Title: What fictional character would you like to be?
Post by: Razor on October 21, 2006, 04:42:47 AM
Simple question.
Who?

Oh wow. I never pictured you as an atheist, Osmose. Um, I guess if I had the choice of only a fictional character, I would be... My character from Oblivion. It's not that he's bad-ass or anything, but just to live in a fnatasy world like that would be so much fun... Either him or Spiderman. Either one wins.

EDIT: Couldn't help myself... Link.

The invisable man. Duh.

"My name is Darien Fawkes,
they call me Furious D
and I’m the coolest secrete agent
that you never did see!
The Man turned me invisible,
now I be miserable,
you mess with my hair I’m bound to get physical!
Now I was locked down and looking at life
4 walls and a guy named Butch for a wife
when my bother, undercover,
said that we could help each other
if his mother of a brother
would go under the knife!
A hole in my head, a gland in my brain,
a needle in my vein or I go insane!
That’s the curse of quicksilver,
the stuff that bends light...
I get closer to madness the more I *THUNK*"
-Darien, being cut off by Hobbes.

That movie was terrible, but Alexander's life was not. I could go into a huge history essay, but suffice to say, that if Alex himself had seen that movie he would have killed himself. Yes - He was bisexual. But his life wasn't boring. There was war everyday. Attempts to murder him often. He led a dangerous life, and that movie failed to show the interesting side of him.

Whether or not they're brothers they are still related, and that one chick was kinda like their sister. I mean, they had the same dad. (kinda).

Anywho, if I could be any fictional character, I'd be the Pheonix from Xmen, and then use my matter changing powers to make myself a dude, and fly around the universe blowing crap up. Heck yeah.

Ok, I liked Troy because of the ACTION. The fight scenes were awsome, so GRR.

Glitch - (spoiler crap) They're all clones with no souls. Zidane and his sister (I forgot her name) are pretty much the only ones with souls. Kuja was a first failed experiment. Which is why he hates everything and looks like a he-she. Yeah, the old guy garlard (I think that was his name) is their father in the sense that he created them. I love this game, ^_^ FF12 COMES OUT THE 31!!! <.<

Edit - I may be wrong about the sister. <.<

Haha! I already have it! Thanks to the mafia and chinese people, I have FF12, complete, in english, for about two months now, and I didn't even knew it wasn't released!

Now, if you want a comment, let me say that it SUCKS! If you guys of Square want to do a turn-based RPG, do a turn-based f*cking RPG! If you want to make a action RPG, do a f*cking action RPG!
PUTTING THE TWO TOGHETER DOES NOT WORK!
You have to attack like it's a action RPG, like Zelda series, but everytime you attack, you have to wait untill your "wait" gauge fill up for you to attack again!
It may look good at the beggining, maybe you can dodge some attacks by running from the monsters? What's this? The monsters run after you, faster than you, AND they never miss, unless by a small chance you get the "miss", just like a turn-based?
Now think about it, that DOES NOT MAKE SENSE!
I could very well don't move my character the whole battle and act as it's turn-based, but there's still the matter that party memebers, other than you, can't be controlled.

Besides that, the game is actually good, but when a game with that many fights has a battle system I dislike it really throwns off everything else.

That AND most likelly George Lucas could sue Square for a BLATANT rip off of Star Wars.
Title: To Grandy
Post by: aboutasoandthis on October 27, 2006, 05:29:13 PM
A lot of reviews say that is the games biggest problem. You'll either like the battle system or you'll hate it, and that's the only thing wrong with it since it has a lot of battles. I liked the demo so...hopefully I'll love the game.

As for bootlegging Square-Enix. :badboy:
Title:
Post by: Moosetroop11 on October 27, 2006, 05:33:14 PM
I assumed it would be alot like KOTOR's system. Is that the case Grandy? Because I'll love it if it is.
Title:
Post by: Grandy on October 27, 2006, 06:58:38 PM
I never played KOTOR.

 And I don't know what's bootlegging.

EDIT: Oh, you mean getting it illegally? Believe me, I didn't knew it wasn't released yet, secondly, it was either this or nothing, there's not a legalized video game store in miles, and finnally, a bootlegged game costs R$15-18, a original one, R$100-150. See where I'm going?

Post by: aboutasoandthis on October 27, 2006, 09:38:08 PM
On Kotor imo is like this. You've got slots in a corner of the screen. Each of these slots can be filled with some kind of action.

Whatever is in the first slot, your guy will do. After it disappears, the second slot will move forward and he'll do that. This kind of keeps the game fast paced.

You can stop battle too to select who to attack and stuff. I like it. I don't play it that much though. If it's not Like FF12, judging from the screens I'd say FF13 will be just like it.
Title:
Post by: Grandy on October 27, 2006, 09:55:48 PM
 It's.. not really that way.

It's kinda, you choose that action "Attack" now you character punch/slash/wathever the enemie, and then you have to wait... wait... wait... wait... wait... until finnaly the gauge fills and you attack again. now wait... wait... wait... wait... and you attack again.

I gues the point is that you should dodge attacks while the gauge fills, but you really can't, 'cause, as far as I've played, all the enemies are faster than you are, so all this do is to buy you 1/2 seconds before you get hit, and still only if you run somewhere where there isn't a wall.
Title: Haven't played the game yet.
Post by: aboutasoandthis on October 27, 2006, 10:18:55 PM
You using the Lisence Grid yet? How does that work? Shouldn't attacking be automatic until you tell it to stop?

If I had to pick a character to be, I'd be a Chocobo as well as Pikachu. I can fly, shoot meteors, and walk on water.
Title:
Post by: Grandy on October 27, 2006, 11:13:00 PM
'kay, the learning system, is like...

You have this chess-like board, and your initial skilz are there, each square is another skill, that skill can be either magic, techniques or abilities like the ability to use a sword or a spear.
Once you have learned a skill, you may choose to learn another that is square either above, below, or in each side of the squares you have already unlocked. Basically is that, but it has somethings with levels and such that I can't quite figure out how it works either.
You can also learn Limit-Break-ish attaks in the grid, but anyone can learn any of those attacks, but only one time and only to one person.
It's like, imagine FF7, but you can teach Cloud's attack to Barret, and once you do Cloud can't use it.

And yes, in battles, the character keeps attacking endless (only attack, if you want magic, you'll have to chose it, wait until the gauge fills and he/she autmatically shoots, then you'll have to choose it again), unless your press triangle, but he only attacks once the gauge is full, and you must get near the enemy in order to attack.
You must choose your actions before the gauge fills, and once it fills, that action is automatically used, pressing a button opens the menu, and it freezes the game while you choose your action (or you can choose it so it doesn't freezes time.) if no action is chosen, the gauge will keep full until you chose one.

The only good thing in this system is the NPCs helpers that you may find. As an example, you are in low health, and a monster is attackking you, in the far distance, you see someone, who you know is not a monster, if you run near him, he can help you by either attacking the monster or healing you. I've found only a white mage up until now, but he casted protect on me and that helped a little.
