Title: Did you reserve a Wii or PS3?
Post by: Smokey_locs2006 on October 19, 2006, 05:00:42 AM
Why yes, yes I did =D

I got both of them and spent about an extra 400 bucks between them.

Even got a new Comp Monitor/TV from Dell.

Now all I need to do is save up for my Lazy Boy chair and get ready to neglect my girlfriend/s.

Even when I had a job I didn't have that kind of money. Jesus.

I'm not decided yet on whether I'm going to get a Wii for Christmas, but I know I'm not getting it before.

Nope.

Post by: Prpl_Mage on October 19, 2006, 12:44:51 PM
Nah, I´ll get it when it is released.
Feels better that way, maybe they all get sold during the first day but then I´ll come back next week.
Pre ordering or reserve them feels like I´m totally addicted(wich I guess that I actually am).

Nope. I never buy a first series of a product. There's bound to be something that'll be weird. Everything has had it.

I'm preorderingPS3, but I'll buy the Wii normally, because 1274901879814 of them are available.

I don't think I'll ever get either of them.

I might get a Wii, but only around the time I get a girlfriend.

That whole sentence is definitely an oxymoron. But nope, I don't need any new game systems. If I ever get it, it'll be when it's like 50 bucks and there are virtual reality games out.

None yet...I gotta wait for the chinese to make a pirate chip for them and send them to Brazil so I can buy them...Sorry Sony, sorry Nintendo, if you´re not gonna build them here in my country I gotta buy them from someone, and that´ll be the one who sells CHEAPER. In my case, the chinese mafia.

Wii, when Smash Brothers comes out.
The console should be cheaper ($400AUD), and maybe I can get a Brawl Bundle.

However, I will definately be buying the Twilight Princess come this Christmas.

1stly, Grandy, reading a book is NOT MANLY, especially when elves are in it, you little jerk.
2ndly, why do you think everyone is going to be playing their new system 24/7 I play vids like 5 hours a week, and I'm on the computer like half an hour more. Other things I do during the week that are MORE MANLY THAN ANYTHING YOU HAVE EVER DONE: Play football, paly guitar, cook, go out with friends, stay in with friends, smoke weed, sell weed, spend thyme with my wife.

Graphically, no, not as impressive as the ps3, however, it does look impressivly fun, didn't you pick up a stick as a child and whack at someone as if it were a sword, if so, you know how fun that was, plus first person shooters actually LOOK fun.

I make 10.00 and after 5:00 I make 10.75 and on weekends
(inculding friday) I make 11.00 plus i alway get my overtime in at time and a half. I work about 45 to 55 hours per week, so I make decent money doing Advance Tech Support for sprint on PDA's and Palm Polites and I got 5 of my friends to work at sprint so they gave me a 1,000 buck bonus.. So yeaah I just got what I've been wanting forever..

I want them both because

1. I have the money

2. I love FF and Smash Bros. and could never pick between them.

3. It'll keep me from selling drugs.. lol (not really....)

As for the gfx n such, many new games have great gfx, but what do they bring?
"Hey, 360 looks so awesome! What game is it used in!? An fps?... Whats the hook, its gotta be great!... No hook? So... its identical to every other game, just pretty? Wow... Uhhhhh... fun?"
Same with the PS3, just imagine it for RPGs. With the Wii, it'll be a totally new experience.
"So, its another adventure game that looks like GC? Whats the hook?... I get to perform different sword techniques just by moving? Sweet."

The Wii is going to be like an arcade machine in your own house.

I go for what's affordable and has the games I really want on it. And neither XBox 360 or the PS3 has any games on it that I care for (sans MGS4, but I really don't feel like paying $600+ to play it), but nintendo has a Zelda game at launch (super w00t!), Red Steel, a Smash Bros. game in the works, a Metroid game on the horizon, and a reincarnation of Duck hunt! And it costs less than the XBox (old one) did at launch! That's what sells me. And graphics? I still play my NES, do you think I care that much about graphics? No. I'm all about the quality and fun level of a game, not the eye candy. So... WII!!!

