Storyline
The times are dark.  Food is scarce.  Ever since the tyrant Emperor Dolor seized the land, Regnum has beed living in poverty.  The people are poor, yet Dolor still extracts heavy taxes.  The fiend does not even care for the people, just the trickle of prosperity he forces from them.  Every week, or that about, he sends collectors to every single town, village, and city, however small, to seize his riches, our riches.  These collectors, they are the most crude and wicked of men.  They take more than is required and keep the excess for themselves.  They terrorize the women and children, laughing with their accursed cackles.

On one such visit, an elderly woman had the courage to stand up to the collector.  In turn, the collector harrassed the woman.  Angered, a young man from the village took a fist to the devil.  He got him good, yes he did.  Unfortunately, the rebel, God bless his soul, was caught by the tax collector and was beaten to death with the man's bare hands.

Oh, it was a mournful day for the village of Sprevi.  All the people lamented for the loss of the boy's life.  He had many sad friends, he did, and one of his closests, Valeo and his brother Aquilus, vowed to avenge him.  They demanded revenge upon the tax collector and Dolor.

Aside from a slightly cliche story, it actually looks pretty good.  Looking forward to playing it.

The only thing cliche about this story is the avenge part.

It's not a slighly cliche story it has one part that is cliche.

Anywho, some of the screens don't load but it looks pretty good.

Ah, yes, I know, I will revise the story.  About the images:  They load for me.  Maybe you just have to wait for them to load?  Anyways, thanks for the comments.

Your mapping is getting better, but there's still a few problems. Things too blocky, the water doesn't look correct, other problems, blah blah. If you need some mapping ideas and examples, refer to the Screenshot Central thread. There's a lot of good maps in there.

What do you mean by "the water doesn't look correct?"

The water, in a few screens, looks like... Well... Flat squares of water on the ground. There should be a proper chip that should make the water look more like a river.

Uhhh... No. There is no trasition chip for water to grass. That dark water would make it look the same, just... darker.
Title:

Yes, that's what I thought.
Title:
Post by: I Have a Sandwich on October 01, 2006, 11:33:14 PM
Well, its a neccessity if you want to have water with land.
Title:
Post by: crossfire on October 01, 2006, 11:36:12 PM
Well, um, can you edit the chipset for me or something?
Title:
Post by: drenrin2120 on October 02, 2006, 12:38:45 AM
It's very easy my friend. Find a mac and blue chipset with a transition from grass to water, make sure the grass matches and just copy paste over the old water.

Ah, yes, thank you, but I have no idea what "mac and blue" means.  Anyways, I just made the edge of the water a short cliff, so new screens coming your way soon.

Here are some new screenshots of the fixed water edge.  Yes, I know it still looks slightly awkward.

Not all the water in the world has to be three feet below ground level. Try finding something else for regular areas.

He means that the water is the same height below the ground in all of those pics. Real water isn't.

So, you're saying I should add some waterfalls or what?

He saying that not all the water in your game should be 3 feet below the land, that you could make it like 2 inches or something.

Oh, I see.  But most of those screenshots are of the same village.  Oh, by the way, I'm trying to get ideas for the system look.  I'm gonna have something like this:
-------------------------------------------
| Name:
| Message
-------------------------------------------
Do you think it would look good if the name was purple and the message gold?
Title:
Post by: crossfire on October 03, 2006, 10:32:31 PM
Ok, then.  Here's a sample of the system:

What do you think?

Post by: crossfire on October 05, 2006, 03:52:26 AM
No input?  Ok, anyways, I've finished the very beginning of the introdution, and I'll post up some screens pretty soon.  Still, what do you think of the system?

I have finished more of the introduction.  Here is the Regnum throne room.

XDD

Have you changed the hero's facesets? The ones you put by the character descriptiions are pretty nasty- I'm guessing you did the creepy smiles yourself.

Yes, thank you for reminding me.  I have created updated facesets and will have them up as soon as possible.

Oh, and enough with the throne room comments...  There are some throne rooms with tables in them.  Such as in Golden Sun.
