Who is gettin one my bro is pickin one up tonight at 12
-
I want to get one, but they'll all be sold out by the time I get off work tomorrow. :(
-
I'm not interested.
-
Not yet. Not until Brawl comes out, and even then I'll probably wait until my birthday the following month.
-
[STRIKE]I'm getting it at about 8:00 tomorrow morning. So that's about 12 hours from this post.[/STRIKE]
EDIT: Getting it tonight at launch.

I can't see playing SMBB with a remote.

Wow, you're quick.
You play with the gamecube controllers for SMBB, or the Wii controller that is like a gamecube controller.
-
Some of my friends, who are apparently major nintendo fans, told me differently.
Not saying I don't believe you, I'm more saying that I don't care either way.
-
Your friends PHAIL!
They couldn't even pass enough to earn themselves proper spelling!
-
I would like to convince my mom to stand in line (I'm not driving around at night... Or at all for a while), but she's against spending $250 on me at night after a few beers. I suppose cars+beer+$250=not gonna happen.
-
There's the Wii-mote for people who want to use it and the regular controller for those who don't want the Wii-mote. I read that from an official source a while back.
-
The nunchuk....
motion sensitive....
Cool, but the graphics blow.
Im not interested.
I wouldnt pay more than 50 bucks for one.
Screw it, Ill pick one up from a pawnshop in 6 months.

That's not right. Games are made for their fun factor, not how pretty they are. Such an ignorant comment. And no, the graphics don't "blow". Just because they're not on par with an XBox 360 doesn't mean that it "blows".
-
Im still not interested.
Im certain that the nunchuck will be cool in some games.
But Im also certain that I dont like the graphics style of the wii in comparison to other consoles. If Im gonna shell out money for a next gen console, One of the key factors is going to be the graphic limitations of the system. Im in it for the graphics man. Im sure the games will be 'fun' but i get headaches from polygonal cartoon bobbleheads.
Im entitled to my opinion.
And Id rather pay 50 bucks at a pawn shop,
and save the rest for a ps3.
So what if I think the graphics suck. Of course Im going to compare them to PS3 or xBox. The damn thing is coming out in DIRECT COMPETITION with the other systems.
-
I think that the Wii will be an interesting shift for seasoned players (such as myself).

Bitchslapp'd. However, I really dont want a console war. They're just so stupid. Besides, everyone knows that once Sega rises from the grave, all nonbelievers will be swept down in a storm of fury.
Distressed, anyone who dubs themselves a 'seasoned player' is just waiting for a poor, embarrassing pwning.

...What? I fail to see what that has to do with anything. Haven't seen a "polygonal cartoon bobblehead" yet on this, and the models I have seen are anything but polygonal. Even the GameCube was anything but polygonal most of the time. You seem to be very ill-informed.

No, it's really not. The president of Nintendo specifically stated, in response to people's disdain at it's less-than-mind-blowing graphics and irregular controller style, that Nintendo was dropping from the file-and-rank console wars and opting for a different approach to gaming, one that would be friendly to all audiences because of its easy-to-use control style. Since they wouldn't be in the running, they'd be in a whole different market, one with no competition. And with no competition, they win.
That whole post was filled with inaccuracies, biased opinions, and just flat-out ignorance. I do believe that you're entitled to your opinion, but please, state good, valid, and intelligent reasons for your disapproval. And besides, it'll go for about $150-$200 at a pawn shop. Duh.
EDIT: Also, the quote bug reared its ugly face for a minute there. Guess it's not as fixed as we all thought.

