Title: AH!!! This angers me! (Spoiler Alert)
Post by: Meiscool-2 on October 28, 2006, 12:54:02 AM
Alright, so, in two days time, starting yesterday, I watched the complete series of Fate Stay Night.

If you havn't watched the anime, and/or don't want to know the ending, please stop reading here, and skip down to the bottom. If you don't care, leave or continue.

-----------------------------Spoilers----------------------------------------
The ending irrates me. It's very well constructed, and litterally made me want to tear up, but it's just so bleak. The basic plot of Fate Stay Night is that there are 7 "Summoners" and 7 "Summons". These Summons battle at the command of their master for a prize that consists of one wish for both the Summoner and the Summon. Shiro, the last summoner, acidentally summons the strongest spirit, Saber (Who is a female version of King Arthur), and joins the fight for the prize in the name of Moral Justice.

The entire series from Ep 2 tells you that they (Being Shiro and Saber) are going to fall in love, and builds that up pretty well. In the final four Eps, you can tell this even greater, as they "die" for each other every 5 minutes.

Of course, it was predictible that Saber, being a spirit, would fade in the end instead of Shiro using his Command to keep her, as all animes with a love theme have this ending, but I seriously thought this would be different. Much of the series they talk to each other about contradictions, and how Shiro never thinks of himself. I honestly thought that in the end, Shiro would take Saber's advise and make a wish for himself and be selfish, just once. Instead, he does what Saber wants him to do, and destroies the prize, thus ending the battle for the prize for at least 10 years.

I gotta say, of all the anime endings, this has been the best I've seen so far. The anime itself isn't real great, but the ending and love story was top noch.

---------------------End Spoiler--------------------

So, if anyone has seen Fate Stay Night and wants to make a comment on this, go ahead. However, I made this for a second reason: Has any movie, TV show, comic series, whatever, (try to keep games out of this) ever wowed but disapointed you at the same time? As in, you knew one thing was going to happen, but you desperatly wanted another to happen? I'm sure we all have. Feel free to post those as well. MAKE SURE to post if they have spoilers and what the spoilers are for (aka, TV show name ect) first.

So, what makes you mad/sad?

*Pulls out Big-O sign yet again* The ending to that I can effectivley say that no one was able to see it coming. When I first saw it, I swear I had two reactions: My jaw hit the ground but at the same time I did a hearty "WTF".

...Big-O pwns, yeha. On an off note, how many people are getting tired of my fandom? XD

Hellsing and FLCL.
FLCL was so good, and my heart was liek t, but the series was so short.

Hellsing's ending was amazing, but it ended in such a way that it was like SHOW 2 MORE MINUTES OF THIS! PL0X~!

dracura | arucard
dracula | alucard

Just saying.
I mean, you don't have one of those retarded Japanese tongues, so embrace your L's.

Well, yeah. The only problem I had with Hellsing is that they had no idea how guns work, and yet tried so hard to make it look like they did. First of all, guns of Alucard's caliber would just break after a few clips. Also, in the slow motion sequences, the bullets were flying through the air with their casings still attached. It's still my favorite anime though. It gets 100% of my harbl <3

edix: Mid, don't be gross. I have no idea how old you are. I don't want to get arrested. Oh God.. you're a cop aren't you! THIS IS ENTRAPMENT!
AND I'M CATHERINE ZETA JONES! OR.. SEAN CONNERY.

I never saw the last half hour of the movie.

I like arucard........ <.< SCREW THE L'S... and Seres's weapons were seriously stupid. I didn't see the first episode, but I caught the rest. I was kinda disappointed that it was a short season. I saw blood the last vampire (the movie), it was interesting. I might see the series.. has anyone seen it? Is it good? Wellll?

I'm 18 dummie <<

The series on Spike TV?
It blows.

It's not the same with out WESLEY.

Mr. Butlertron: OH WESLEY

Edix: Well, what am I worried about? 14 is legal in Canada.

NOT THAT THAT CONCERNS ME.

Wesley? Young boy?

I saw the season on encore, it was only like 12 eps.

Should I be worried? o.o

Wesley Snipes is the original Vin Diesel, who is the original Chuck Norris.

Ya, I seen Fate Stay Nights ending coming... it didn't surprise me what with the other two scenarios of the manga (I'd say here, but I don't wanna spoil if you haven't read, let's just say that they're bleaker than the anime one. D: ). For the record though, it was beautifully executed. o.o

As for another one that was like that... Full Metal Alchemist. The ending to the series was ambiguous, and the movie... well, not really sure of what to think about it.

I dunno, one of the Huxtable children went out with a 30 year old when she was 16.. That's gnarled, though.
Stop talking about this stuff anyways, it makes me uncomfortable.

Well....I like Death Note. Priest is a manga, but its 500% more badass than most animes and mangas put together. I have yet to see some sissy-*** little furry animal in the series. Kudos to Min-Woo Hyung.

Too much effort.. <.<

Has anyone seen paranoia agent? I just started watching it, and it seems.. somewhere interesting.

Ya, those two.

I REALLY wish they incorperated part of Unlimited Blade Works into the anime though, the Archer bit (if you know what I'm talking about, anyways).

Reminded me somewhat of Boogiepop Phantom, but less creepy. I still prefer Boogiepop Phantom.

I've seen a few episodes of Desert Punk, and it's really wicked. It's all.. desertey..

-SPOILERS-

That Shiro is actually Archer? Yeah, they should've done something with that.

Though, they did hint at a few things. Like, Archer said: "Llya, just as I remember you." and other things like that to hint that he had gone through the entire thing before.

Indeed.

It would've been interesting. I found the fact that Archer's blades introduced a time paradox funny though. Shiro made them from seeing Archer use them. Archer being Shiro would've done the same with the past Archer from HIS memory, meaning they came from nowhere. <_<... I dunno, just thinking about it (lack of sleep is making me, >> ).

Not to mention I wish they incorperated part of the other scenario as well--Rider had a huge part in that one, as opposed to the anime scenario, she needed a bigger part imo.

Geh... FMA's dragging me back in... ;.;

I agree. The movie was cool, but, ehh...........
