or any other game you all want to put against CT. Now stop spamming df2's thread. Discuss, and enjoy. *mutters*lazy bastards..*mutters*
Edit: Zelda sucks.. CT sucks.. boo..
-
Thanks Mid. Now I hope that my thread can remain clean from stuff like that.
Personally I think that CT is better than OoT. By a small fraction, no doubt.
-
Not a problem sir.
-
I like OoT, because I never played CT before.
-
That's why they invented emulators! :p

DON'T GIVE IN!! Actually... the only real issue I had with it was the different endings. I never bothered to beat it, and I even got it for playstation. Although don't get it for ps, it takes years to load.. unless you're using a ps2... hm.. it might go faster on a ps3.
-
Yeah, I'm not much of a gamer as I used to be. Now my interests switched to music and girls :p .
-
LOL, he's becoming a man. :jest:
-
Now all I need to do is get that blonde to go out with me.
-
Man, ALttP pwns them both. Seriously.
-
Im gonna say this once.
Chrono trigger.....came out a significant amount of time before Oot.
And it had things in it, that I had never seen before in an RPG before that time.
The Different endings, and secrets were wicked. The Court scene, and how it integrated the various switches triggered before hand, was wicked also.
Chrono Trigger, in summary.....pwns.
Especially Zelda. Besides, this is like apples and oranges. ABS vs a Side view. The chrono trigger's plot pwnd over Zelda titles to date with CT.
The Graphics ruled all over Zelda titles to date.
Somebody wil undoubtedly disagree.....but you should have at least tried both before making a decision here.
One thing I didnt like.....about CT that is....
Crono's Costum/Character Design was weak.
-
Zelda games are the base of all cliche. It's hard to have a game that beats the cliche king. (I mean all Zeldas against CT, not just OoT.)
-
Dude, OoT had better gfx then CT. Don;t try to act like it doesn't. However, I don;t care too much for OoT. However, I love Majoras Mask. MM> Every other Zelda and CT.
-
Although, I'm gonna lean more towards Zelda. I like big open worlds where you could get lost. The original and OoT did this.
I still don't really like Chrono Trigger. :P I did like Chrono Cross. I think to appreciate Trigger, you'd have to play it more than once. I didn't really like the storyline either. It was corny. I like em serious.
-
I prefered Chrono cross over chrono Trigger. And I never got past the first disc ;.;

Thank you, "States the Obvious" Man.
Dude the platforms were different. This is why its apples and oranges.
Different bitrate...came out later than ct. So by direct comparison....
MM was sweet, dont get me wrong. MM an LttP were waaay better than other titles I played. But When you look at the differences in release dates in ratio to the general gameplay innovation...
By todays standarsd, CT is pretty clichee. But back then, it was not.
Zeldas first 3 console releases werent all that cliche.
But the series as a whole, hasnt done anything special with itself, aside from non linear time. And it overuses these, in subsequent titles.
-
Wait, I just got a good question: Can a game posess cliches that it created itself?
-
No, no it can't. If it created the cliche that just means it was so awesome that everyone tried to copy it poorly.
-
Im confused now.
How do you mean?
Like, Now in every Zelda Game, the Ocarina, or some mask, is pretty much to be expected......I guess that would be a franchise Trademark.
But then, I think back to Final Fantasy......
Everyone Calls the Crystals Clichee, but FF damn near started that shizzy to my recollection. But thats not a franchise Trademark...Other Games just tend to rip it off.
But then you gotta take into consideration the role Literature plays in it all....
God, Im overthinking this.
Im gonna Say YES.
Because Im sick of that stupid Flute in Zelda.

