Title: Things to Do With a Broken Dreamcast
Post by: I Have a Sandwich on September 18, 2006, 12:22:03 PM
I got a new Dreamcast the other day, and now I have my first one just sitting on my desk doing nothing. The only thing wrong with it is the disc lens, so all its 'lectrics still work fine other than that. I saw some guy make an amp outt his, but if the insides still mostly work, I'd hate to trash em. Any ideas on what I could do with it?

Go to a Dreamcast forum and ask around on how to repair it. Two > one.

Actually, for a year or so, they were king.

Only because of Phantasy Star online and Sonic Adventure.

Plug it in and try to eat it. Starting with those hot wires.

Make it into a computer. I don't know how big it is, but if you have a micro atx motherboard, you could probably fit your computer into the case, with some duct tape and some 'modifications' to the case.

I read an article in a magazine once on how people took differant things such as guitars, dolls, and even toilets and made them into computers, it was pretty cool.

You could just sell it on Ebay, there are a lot of people who buy broken systems if the lens is the only thing wrong with it because they can get it fixed. I'm not sure if you'll get much money for a dreamcast though, but a little money is better than no money. Otherwise you'll just have to use it as a paperwieght.

Use a Deep fat frier.

Finally you can litterally fry your motherboard...

Give it to someone you donīt like as a present!
Blow it up!
Make another videogame with itīs parts (make a Wii, the simpleton)!
Tie it to a rope, and olympic hammer throw it!
MAke a Nerd Hat with it!
Pee on it!
Ahá! Make a Alien base with it, and play with your long forgotten G. I. Joe!!!
Fart on it and then light it!
Destroy it and give it to Razor to eat!
Make a dildo out of it and...sell it on e-bay!!

Ok, brainstorm's over.

You know what owns about DC though? You don't have to buy a single game (If you know what to do...)

Also You can own every old school game on for it.
(from ness to some playstation games and even arcade games)

I know somone who did the Amp thing and it sucks badly. lol

Soo the DC was and still is good to the undeground world of bootleggers and homebrew game makers.

Give it to me? I could really do with Sega's flopped system, what with the fun of it all and the unplayed games and playing the ancestor to Jet Set Radio Future... I want to see a new Jet _____* Radio game.

*Blanked because I don't really care about what you guys think should go in there, but I'm not feeling presumptuous enough to try and start (and mebe even win) a debate over it.

I've never owned it, my god brother has or had it. Only game I remember from it was Donkey kong, so of course... not a very good first impression.  :p

Dreamcast owns. Period.

Anyways, the proportions are roughy 7 1/2 x 7 12 inches, and 2 3/4 deep. I wanna do SOMETHING with Dixie (Yes, I name my consoles) because now that I've got Dixie Jr. that isn't destructive. I feel like it's an old steer that can't breed anymore. Its just been so great through its life that I don't wanna put her down. Odd I know.. but its a DC.

Pics of my baby. Minus her organs. Now you can maybe get some ideas now you know its shape and such.

I think I've decided, and that is to make it into a self operating mono speaker. I've been lookin it over, and if I can find the right speaker I can add a recharable battery and an AC power adapter, as well as an audio jack. I think it could work.
