Title: .rar files how do you use them?

uh i don't know where to put this topic but can someone tell me what is .rar and is there a way to use it safely on my comp? :x

oh winzip is not free but izark is and better too works just like winzip.

can some one keep this topic? It can be a great help to others.

I believe that most people actually know what WinRAR is...

My Rpgm2k3 was a rar file so meh...

it is like winzip, however i use winrar which should also be free. i think there should be a good one at download.com (not necciarily a link but if it'll get me in trouble i'll remove it)

Yeah WinRaR is good. It can download many file types Winzip can't.

I perfer 7Z, since most other programs don't open 7z files. Free in everyway, doesn't even bother you to register anything, however, it's UI lacks a little, but everything is fully function. Opens just about every format there is, including Zip, RAR and TAR. :Plight:

Yeah but what if other noobs try to play those demos and find out that it is a zipped file they can't unzip? This topic is sutible for them so they don't spam up other topics asking where they can go to to find a unzipper... wait this just defeats the purpose... there can't be links to freeware or can there? I have averege knowledge of computers. I just wasn't familiar with this file type. Now I know and I became much wiser.
