Title: Charas' own Wiki
Post by: WarxePB on January 15, 2007, 10:26:28 PM: Thanks to our dear old admin SaiKar, I found an awesome site: EditThis.info (http://editthis.info). Essentially, it lets you make your own free wiki, and add, edit, etc. to it as you like.

So, is anyone up for doing something like this? Since Wikipedia proper doesn't want us, I figure we could make our own specific wiki. Content would be everything Charas-related: history of the site, info about the generators, forum history, noted members, etc. But since wikis are collaborative projects, we'll need to work together to do it.

A Charas Wiki would be cool, and this way there's less chance of another ordeal like the previous try. I'm not sure how much I could contribute, but I could try. Plus I could spelling/grammar/syntax the entries to death if you want.

Instead, accounts are made by Warxe or whoever is running the wiki by request on the forum. That way, we can't get boned over by trolls like Lucifer and friends.

But there's always the problem of Warxe or whoever not seeing it for a while due to being away for a week or something.

EDIT: By the way, I haven't figured out a way to pre-register users, but if trolling gets too bad, we can easily prevent new users from registering. Also, I'll be giving admin status to a few members, so that in case something like that does happen, we don't have to wait for one guy who happens to be away for a week to restore everything.

Indeed, I was also hoping to add a section on the Avatar Wars game (the RPG Maker version), seeing as how I'm trying to make it a community project.

Any ideas for the other mods of the wiki?

Problem is, even though I was an admin, I was gone for, like, a year. So I missed a lot of stuff. Any help would be appreciated. Heck, even if it's some minor stuff, feel free to add it.

If you click it, it redirects to Warxe. I guess the creator of the wiki can't use a name outside of Admin.

Of course, because it's a wiki anyone can go and fix your spelling, as I did a little bit at the top while adding an expansion notice.

Joking aside, sometime soon when I have the time, I'm going to propose a few projects for the wiki to help make it more useful. Obviously, I won't be able to do it all on my own, but hopefully the combined knowledge of Charas could help.

I'm talking things like Tutorials, A Guide to RPG Maker, Links to important resources (Charaset template, anyone?), explanations of how a chipset works, etc. Anything to help someone get used to working with RPG Maker and work on it. Anyone with knowledge about Ruby, for example, could start an article on Ruby, add in maybe a function list, etc.

It's kind of hard finding a balance between website, forum, and wiki, but hopefully all will be equally useful.

I am still supporting other additions though. The RPG Maker article needs to be fleshed out REALLY BAD, and we could certainly use a few reference pages for things like a list of those little symbols for text, charaset and battleset templates, a reference for the dimensions needed for RPG Maker resources, etc.
