You might've heard of the big ice storm in the midwest. The storm, and the trees falling cut power for thousands of people. A couple thousand are still without it.
I've just got out of 4 days without power. My parents say I've been in longer ones when I lived in Guam. I remember one after a hurricane that was 9 days. That was a while back so I don't remember much.
What was the longest you've gone without power in your house?
+ post here when you came out of the one I'm talking about.
-
I wasn't in new york durin the time of the blackout.. but my mom was. How long did that last? A few days?
-
Ice storm, like 2 weeks. It sucked ass.
-
I remember something about the power grids up here going down.
I think it was a few weeks without power. o.O
-
17 days after the first big Hurricane that hit Florida a few years ago.
-
3 hours when a energy unit fell from the post(?) cause a guy hit it with his car...
No disasters around here, just corruption, poverty and hot chicks.
-
A day and a half after a rainstorm (not thunderstorm or hurricane.. RAINSTORM) came through the area.
-
Mine went out for 4 days once.
That was when I posted a bit about my basement flooding. We had to remove everything in pitch black with only a few flashlights to aid us.
-
No more than a day that I can recall. One of the very few decent things about Michigan is that we're so used to awful weather that services are quick to solve problems like power outages.
-
In the good ol' power outage of '03. The one that covered all of Ontario + a bit of NE America IIRC.
I was at a friends house for the week anyways, so it was fantastic fun.
I don't remember how long the outage was though.
-
I don't remember any particularly long ones...
I remember one that lasted several hours, but it was a long time ago. Can't remember the cause.

Same here. Texas + Ice= mass chaos.
-
Our school had an outage for half an hour. Same storm you have except we didnt get as much damage. West side of our city was the most devastated.
-
Tornado, 2 weeks or a week and a half.
-
One night, but I was sleeping so meh.
-
I went camping a week without power, does that count?
Otherwise, I think the most my power has been out has been a day or a half a day.

Yep, same thing with me.
-
Yes, I'm in the middle of a power outage right now.
-
A few months ago. It was for a few hours, on and off. We lit candles everywhere, then when the power came back on we put them out. Then the power was cut again minutes later>.>
-
LOL!
How the heck are you online Draggie?
-
My computer is powered by the souls of children lost in the swamp.
With any money I earn, I pay for conserving local swampland. And reducing the amount of contraception available.
This ensures that my computer always has power when I need it.
-
That is so freakin awsome!! I want souls.. <<;;>>;;

Last christmas: bird flew into transformer behind home, knocked out the whole block for 2 hours.

Sad part is he's right, Michigan's power outs aren't long, and I was lucky enough to be in the part of michigan that didn't get hit a couple years ago in the big one.

I knew you didn't have a soul.

It was a secret? o.O

Probably 6 hours or so, during one of the hotter Australian summers.
Incredibly hot + thousands of people using their aircons = power dead :x

Hahaha, that was awesome. Everyone was like "zomg power outage, it must be terrorists!" and everyone was scared for hours on end. then it turned out to be some accident or something.
-
LOL! It was because we new yorkers were using too much power during the summer since it was so freakin hot.
-
That woud've been awesome to be in New York during that power outage. Unless you were stuck in a subway, otherwise, just awesome. Of course, it'd suck if you lived there when it happened, but to jsut be there...
-
and walk in the streets with millions of other people in the burning heat? Nigga are you nuts!? You prolly would've died from overheating and food poisonin. Sheesh. :p
