Title: Yin Yang
Post by: SilverBlade on January 02, 2007, 10:12:23 AM
Hi all, I present to you my game...:

                                       -Yin Yang-
                                 -Thread of Memories-

==========
Story
==========

A man wakes up in a forest, next to a calm river. He keeps on mumbling 'Zamerden...Zamerden...' . Suddenly, he woke up, took a look around and figured out that he had no idea where he was or how he got there.
He only rememberd his name(You can choose his name).

After getting out of the forest, he asks around in a village what Zamerden is. It looks like it's a place far away. The hero is determinate to go to Zamerden, perhaps he might restore his memories in that way...

In his journey, he experience a lot of strange events. Sometimes, he gets deją-vus about certain places or people(that's how he start remembering things). He also hears the complaining of villagers about the king, King Silaan. The hero remembers that he had a twin brother named Silaan...He could be his brother... King Silaan looks just the same as the hero...except that Silaan has white hair and the hero black hair...

Is this pure coincidence or is this the work of the Yin and Yang spirits?

Will this feature the Ying-Yang twins? XD

If not, I'd change the title to Yin-Yang. This does look good like Shadowless1 said. I like that battle screen for some reason. My only real problem, some of the tiles like those wooden bridges look a little wierd. Keep it up.

First, thank you all for the good comments :).

Secondly, they are indeed twins, I didn't realy made it clear in my intro story: I just said they were brothers. But it isn't a secret or anything, so it's not like I'm giving all the big secrets away ;).
Early in the game he remembers that he had a twin brother :).

Third, yes, I also think the wooden bridges are a little bit stupid...I'll work on it.

That isn't what I mean...

The Ying Yang twins are rappers who spelled their name wrong on purpose. The real term for the symbol is called "Yin and Yang."
There is no G in the first word. It was just funny.

Still looks good though.

Oh lol, my bad. I don't know them ^^.
Anyway, I know that grammatical only Yin-Yang is correct but I think that Ying-Yang...sounds better. I don't know really how to explain. I just think it's nicer.

I fixed the stairs anyway. They look better now, don't they?

Much better.

There, everybody said it should be Yin Yang, so there! I made it yin yang(look at the new title screen).

Haven't read the story yet, but the screens are nice.  I'll read it when I have time.  ^^'

Looks good! :)

Did you make that bchar? It looks nice and it's not the spritesized template. If you didn't, it's cool anyway. :p
Title:
Post by: drenrin2120 on January 03, 2007, 04:36:46 AM
If done right, the story could come out really good. The maps are a good quality too. Keep up the work.

Thank you all again for the good comments, it's a good motivation :).
To answer your questions: Yes, I made the battlechar but I did it as a big edit of another battlechar I found. It realy took some time.

The system2 is made by me :D. But if you don't like it, you still can switch it with another one in the game(which I didn't make).

About the demo...I don't know when I'll release one yet. I have written the story already, but I don't know where the first demo ends.
Anyway, I'm working hard on it and I hope to make a demo as soon as possible.
Title: It's going good!
Post by: SilverBlade on January 03, 2007, 04:07:13 PM
I'm working really hard and the gamemaking is going good. I'm now making the 'Mapmaker' who gives him a map of (a piece of) the world. In the game, you can open the map whenever you want.
The map is pretty simple and not complete, I didn't want to give away to much!
Tell me wat you think.
Title:
Post by: Shadowless1 on January 03, 2007, 05:40:44 PM
it would look a bit nicer if the black lines blended in with the scroll colour to make it look older
Title:
Post by: SilverBlade on January 03, 2007, 06:19:41 PM
Is this better? I kind of like the previous one more, but if you say this one's better, I'll take this one.

And I tried to make brown inkt instead of black inkt but that really looked bad! So don't tell me to do that!
Title:
Post by: Shadowless1 on January 03, 2007, 06:40:48 PM
yes, looks very nice now

Title: Demo Release
Post by: SilverBlade on January 04, 2007, 04:54:00 PM
My game's now about half an hour and I will release the demo when it's 1 to 2 hours.
So a demo will be released soon, I think.

