Did you buy a Key Code or something?

My photoshop required a code to work. Yours might too.

At least it's truthful.

I got as far as having to convert something to a layer to be able to actually draw on it before realizing it's ridiculousness.

Fireworks is the place to be, baby.

Convert to a layer? Alls yous gotta do is click the new layer button. ZOMG DIFFICULT.

Post by: Osmose on January 07, 2007, 07:36:20 AM
One click more than I needed, not to mention that there is no reason why you'd even NEED a separate type of layer called Backgrounds.

The buyout of Macromedia makes me sad, but considering I'm not going to be an image editor in life, it doesn't bother me TOO much.

I suppose it's all in the preference. I used FW a few times, I just prefer PS. =

Fie on thee. Someday you will see that I was right all along. SOMEDAY!

Regardless, a redownload should fix the original thread problem. Woo. Got sidetracked for a second there.

If you're counting the amount of button clicks it takes to makes something in photoshop, maybe now's the time to reevaluate your life, hmm?

I've tried downloading it multiple times. Doesn't hurt downloading again.

I love layers! Without layers, most of my stuff would fall apart! They are integral, and they have a purpose! I guess you're just not using them correctly.

LAYERS!

My confusion isn't with layers - they're quite nifty (in Fireworks. :P). I'm just confused as to what makes a "Background" different from a "Layer" besides that you can't edit a "Background".

Uhm... you can edit the background...

Post by: ZeroKirbyX on January 07, 2007, 07:46:49 PM
Background is just the layer you start out with. You just have to double-click it then do a Ctrl+A+Delete, which takes me all of 3 seconds. Don't give me any **** about clicks, like Razor said, counting clicks is a wee bit sad.

I don't count clicks, even if I had known about the click thing from day one (It took me all of two minutes to figure out why it was doing it anyway) I'd still stay with Fireworks because I'm much more used to it. My question right now is why it even exists and is locked - this doesn't contribute to my hatred of Photoshop - which mainly stems from the people who use it who seriously think Fireworks is a bad program rather than just an alternative that some may like more - it's just something I'd like to know if anyone has an answer.

I don't thnk FW is a bad program, I'm sure if I messed with it I'd like it, but it's just that fan-boy in me escaping. I don't hate Sony or Microsoft, but start talkin **** about Nintendo and I will say different.

I myself don't quite get why the layer is locked, but it's incredibly easy to remedy and work around so I never cared about it.

Background is like a layer that can't have transparent parts or something, I always just get rid of it though.
But uh, Photoshop 7 > Fireworks > Photoshop CS.

I always counted it as Photoshop 7/CS/CS2. They're all the same bloody program, one just costs more.

Uh, I use PS7 and I still prefer it over Fireworks.

I think this whole thread has melted down to Moose using something different and everyone else wanting him to use photoshop against his will.