But the XBox 360 has Halo 3 and Halo Wars, so that's starting to come close (very close) to being a must-have...

And the PS3 keeps giving me reasons not to want it... Shame, I was so excited about it at first...

Gay? The name XBOX just tries to hard and PS3 is just a used up old name with a number. At least Nintendo added an adjective and a number that sounded cool.

I prolly won't even bother ever gettin a PS3

Why? Well, everyone knows, square is right about to go out of business. What'll happen then? Who's gonna buy PS3 for all its oter great non - FF games? Not too many.

Nintendo should have left it as the Revolution, but none the less, I can guarentee that it sweeps the market. Just look at what happened with the DS. All the nay-sayers said "PsP will be better" I know two people that have a PSP, and like 20 that have a DS. The sales for PSP are dropping as well, as more good games come for DS, and no good ones for PSP.
Title:

The problem with this statement is that you are wrong.

You see, people who don't play FPSs don't see that much difference between each one, and that's understandable. But the truth of the matter is that each FPS is pretty different in gameplay, not by adding some new innovative switch like a new type of levelling system in an RPG, but rather changing the feel of the game and adding new weapons and new strategies.

RPGs improve on abilities, spells, levelling systems, etc. Strategy games improve on new units, new maps, new abilities. FPSs improve on new weapons, new vehicles, new controls.

Anyone who's played Halo 2 and Call of Duty 2 can clearly see the differences, besides just the setting and graphics. Call of Duty 2, for starters, doesn't focus on jumping as much, since it's jumping is pretty pitiful. CoD2 focuses much more on finding cover. As an addon to this, they have smoke grenades to conceal the area. Also, your life goes down way faster than it does in Halo 2.

Adversely, Halo 2 has vehicles. The scale of combat in Halo 2 is much bigger than CoD2. Banshees, Ghosts, Warthogs, they're all big monsters that can run you over or shoot you. However, they're also a bigger target for weapons like the rocket launcher, something that, as far as I've played with my friends, isn't in CoD2. This goes in with the jumping - a lot of dodging can be done by moving back and forth and jumping in Halo 2, and as such there are many more open areas and the environments are generally bigger. The weapons work differently too. Plus, health(shields) regenerates fairly quickly, so you can run behind a corner, hide for about 4 seconds, and come back out as a brand new soldier.

Don't get me started on Farcry or Counterstrike, either. Nor Quake 3, where strafe jumping and rocket jumping reign supreme.

The Wii is certainly innovative, and it could do a lot for FPSs, but 360 FPSs are doing just fine without it.

That is my opinion Moose, and whilst you may see it as 'wrong', I clearly don't believe it so otherwise I wouldn't have said such a statement. I have extensivley played many, many FPS games for the 360. While Halo may have cars or some other may have a neat little gimmick, they all feel the same to me. You may disagree, but I have played many FPS games, and they all feel the same. Are they fun, sure. But often times it feels as if I'm just playing another FPS but with lasers or some such.

On another note, this was just to odd not to say: I just say a Pedigree dog food commercial with David Duchovny. He's kind of gone now huh?

Gonna make a little list here for 1 basic sentence.

[Enter game 1] does not feel the same as [enter game 2].

Command and Conquer: Renegade
Turok
Goldeneye
Medal of Honor
Far Cry
Quake
Doom
Return to castle Wolfenstein
Call of Duty
Halo
Killzone
Battlefield 1942
F.E.A.R.
Hexen
Counterstrike
Half Life
America's Army

and the list goes on.

You're statement is your opinion, but foolish to my eyes and that of osmose's.

I've played 12 of those games Drace, and I can say that they feel the same to me. By feel I don't mean the mood of the game, because obviously, those are different. I mean, GoldenEye I laugh at and Doom (3) will make you **** your pants. I mean strictly gameplay-wise they feel the same to me.
