Title: Frames Per second Rate
Post by: plightofthepureblood on October 06, 2006, 02:14:13 AM
Does anyone know what the FPS is on the battle animations in RM2K3?

Ive been scanning my resources and cant seem to find it....

And it happens to be a number I really badly need to know.

It depends on how many frames are in the battle anim

No, actually, that determines how long it is. FPS is how many frames it always plays in one second. I'd assume 12, maybe 24.

Frame per second is how many frames are used , per every second of animation.

Cells per second, would be FBS multiplied by Eight, as there are Eight Cells per Frame....

Im quite sure its (FPS rate) not 12.... I know At first I for some reason assumed it would be at 15....but that dosent work either.....

Youd think this would be posted somewhere.

If you had a basic recorder and video prog you could break it down.

If I had a stopwatch I could break it down.
But I have Neither.

Im gonna break it down anyway. I just gotta dance, y'know?

Just gotta express yourself through the art of dance...

Dance.....And FPS rate.

Im just like you guys....I put my pants on one leg at a time....only when I do, I move the soul with my b-boy stance.

I'll try it in a second.

EDIT: Did it. I got about 16.

If you got about 16, its probably running 15 FPS. Most games and such run at 60 FPS, I've seen some run at 30 FPS and 45 FPS. If the battle animations follow this pattern, then its most likely 15.

Through a series of horribly controlled and timed tests....

Ive come to the following conclusion....

The RPGmaker2003 Battle animation Flows at Exactly the following framerate....

Drumroll.....

About 24, Im thinkin.

Ive been timing my voices and animation together with some trial and error tests, and Its looking like its 24.

I found that a 100fps anim lasts the same as a 20. It might just be the rm2k3 thingy I have.

It varies from machine to machine. I should know, I've screwed around with these things on three or so different computers.

dude, the FPS rate of Battle animations on RPGM2K3....
It would have to be a constant....
Maybee the lag difference from Comp. to comp. may vary...
But every animation....every film reel.....

It has an FPS rate........ And Im pretty sure RPGmaker dosent check your processor and say "hmm....pentium 3, wed better keep it at 24...
Pentium 2.....12........" A figure like FPS is a CONSTANT that animators use to calculate voice synch, and timing and such.

Sure,  100 FPS animations can last less than all kindof of 20 FPS animations....it depends on how long the animation was made to be.Its like, a ton of feathers and a ton of bricks....
Its still a ton. Its still "per second"
I think you may be confused. Im not talking about slowing anything down or speeding it up. Im Talking about The Unit of measurment used to calculate how many frames are intended per second of animation.

Again.....Im pretty sure that its not a Variable figure, in terms of machine. Perhaps RM2K, and 2K3 may have different rates....
But various programs of RM2K3 should all run the same Battle animation FPS rate, unless there were a little entry field that allowed you to dictate the FPS rate....And if there is, somebody please tell me.

I asked a similar question a long time ago. I wanted a 1 second battle animation. Warxe tested a 40. I mean, even if it's RM2k, your comp still has to do the work to display it right?