Dude, Shut up.
Im allowed to NOT want a system.
And looking at Graphics capabilities dosent make me shallow.
What the hell man?
I didnt know Wii and you were dating archem. Sorry. Turn your mangina off now, please. God, Im not impressed. what more can I say? I dont want to buy that system. I gave my resons, and you told me they were all 'wrong'.
-
A non-bias opinion here, but I need to get a new system, and a new handheld.
Of these, my choices are: PSP, DS, WII, PS3, XBOX360
The order it goes in on what I think would be best: DS,PS3,XBox360,PSP,WII
The WII looks good and all... but, if you havn't noticed, most Nintendo games don't last very long. Hell, Metroid is supposed to be beaten in a few hours. Most Zelda games don't have a replay value (I liked replaying the 2d ones, but not 3d), and ect. If I bought the WII, I'd pretty much be buying it for SSBB. I'm sure a lot of people feel the same, and hence, they really don't care about the WII. One example is probally Plight.
-
Ha! I win. It's easy to tell when you're winning. Although it does hurt to feel like I'm coming off as an ***hole... But I never said "wrong", but I did explain why they were inaccurate. If they're incorrect, I'll tell you. Then you won't make the same mistake again. A form of teaching. Also, learn to keep your temper under control, it makes you look young, ignorant, immature... It's just bad form. I'm younger than you, but I've learned to keep things under control. Through experience. I really don't want to be the bad guy, but I can't stand great inaccuracies. As well as other things.
OCD ruins my ability to be tolerant. Sorry.
-
Heh, you made him resort to a "If I didn't know better, I'd say you wanted to marry the WII" joke.
-
*shakes head*
My god. You're odd.
I feel like i just got mind raped a little.
-
Teenagers can do that to people.
-
AHA! I GOT IT!
Im not into the Wii.
Becuase its marketed towards a demographic much younger than I.
A market of....in the words of the nintendo guy that was just on MY TV...
"Children"
Im 25. Im not buying one.
-
Well... duh.
Nintendo - Everyone, easy/kiddy games for the most part.
Sony - Mostly teen, some M and some E. Wide assortment.
Xbox - Mostly mature, games for older kids.
-
I really don't give a damn if a game is kiddy. To be honest, most of the 'Mature' games tend to hold my attention less than the 'kiddy' ones. I can play Klonoa for hours. I pick up something like Devil May Cry or the likes, and I'll put it down in maybe a half hour. It's just when they make a game 'mature', often times that translates into complex. I like simple games, games that I can play and not have to become absorbed in. I think evidence of this is my nearly murderous wish to play Raving Rabbids.
Except for mindless destruction games, like Mercenaries. I've spent a lot of time playin my friends. Activate invincible, cheat weapons, and Han Solo skin, I blow everyone away XD
-
There're more games on it aimed towards adult audiences. Hell, even Nintendo games are more mature now. Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3... If things continue the way they are, Metroid Prime 3 might just muster an M rating... M for Metroid, ha! That'll be the day! But seriously, most games will end up in the T or M rating area. Two of my most anticipated titles are Red Steel (T) and FarCry Vengance (M), as well as the Nintendo Twilight Princess (T), SSBB (T), and Metroid Prime 3 (T-M, RP as of now). Kiddie still kinda flops. I respect your opinion, but if you must have a reason, make it a better one, 'kay?
**Hint hint! Here's your opportunity to say "I just don't want it" and get out on a technicality!**
-
I don't mind being embarassed ZerKirbyX, it's fun! Anyway, I really want to test the controller of the Wii because it's going to be an entirely different feel compared to the controllers that I'm used to (which are all of the old controllers).
-
"I just dont want it"
(Even though I already said it.)
God archem....you're hyper-ish today.
So am I though. perhaps its a full moon
-
I see, a bad moon rising. I see, trouble, on the way.
-
Perhaps it is... Although, I'm also easily annoyed by small things... Especially when I'm irritated by them being kind of poor reasons. At least we finished it quickly, I hate long-lasting debates.
-
Dude, its Wii.
How long lasting of a debate can it be?
-

Oh wow, teen games.
That totally removes all the kiddy "Here we go!" statements from the mario series.
Far Cry Vengence wasn't originally for the WII, so don't even bring that up.
The only reason that the rating would be going up now is because of the graphics. I doubt that Zelda TP would be T if it were cell shaded.
I also respect your opinion, but your opinion is fan-bias and highly flawed. FACE IT. Nintendo was originally made, and still is, geared toward a younger audience. You can't just use classic games like Metroid and Zelda to support your arguements when the greatest portion of Nintendo games are like Pikmen, Pokemon, and Harvest Moon. Hell, even look at the gameboy. I've never seen an M rated GBA game, and I havn't seen many T either. Naturally, if they tried to hook you on Zelda at age 7, they arn't going to continue making it as kiddy. They will up it to keep those kids that they hooked at 7 will stay hooked all the way through age 21 or what have you. That's common sense. It's a seller's tech that works, and they would be stupid not to use it. So don't use Zelda, Metriod, Mario, whatever to support your "Nintendo is sooo adulty" theroies, because I've got more backing me then you do.
-
Very good point Meiscool.
-
Besides the fact that I'm not really interested in a lot of the wii's games,I also don't like the controller design. I don't wanna play my games with a ****ing TV remote!!! Not to mention the"Swing your controller around like a sword" thing sounds like it would get annoying after a while.

