Title: Strange Halloween Experiences
Post by: Zerlina on October 28, 2006, 04:49:01 PM
From the diary of an anime noob.

Alright, so a few days ago I received this e-mail from a friend tleling me there was going to be a halloween party on Friday (yesterday). So I was pretty excited because I love halloween. She said it was anime-themed so I thought "OK might be fun."

I spent the week sewing my costume (neko maid) and my other friends worked on theirs. We decided we would go as harajuku girls a while ago, so it wasn't too much of a problem to go for this party.

We got there and it turned out- holy ****. This is an anime convention that just happens to be on halloween night -____-.

So we were thinking "Ok...well it's raining and it took us over an hour to get here so we might as well stay."

There was a dance room, so we went into there and no one was dancing. They were all kind of just standing, and the people who WERE dancing were uh...dancing really strangely? At least when we were there.

But in the end we ended up having a good time because there was karaoke and my friend and I are both studying music. I think we hogged it a little to tell you the truth ^^'.

I couldn't get over the people who were there though. Some were very very nice and really funny, but some were just so strange. For some reason it seemed the better the costume they were wearing the more strange they were (with one exception). Every time we went somewhere, people kept looking at us. These guys kept taking pictures and then would randomly come up, say nothing, put their arm around you and have someone take a picture. It was the weirdest experience of my life. Remind me to never talk to guys who like anime -___-. EVER.

I did meet....four nice people though, who were pretty funny. And I'm sure there were lots of nice people that we just didn't talk to. Also, it seemed like whoever organized it put a lot of work into it, and the setup was very nice. I liked the karaoke especially ^^.

Lots of people, I'm sure, had fun. It just...wasn't the place for me ^^'.

So any weird halloween experiences to share?

When I was 15, I engaged in a Halloween full of underage drinking and vandalism. We were at an elementary school drinking, and these two cops come around the corner. We're standing there, trying to hide our drinks and everything.. then one of them says 'It's a bit early for underage drinking, isn't it?' I looked at my watch, it said 9:30. Then the cops left. The night went on.

It was pretty weird.

My school always has a costume contest for Halloween, and the same guy always wins. One year he went as a nerd, one year he went as the Mad Hatter, and I can't remember what he went as the other year.  We're all wondering what he'll dress up as this year.  :)

Mr.Mister, That's because you live in Canada.

Zerlina, anime conventions are scary places, you're just lucky you didn't have to see fat 40 year olds in Sailor moon costumes with their man junk hanging out... ewww....

And the reason the ones with the best costumes were so strange is because they are the ones who spent hours and alot of money putting it together, those kind of people are the ones who live for Anime, the ones whose idea of a fun saturday is a night full of watching some weird obscure anime. The ones who want to go live in Japan cause they think its so cool!
As you can see, I don't like those people.

That episode was great. Strange, but great.

Umm, I can honestly say I've never had a weird halloween experience, I had a weird after Halloween experience, at my crazy evil psycho demented aunts house... but that's a story for another day.

Halloween has always been boring for me. Then again, Britain doesn't celebrate it nearly as much as the US and such places. Sometimes I even forget which day it's on and miss it :p

Lol. My weirdest Halloween experience was a few years ago, when I finally gave up trick-or-treating. People kept asking me for shit! Not just candy, but weird things! "Can I have your cat?", "Can I have a dollar instead?", "Are you a girl?"... Ok, that last one didn't have so much to do with weird little kids, but more to do with my long hair... But you get the picture.

My weirdest Halloween was yesterday.

Because Halloween isn't on a weekend, my school/general area I live in celebrated it friday night. I dressed as an Emo, and laughed my *** off acompanied by my pals.

Yeah, me dressing as an emo was the weird part. Duh.

BTW, emo chicks (AKA: guys that look like girls) must have NO balls. I was in deep pain all day except for gym class, where I got to remove the girl pants and wear shorts.

Interesting fact: Tight pants lower your sperm count significantly. Which means emos are a dying breed. :D

I don't know if I had any 'wierd' halloween experiances, but I had some interesting ones...

One time, I was at my grandmas handing out candy. I dressed like this one screen/alien dude, I had the bowl of candy in my hands, and I had a sign around my neck saying "take 1" or something like that... Anyway, most people thought I was just a statue or something, and when someone tried to take more than one peice, I grabbed their hand and scared the **** out of them. This one time, there was this one little girl who was afraid to grab some candy, her mom assured her that I was just a statue... Well after the little girl grabbed some candy and turned around to go back to her mom, I waved at the mom. She jumped, started started swearing, and ran away... This was around 4 in the afternoon...

Then last year, I was working at a haunted hay ride and got my knee ran over by a tractor... that was kind of fun...

XD I've seen people who pretend to be a statue at the local park just so they can scare tourists when those come too close.

Anyway, nothing ever happened with me on halloween.