I will need some betaplayers though, anyone wants to be one?

I read the story and its basic.  Basic but can be made into something pretty good.  I like where this is going.  You've got some great screens and what seems to be interesting battles.  I think this is a game to look out for.  I await the demo release.  :)

I think if you too that bottom, made it less blurry and turned the white to red it'd be great.

In my 100th post, I got something special to show, my new character in the game, Gorak the Thief!:

The blur tool, eh?

Anyway, I think I'm going to take my version. I kind of like yours to, but If I try it out on RPG Maker it looks a little big messy.
So thanks for helping me anyway, I apreciate it
Title: let me know you made you game

Title: Rage!
Post by: SilverBlade on January 05, 2007, 03:44:50 PM
I just wanted to let you know that there's a special option in battle when your HP is low: Rage( it's a bit like the FF's Limit Break or Overdrive).

You will be able to do the best attack that you have!
Title:
Post by: Linkforce on January 06, 2007, 05:06:29 AM
Nice rage thing man.  This is an overall solid game.  I'll definetly give the demo a try.  It makes me glad that there's one more RMer who knows what he's doing.  :)

Post by: Meiscool-2 on January 06, 2007, 05:47:30 AM
Meh, I was bored, so I made a title. The text is hard to read, but in game its 400% sized, so it's easy to read in the game.

Use it if you want. I don't care.
Title:
Post by: SilverBlade on January 06, 2007, 08:53:38 AM
Wow! That's one awesome screen!

But the game's name is 'Thread of Memories' instead of 'Threads of Memories'. And if possible, could you make the background a little bit darker with black or red?

I'm not sure if I'll use it though, it doesn't really match the style of the game. Still, I appreciate it ;).
Title:
Post by: ZeroKirbyX on January 06, 2007, 09:02:26 AM
I can't read the text. At all.
Title:
Post by: Meiscool-2 on January 06, 2007, 10:17:41 PM
I didn't save the photoshop file, so I can't change the text. I could change the color, if I wern't so lazy.
Title: Going slower
Post by: SilverBlade on January 08, 2007, 03:44:31 PM
Now that christmas break is over, I can't work much anymore. An hour a day perhaps >.<...

So I will release a shortened version of my demo after it's ready and betatested. I will post it as soon as possible.

Title: Demo Release!
Post by: SilverBlade on January 17, 2007, 01:19:58 PM
-----------------Here's the one and only Demo 1.1 version of Yin-Yang, Thread of Memories-------------------

The demo takes between 1 hour or 1 hour and a half. It depends on how good you explore everything.
The game isn't realy hard yet, it doesn't  have much puzzles or anything but I'm CERTAINLY going to do that in the next area.

If you have any problems or errors, please PM me or just post it in this thread(with a screenshot, if needed). I hope you enjoy it and comments would be nice  .

Anyway, did anyone else play the demo?

Once I get RPGMaker on the new computer I'll test it for ya.
Title:
Post by: coasterkrazy on January 22, 2007, 10:37:06 PM
I played a little bit, but didn't get too far. The only thing that really bugged me was the fact that the dialogue was really slow. Other than that, the movement was a little bit slow, but that didn't bother me as much. Aside from those little annoyances, this seems to be coming along well. :) I'll play further if I get a chance.
Title:
Post by: SilverBlade on January 23, 2007, 03:33:59 PM
1. That's why you can edit the textspeed :)
2. I find the normal movement speed way to fast, so I just slowed it down a little bit. You'll get used to it soon.

Let me know if you played the rest of the demo ;).
Title:
Post by: coasterkrazy on January 23, 2007, 11:51:43 PM
Oh, heh. Well I must have missed something then. Sorry I'm still too busy to continue but I'll let you know if I do.