-
Well, originally I thought Archem's "I respect your opinion, but your opinion sucks" post was directed toward me. Now I guess it was directed to Plight.
-
Whatevs.
Meis made a good enough argument.
Ill just copy paste anything he said, if Im called on for debate from this point on. Just wait and see. Out of Context Meis Quotes.
g'head. Try me.

Plight, Hamlet is considered to be one of the best works of Shakespeare. Discuss and debate the meaning of the floating omlette in the back of scene 3.

Shakespear was hungry?

Well, you didnt offer another party to debate with
Or what side to take.
I will then represent both sides of the argument. In a skit, of sorts.
PERSON ONE, IN FAVOUR OF THE OMELETTE:
the
series
wasn't originally
sooo adulty
PERSON TWO, OMELETTES A NO-GO:
what I think would be best
if you havn't noticed
I'm more saying that I don't care either way
I don't believe you
PERSON ONE, IN FAVOUR OF THE OMELETTE:
Teenagers can do that to people
for the most part
PERSON TWO, OMELETTES A NO-GO:
That totally removes all the
reason
PERSON ONE, IN FAVOUR OF THE OMELETTE:
but your opinion is fan-bias and highly flawed
At this point, Id like to state, that the two sides of the debate retort to a non-verbal pushing match.
END.
It would be alot more coherhent if there were more meis posts in this topic. I think id be cheating if i brought em in from others.
But it would be a fun forum game.
Tell a story using meis quotes
-
Dude, make that a forum game.

Meiscool, Resident Evil for DS is M.
Even though your whole argument is gaytarded to begin with, you're wrong about everything, so shut up and kill yourself.
It's midnight, I'm leaving for Wii line in 3 hours and 50 minutes.
Anyone who waits for any reason is a complete toolbox.

Nintendo wasn't a youth-oriented company at the start of its video game career, it actually hosted a large selection of games that had high violence level (for the time), such as Zelda (yeah, it was considered pretty violent for the time), Smash TV, Metal Gear, and a wide variety of fighting/ninja/contra-wannabee games. They (the games) stayed at that level of violence, which became more accepted as family-friendly over time because they didn't add anything to make it gorier, and censorship prevented a lot of things from making it into the USA. An NES game entitled "Princestual Orgy" was available. And remember the whole "DOOM caused the Columbine shooting" thing?
And why can't a game that "wasn't originally for the Wii" be valid in this? That's not very sound.
The new Zelda game is going to be more graphic, so cel-shading wouldn't help much (XIII and Killer 7 were cel shaded, but that didn't help them dodge the M rating).
Nintendo is currently a family-friendly company because it has the largest audience (a smart move, if you ask me), but a few of its bigger series' are taking a step (baby steps, but steps nonetheless) towards appealing to older audiences. But due to the negative response from a series' fanbase, they won't go too off track from the original style of a game just to gain attention from different groups. My opinion isn't fan-based, I want all systems. I just so happen to be in a Nintendo-oriented thread right now. No real gamer debates thigns biasedly, only fanboys do. And despite my fandome of the Zelda series, I like to get a taste of everything. I want it all.
And, finally, there were some M-rated GBA games. Not a lot, mostly due to the lack of original ideas and hardware limitations to showing violence without gameplay slowdown, but you can't overlook the fact that they existed (once you know about them, at least).
And don't say "you can't use selective examples to prove your theory", because that's the basis of all debates, selective facts.
Look, it's 2 in the morning, and I'm still using correct facts. Can we drop this already? You don't need to throw gas on a smoldering fire every chance you get, Meiscool.

While we're talking about how unadult the Wii is and how crappy the graphics are, lets take a look at one of the lesserknown Wii'sclusive games, known as Sadness. (http://au.wii.ign.com/articles/721/721396p1.html)

Lets talk about RAVING RABBIDS instead. Cause, personally I love the Rayman series, but it looks kind of shite. Discuss.

