, which was highly underrated till MGS2 in 2001, is overrated and Mario, which games overall are boring, repetitive and all alike is not? "But it's a fat plumber trying to save a princess! It's the best! How can that be overrated?" Yeah? How can that be overrated. I wonder why people overrate it. Must be the same as that whole Pokemon and Dragonball Z stuff.

Sometimes, you don't need a good story (or story at all) to enjoy a video game. The earliest games didn't have anything akin to a story - you just did stuff because it was fun. Did Pong have a story? Nope. But would you ever deny its status as 'the' video game? I think not. Could you say that any of the Metal Gear games are 'the' video game? Not a chance, because then you'd be flamed into the deepest depths of Cocytus.
You could say that the MG series is great because of all the plot development and cool ideas that are in its mythos. But at the same time, you could say that the 'core' series of Super Mario games (SMB1,2,3,SMW,SM64,SMS and possibly SMG) are great simply because you don't have a real plot - the plot is always "go save the princess from certain peril", and you don't deviate from that. And some people prefer mindless but fun platforming over layers upon layers of convulted storylines.

MGS is overrated. Is it good? Yes. Is it REALLY GREAT!? No where near it. Over rated means people say ots better than it is. People don't say MARIO IS TEH BEST GAME EVAR! People say "Yeah its an awesome game". Which it is. So its not over rated. Being over rated doesn't mean its bad, and just because its good doesn't mean its over rated.

Hey, MGS is a great game. But I think it's over rated. I know alot of real life Drace's in terms of MGS.

Mario is a great game too, and its not over rated. No one ever says Mario is great due to aspects it doesn't contain like alot of people I've known have done on MGS. Its like FF7. People say it contains much more than it does and overplay anything that can be remotely 'deep'. No one has ever looked at Mario and said it contained "political intrigue which satired modern reality beter than anythinbg else in the world"- Real quote from a buddy o mine pn MGS. When you see Mario, everyone, even though they think its great, won't act like its not simple. But thats why they love it.

ZKX is dead until I figure out what I did to f*** up my password.

^ I agree with Sammich

MGS 3 which I played from beginning to end at my buddy's house was dull. The only thing I enjoyed was when Snake got his eye blew out, and the guy was takin a crap.

But then, I'm biased, I don't like games that have futuristic elements, part of why I'm not a huge fan of FF7. Good game, but it also became repitive.

In my opinion, Sony has much deeper story lines, while Nintendo has always focused on having fun. SSBB is going to be great, but not because of its single player. The series is terrible if you're playing alone. But when you're playing with your three closest friends, suddenly it becomes on of the greatest games out there. That is the thing Nintendo likes to do. Make you have fun with others. There are very few multiplayer Sony games, and so, you end up sitting in a room for hours on end playing a game with no social interaction

For this Nintendo is better then Sony.

Mind you, I have both a GC and a PS2, and plan on gettin both of their respective next gen systems, I just think Nintendo is a much better gaming company.
