Title: Plug in the computer...

Well, I got my guitar, a simple one just to begin with, so that I can see if this' my thing or not...

Anyway, I´d like to know how do I plug the guitar in the computer...is there a way? (through the amp, maybe?)

The only way I can think of without an amp slot would be to get an amp-to-headphone converter and then plug it into your mic slot. And even then I'm not sure if it would work or not.

Yeah, I guess you´re right...and even then, I wouldn´t get the distorion to work, I´d need the amp...I got the amp here, but even so the set up doesn´t seem clear to me...

It works, I do it all the time. To get the amp in, you just have to get another patch cord and hook it up to the headphone jack in you amp and then stick the other patch cord end into the converter Osmose was talkin about and put that in your mic jack.

Get an adapter for your patch cord. You can then get software like Guitar FX3 or Renoise, which are really cool programs that have all the guitar effects

Guitar FX is really good, but it constantly crashes my computer. It works better on older computers for some reason.

And where on Renoise can you plug in your guitar?

You can download a VST instrument that supports it, and they can be integrated into Renoise.

Ow ow wait...Let's review the whole way again...It´d be amp's headphone jack - mic jack with converter? Is that right?

And that converter...would that be those simple plastic adapters of size (just to fit in) or are them some machinery that are super expensive, made of platinium and Tiberium glass?

Yeah, you need a converter from a guitar cable jack to mic jack. Of course for distortion I have to run it through a pedal...

First, don't just go plugging the amp into the computer, or you will end up with either your computer or amp blowing up. :D

There are a number of converters you can try, but I'd recommend getting a Stealth Plug or similar, if you can get one. It plugs into your guitar, converts the signal and then just goes into a computer's USB port. And it has on-board effects so you don't need to run through any other equipment (The built-in distortion is a bit weak though, so if you want something heavier you'll need a pedal).

Guitar -> patch cable -> adapter -> sound card. You don't need an amp or pedals for this.
The adapter is like 2 inches long and costs $4. You can buy them at music shops. The patch cable goes from the computer to the female side of this:
computer, too. You could just download VST instruments until you buy your pedals, though.

Yeah, the adapter is only a couple bucks.

Don't plug your amp into your computer is what he's saying.. it's fine if you don't, I have my guitar plugged in right now.