Now I have 2 wait untill later today 2 test out my bros wii

You don't think I know that?

Now you see why I wait to get the new systems. It's like the 360. It had factory defects and then they stopped shipping them out until they worked out all the problems. Now it works. I like to wait for a few months before I get system. I waited a year for the PS2 and Gamecube.

I'm going to ignore you for a while.

Is that a "oops, I did it wrong, and I got knocked down a peg" or a "you retard! Don't you think I know how to put in a disc?!" kind of response?
-
Archem, the later.
-
By which he means the former. :p
-
How unwitty of you, DF.
Although I can easily say thst you're taking things a little too far, Apex, I quickly realize that I'd act the same way in your situation.
Oh, by the way, I have Call of Duty 3 (a little unruly at first, but you get used to the controls), Red Steel (tighter control than CoD 3, but it seems a little sensitive to the sensors blind spot at times, and the range of view is a little to acute), and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (no complaints). And a 2GB memory stick.
-
I'm getting a Wii on the 29th. It's a little while to wait, but it's definitely better than not getting one at all. :D
Btw, Archem - is Red Steel any good?
-
Red Steel's controlls suck and bad voice acting, graphics are alright
my bro had 2 return it
But Wii Sports is fun even know my bro sucks at it just like in real sports
Zelda is fun, a must buy!!
-
Real men only get wii sports at launch! :P
-
Wow, you nerds sure know how to blow money fast.
-
I found out how many copies all the stores had, then drove past them all at like 4 AM. All the lines were longer than number of Wiis, so I left. Then I came back later and bought Twilight Princess, so I could look at the disc.. it's shiny....

It's alright. Don't expect anything epic, as the levels are pretty linear, the enemies are essentially all the same thing. It doesn't matter what gun you use, they're all equally effective, accurate, and infinitely available (if someone drops a gun, that gun will constantly have ammo, so you don't need to worry about running out). The voice acting isn't spectacular, but it's passable. The controls take a little getting used to (CoD 3's stricter learning curve helped me out), but they're pretty comfortable after a while. All in all, it's fun in an arcadey style shooter, but it's far from Ubisoft's best work. Although the sword fights are pretty fun... I'd say it's about a 7.25 out of 10 on the awesome scale. Wait for FarCry Vengance (Ubisoft's got a good thing going for them control-wise, so that should carry over), it's got a good story, great level design, plenty of guns, various enemies, etc. Unless you already own FarCry Instincts: Predators/FarCry Instincts: Evolution, because those are the same thing.
-
Has anyone tried using the controller sideways like you're supposed to for old Nintendo games and such? Is it awkward?
-
Dam was playing wii sports foe like 4-5 hours with bro and am actually hella sweaty
I think i found a new workout
-
Okay, so I don't think it's for me. Then I guess I'll get LoZ:TP and Monkey Ball at launch, then MP:C, Mario Galaxy and SSBB when they come out, and my Wii experience will be complete. :D
-
I got me a Wii my friend got a Wii and we were making up dumb jokes while we were waiting in line saying stuff like.
"Hey you got a Wii, I got a wii, together that makes...a Wii Wii"
then some chick was said.
"and how old are you guys again?"
Yeah Karma bit her in the ***, we got the last 2 Wii.
The line was insane but we were there first so it wasn't that bad.
My other friend went to Wal Mart and told me they gave out pick up tickets or
something like that cuz the line was so insane.

They wern't doing that becasue the lines were bad, because they did It at ours, in nowhere Kansas wal-mart. I got 15 out of 20, but than was bumped to 12 out of 20, although now I wish I had got number 15 instead, because it might have worked unlike the one I got.

Dear Warxe: What you plan to get, minus Monkey Ball, + Mario Kart, that's about it for me.
Oh, and Twilight Princess for the Cube, instead.

Why for cube instead? They cost the same amount.. Wii versions is "Enhanced" anyways... At least to the point of a fishing mini-game.

ooo wicked burn, wicked burn...

My roommate has it. I fuckin suck with the nunchaku controller. I tried tony hawk and DBZ. Tony hawk I did pretty decent in, just barely making the time limit in the end of a slalom stage. We have a regular controller, but I wanna use the nunchaku.
DBZ is... not hard, I just couldn't do it so I gave up. I might play later.
I wanna play Red Steel next. He has but I have to work lots. I looks cool. With the use of swords for blocking and striking.
Also: Twilight Princess looks cool as ****, after the beginning bullshit you have to do. I still don't want to play it though, I can use swords in red steel.