How are you even comparing the games? They aren't similar. Chrono Trigger is a turn based RPG, Zelda is an action adventure game. Apple and oranges. Chrono Trigger is an amazing game, and so is Zelda. But they are amazing in different ways. Don't over analyze things!
-
Just before I say anything, I am a big fan of both games, but when it comes down to it, Zelda OoT was the better of the two.
Both brought new concepts and worlds into the industry, that are seen in a whole slew of titles, both at the time had top-notch graphics, and both you could easily find yourself lost into.
However, in the end Zelda held my attention longer... MUCH longer, I am looking at a 50 hour difference, when I play a game, I play to complete it. Zelda's hunt for items, hearts and other mysteries kept me going for a long *** time, always intent to complete (Although I did NOT get all the golden Skultullas.) Chrono Trigger I thought was much to linear compared to Zelda, although you could challange the final boss at anytime, if you are like me, you were going to wait till the last chance, after you saw the whole story for what it was. Zelda opened up a new world, Chrono Trigger did not.
You can argue that Chrono Trigger did change dramatically frequently, by changing Era's in which you played, but if you think about it, so did Zelda, only it provided one large change in atmosphere, isntead of one.
OoT comes ahead in just about every aspect for me.
Oh, and just so you know, I thought Majora's mask was much better than Oot.
-
So did I.
-
Never was much of a fan of Chrono Trigger. I'd have to play it more to offer a complete opinion though.
But, OoT, and subsequently, MM were excellent games. They have to keep some things in the game the same, or they would be completely unrelated.
Plight's comment about the Ocarina being overused. Well, compare the Ocarina to Excalibur in the FF series. It has been in every game (as far as I know) and it is expected to be there. Just like Moogles and Chocobos, which can be compared to Zelda's unique races.
I love OoT and MM, OoT a bit more because it came out first and just was excellent. I loved MM, but OoT I have played so many times, and never gotten bored. MM is a bit more challenging, and I can never remember where to go next. OoT just seems to stick in my mind a lot more.

...ZELDA DOES NOT SUCK!!!!!
*explodes from anger*
ALL Zelda games hold a special place in my heart...Ahh..to be in Termina or Hyrule forever..<333333333333333333333

well chrono trigger is good..why because it had a anime to go along with it. And the anime was pretty damn good. Zelda on the other has released way more games now...it does'nt matter about the past lets think now..the future..i vote for neither..why you say? Because they are both very good games..

Perhaps you can't compare them, but you still say which game you like better.
Zelda OoT should win by miles, shame on you charas. v_v
-
I've never played the Chrono series or even Majora's mask. But I must say, Ocarina of Time is one of the greatest games (If not THE greatest game) known the man.
Hazaar for the Virtual Console, amirite?
-
I'm not gonna go into details, but here's two simple reasons why CT is better. Even though I do agree with the whole apples and oranges comparison, I'll say anyway.
1. CT has Zeal. Zeal > j00
2. Crono is a silent pimp, he doesn't even have to say anything and girls rush to him. Link is gay. Crono > Link
The above are SIMPLE reasons, but that's all it takes. And don't get me wrong, I loved OoT and MM. I just like CT better, is all. And CC too. :D
-
Ehhh... out of those 2 OoT
But Chrono Cross owns both of them
-
ok now i've got some major thigns to say, first, these are my 2 favorite games Seris Ever... normally i'm a big legend of zelda fan, but between the 2, Chrono trigger hands down, over Any zelda game, however out of the 2 zelda has more games, however the best of the zelda seris to date are oot and windwaker (at least until i get Twilight princess which i've been waiting for for like forever...) anyways, chrono trigger only has one sequeal, Chrono cross, both of them however are top notch and are far better than any other game and or gaming seris.
chrono trigger has it's time crossing powers which are just awesome, and i love the endings, all 14 of them, and yes i have it for the the psx :P and yeah it loads slow but i have everything unlocked too
and before all the data was erased i had every char at double star with 99 of every item just about... (spent alot of my life in front of it :P ) Chrono cross only had 2 worlds to cross to, however like in the first one taking the old guys lunch or whatever for the trial, the second one had more of that as whatever ya do in the second effects Everything, even the characters ya get and can use.
zelda is fun and entertaining, and there are Tons of quests, some fun, some not so fun, and while link can rock hard in some areas he just can't beat chrono trigger, and i don't care what anyone else says this is my oppinion but these are some of the best games ever made :D
