Title: RPG2K3 Color depth Issues
Post by: E101beta on November 21, 2006, 04:48:49 AM
Hey there, I'm new to this forum, but not new to RPG maker, I've made a couple small scale games, but now I'm importing my own resources and theres one age-old issue that comes up, say Import a facechipset,  it says invalid color depth, and pasting that sheet into an existing RPG maker one makes it spotchy and unpleasent.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or a way to do it differently? Or do I need to tough it out?

Well there was this way, exept for using some weerd program that is.

It was soomething like saving it like a 256bit bmp file and then it was either to copy that piv into the png file and save it or saving the 256bmp as a png... Most probably the first one thou.

Custom colour templates, my friend.

You have to open the face set, and import a new colour pallete.

The pallette of the image you plan on using.

And it will look fly.

Ok, Thanks, and I'd need a Paint Shop for that right?

Photoshop and Ultimate Paint are your friends.

Heh, I use PhotoShop for all my color conversions. If you've got it, that will work well.

Unfortunately No. Perhaps I could track down a copy somehow, As I learned how dto do the Palletting in that...

I Downloaded that Ultimate paint program, but I can't figure out how to go about doing what was said... Can it be written out step by step and what to click... i need to familiarize myself with this program..

personally, I use paintshop pro.

And im not gonna lie here, I use an illegal copy. But you shouldnt.
XD
And idraw is your friend too. Its weak, but its good at the same time.
Sometimes programs over-complicate these things. idraw is nice and simple.

it all depends on what program you use to make it

If you used Charas for the Faceset
 - CLick save as .PNG

If you use anything else
- Make sure color depth is 256
----In Paint Shop Pro, look for color depth
----In Photoshop, use Mode>Index Colors
----Not sure about Paint

If you have color problems(area is supposed to be transparent)
- Open up the palette
- Make sure the are that's transparent is EXACTLY the first color in the palette (not just the same color, but from the SAME box) slight differences will mess it up