A) I have a gamecube now. I don't have a Wii now.
B) IT NEEDS MORE LOVE It hasn't experienced much since I finished Metroid Prime 2 a thousand years ago.
C) I want my classic Zelda controls.
D) It is, and has been for five, six years of development at heart a gamecube game.
E) Also, the gamecube one is the original. They mirrored the whole game to make it work for the Wii. I am not lying.
-
Erm, you know that the wii makes the gamecube utterly pointless right?
-
Thank you, Razor, but I'm pretty sure we already knew that. The only thing that irks me about the Wii version is that Link's a rightey now. But it's cool, it controls like a dream. /addiction
-
Yes, yes, but I DON'T have a Wii or $400 yet. So I'm still using my Cube.

No biggie, man! I would get it for GameCube too. I was lucky enough to get a Wii, though, so I'm playing my new love.

I don't really want to make a new thread, so I'll just ask here:
What's the Virtual Console deally like? What games can you guys buy/download now (I'm aware the games are region locked but interested anyway)? What HAVE you downloaded now?
And how does the whole thing work?

The menu where you download the games isn't half badly set up, the music reminds of me of ol' Nooks store.
Haven't actually downloaded anything... For obvious reasons.

You need to buy Wii points to get VC games. A Wii point is worth one cent here in America. But an NES game costs 500 points, an SNES game costs 800 points, and an N64 game costs 1000 points. Unfortunately the only games worth getting right now are Sonic, F-Zero, and the first Legend of Zelda.
-
What are Genesis games priced at? About the same as SNES?
-
Yeah. Everything from the 'SNES era' is 800 points.
-
I'll be spending pocketloads on that little feature, I can tell you now!
-
And they sell cards at stores at about 2000 points each! No credit card required! But I'm too addicted to Call of Duty 3 and Twilight Princess right now, so I won't be bothered with that for a while... There aren't a boatload of games on it yet, but it's supposed to expand really big really soon.
-
its a little cheaper to use the credit card, though. spot your folks the amount for the points, if you aren't old enough to have one, but then again. there's interest in credit cards. oh well. My roommie's playing mario 64 right now.

Mario 64 made the 3-d platformer how it is today. And it is an awesome game too. Too bad I traded my N64 in with it.
To stay on topic; I think that this download thing isn't that bad at all. I hope to try it out when I get a wii.
1pt=$0.01
500pts=$5.00
800pts=$8.00
1000pts=$10.00
Better than blockbuster I'd say, but can you keep the games?

Great googly moogly! He can do math!
-
I can still play Super Mario on my N64.
-
k, I'm playing TP. The only game I've bought from that service was Altered Beast.
I pretty much own every other game on the service, so..
I made a Steve Irwin Mii, I'm funney.
-
I made a Bob Marley Wii, a Jesus Wii, a SantaClause Wii and a few other nifty ones.. Yeah... I sent mine in for the replacement though, so those are wiped, which is fine, it takes like a minute to redo each one, and I'd be more than happy to redo a few of them... Hehehe, Wiisus.
Anyways, I got the box to ship it in on friday, took the box to the ups store on saturday, they told me it would take till monday to begin shipping...
So, about... 2 ******* weeks...
GWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!
-
Hehe... Wiisus... I'm not going to be too original yet, so I've stuck with a self-Mii.
As for that one guy's question:

Yes. They're also planning a rental service where you pay a set amount of point every month, and you can play any game from the list as much as you want until you stop paying them the points.
-
Cool I might as well get one now, but they are sold out everywhere. I have to wait till Easter to get one. Oh what a shame!
-
Nintendo got my Wii today, now to wait for them to send me a whole new one!
...

...
GWAAAH!
-
ROFL, my local store is already putting them on sale. They overstocked. Still not gonna get one.
Bear in mind I live in a small town, though.

... Not? I'm afraid I don't understand... How can one "not"? Especially when combined with "get" and "Wii"?
-
Well, I actually have to buy pretty much everything I want with my own money. And, with school being up, I don't have much time to try and get a job... so yeah, I can see my money being spent on better things.
-
error: nothing better than Wii
