The Omega Seal Official Team Recruitment
A lot of you probably do not even remember the game, but if you do, then know that Warxe and I are still working on it. Although we have made quite some progress, it is not near as much as I had hoped to achieve by this time. Lately, we have been caught up with school and other real life issues. For me, it has primarily been school. For Warxe, it is a combination of computer problems, work and school as well. I plan on getting a job somewhere along the lines too, and there is no way that OS will even become half way complete if it is only me doing the mapping/eventing and Warxe doing the advanced coding (along with both of us sharing graphical jobs and the working the database). In short, The Omega Seal needs help.
Warxe and I have discussed it, and agree that assembling a fixed team would really help in the creation of the game. It cannot have just anybody though; we are looking for people with a well-developed knowledge of rpgmaker, as well as role playing game specifics in general. I am (I say I because this is a request of my own, and would really help me out) also looking for another/or a few other mapper(s). From what I have been told, I am a fairly good mapper. So I am looking for someone who can map just as well, a little below (I stress the word little here) or even better than I (jealousy will not be an issue seeing as it is all for the game, not personal gratification). We do not need a huge amount of people for this team, just enough to get the game progress going a lot faster than it has been. I would prefer that you were not working on a project of your own. Reasons for this include the obvious:
- More devotion to a single project instead of multiple ones.
- Having the time to work on the project without interference.
- And lastly, this is not a trade off deal. Seeing as the reason to this team assembly is because I cannot do this with Warxe’s assistance only (mind you, I am not saying that he is not helpful enough, it is far from that, he is very helpful), having the time to help someone else with their project as well would conflict with the latter. (This is for me, however. Warxe has his own agendas, so if he can help people with other projects, that is for him to decide, not me) I know it sounds pretty selfish, and I wish it were not the case, however; I am looking to create a team for the overall devotion and completion toward The Omega Seal. It is possible that I may (I really stress the word may) be able to help with something, though, if the time is permitted.
With that said, even though I prefer this, I realize that pretty much everyone is working on their own project; so if you are working on something of your own, but still want to be a team member, I will gladly accept you, regardless. ^^ These will not be small request-like positions, though. I would not be assembling a team if this were the case. So, now that I have said all of the above, let us move onto the OS recruiting. Keep in mind that I will still be doing all of these as well. I just think that with more assistance in these fields, a lot more can be completed in the same amount of time. And one last thing, this will all be a team effort, you will not be doing anything on your own, any and all ideas will be discussed before it is done. The positions are as follows:
- ***Eventing (1 or more members, maximum being 4 or 5): A lot of you may be surprised I am even considering such a position, seeing as it is basically the key to the game’s creation; and therefore should be done by the creator. But when the team is assembled, we will all be the game’s creator, not just the one who wrote the game’s story. By having multiple eventers, more scenes and overall events of the game can be completed in the same amount of time it takes me to do one. By being an eventer, you and I (seeing as I am the story creator) will most likely have the most interaction when it comes to making the game. We will talk about everything in an event, which includes what characters say, the poses and movement that occurs within the event as well as the setting. Aside from scenes, we will also plan out ideas for dungeons (obstacles, puzzles etc.), town missions and NPC interaction.
- **Mapping (1 – 3 members): Even though I’m fairly good, I’m very slow. It takes me a long time to do maps, sometimes to the point where I work on them more than the actual game. This would be fine and dandy if I had 8 years to work on the game, but sadly I really do not. Just like an Eventer, we will have quite a bit of interaction and discussion as well. When it comes to what the area will look like, what obstacles it will acquire and even the simple aspects of how big it will be. All of this will be discussed. As I stated above, though, your mapping skill has to be equal, slightly lower or of course, better than mine. I will be the judge of this, so you will have to provide me with some examples of your work, if I have not already seen it before.
- *Composer (1 member, at the most 2): This is not mandatory, but I would really like it if OS had an original soundtrack. I have tried myself, but I just do not have the skill. (I have examples of my work to prove that I have made a few attempts, if you do not believe me). We will have quite a bit of interaction as well, except we will not need to discuss as much as the previous positions require. It is quite possible that if I have an idea for a song, I’ll record myself humming the tune and send it to you. This is about the only way I can send the idea, seeing as I cannot write music. :p But I am open for any and all ideas you have as well, so if you want to do the same for me, so that I have an idea of what you want to make, then I am completely for it. ^^
- Battle Animations (amount can vary): This is one of those small positions, for people who think they can only contribute a little bit. This means a variety of members can take this position. Just like the Composer position, this is not mandatory, however anything that can keep me focused on eventing and mapping is highly welcomed. Even though it is a minor position, we will still discuss as well, seeing as battle animations are still an important graphical addition to the game. :)
- Graphical Editors (amount can vary): This includes character poses, mainly. This is not a mandatory position either, seeing as I do quite a bit of posing myself now, and from time to time I will request a necessary pose if needed. But as said before, any help is welcome.
For now, these are the current positions I can think of. When this team is assembled, I plan on getting a lot done in the time allotted. I will most likely set up a forum for overall team discussion, but instant discussion over MSN or another messenger would be a lot better. I really look forward to working with anyone interested in becoming an OS team member. The positions are listed by importance, which is indicated by asterix' (*). Anyone interested in becoming a member will be informed of all the current OS information, which includes seeing the current progress, any and all screenshots that are not public and of course, has the option to read the full written story. (For the eventer, this will most likely be a mandatory requirement) Hopefully OS progress will sky rocket once this team is assembled. Without assistance, I doubt it will progress much further than it has, so I am really looking for anyone interested in the most important positions indicated.
