Title: Its C-c-cold!
Post by: DragonBlaze on February 05, 2007, 03:55:19 PM
Holy crap is freezing here in wisconsin. -45 degrees F or something like that. We got school closed though, so that was cool. I think it might be a little warmer than that out now, but not too mch.

I know Ace got school canceled too cuz of the cold.

I could really go for some global warming right about now.

Anyone else really cold?

Britain. In Winter. Going outdoors means you risk hypothermia. Period.

I hear ya.  Here in old Michigan it was -1 by about 10:00 today,  I don't even want to know how cold it was before the sun came out. My sister's school got closed, but I still had to go to work...

Freaking froze the fuel lines in my car, had to push it up the driveway into the garage to let it warm up.

Not uber cold, but it's usually 10F every day lately.

Yeah, it's -45 C up here in good old Canada. Which means no school. :D Yeah, even Canadians have a threshold of tolerance for the cold.

Actually, -45C and -45 F are pretty close to the same temperature.

Question: If it's 0°C today, and it's going to be twice as cold tomorrow, what will the temperature be?
Title:
Post by: Glitch on February 05, 2007, 04:41:31 PM
-00°C, duh

Yeah, I'm up in Canada too. We had a snow storm on Saturday, so its still pretty cold here.

Ain't too peachy over in the UK. Felt like crap outside this morning, but there isn't any frost or anything so it can't be that bad.
Remember kids: Global warming will disrupt the flow of warm water through the English channel, causing England to become a frozen, uninhabitable wasteland! Like Russia!

I live in MI, too.  We got school cancelled today, which was official yesterday.  Apparently, the school buses and snow plows start running at 6 AM, which is a brilliant system.... T.T

My house is freezing, about 10 degrees below room temp., although it feels like it's only 50F.  I'm acutally wearing two jackets right now just keep from shivering uncontrollably.
Title:
Post by: DragonBlaze on February 05, 2007, 05:16:18 PM
Well its pretty warm in my house, a little chilly in my room, but I covered my windows (and other areas) with blankets to keep it insulated better, so it isn't too bad. Downstairs is nice cuz we have the fire going.

But yeah, my car hasn't started in a few days. And yestuday, one of my cats froze to death :(. We found it laying by itself on the concrete. Usually our cats cuddle up by eachother in the barn, but this one was stupid. We brought him back in the house and thawed him out a bit. His ears, tail, and legs were frozen solid. We got him to move around, drink some warm water, but after 5 hours, he started to have siezures, and then he died :(

Yeah its like -25 where Im at in OH, and school got cancelled. I actually think it feels good outside... at least when the wind's not blowing...

Yeah I also live in Michigan... but...
for some reason my f*cking crazy school
superintendant didn't cancel school today,
and I heard he's from Florida, so apparently
he has never felt the extreme temperatures
we're witnessing here in Michigan today... yet every
other frickin' district around us gets the day
off....
I just decided to stay home and even my parents
let me stay home for today lol. Thx goodness. _sweat_

To Dragonblaze: Wow, -45 degrees in Wisconsin???
I'm surprised your computer didn't like... freeze up or
somethin lol.
Title:
Post by: DragonBlaze on February 05, 2007, 06:06:42 PM
Lol, my computer knows better than to freeze up.

And it was -20 out. With the wind chill it was -35 to -45. That was at 7 this morning. Its supposed to be around - 10 without the wind chill now or something like that, around 3, its supposed to get 1 degree without the wind chill :D

Our school won't get called off unless its below - 30 F, Last year, it got -35 with the wind chill one day and they still didn't call school. And this year they're being more strict because of all the bomb threats we've been having this year.  But yeah, they called school today, so it must have been really cold.
Title:
Post by: Djanki on February 05, 2007, 06:27:16 PM
Um....we're around 90 degrees Farenheit here in Puerto Rico...

...........Around 7, when we leave for school, it's usually around 69 degrees. I'm guessing 52 degrees is the lowest it gets at night.
Title:
Post by: Meiscool-2 on February 05, 2007, 07:05:07 PM
I got school out too. The temp here is around 10 or so, but the wind chill is -19F.

For the last 5 days or so there has not been one cloud in South Australia's skies. It's been at least 34C every day.

But today, it will be 27. And with clouds! Oh how I have missed them!
Title:
Post by: Drace on February 05, 2007, 07:59:43 PM
It's been varying from -3 C° to 16 C° over the last few weeks. I don't mind at any temp it's been.

I don't have school tomorrow either! WAHOO!!!

Yeah, it's pretty friggin cold. Like -18 wind chill or something, tonight is supposed to be -25, and tomorrow it won't get up to at least -10 until afternoon. So school's cancelled for meh again, wahay! :Plight:

I live in southern California, it never snows or get incredibly cold. At the worst, there can be a bunch of frost on the roofs of houses and it can be a bit chilly, but nothing horrible. It has been warming up lately.

I can't remember the last itme school got cancelled because of the cold... In fact, I don't think it ever has. Wow. That sucks.

I have to walk a lot between classes (my subjects are spread across two different schools, go figure) and that means deathly coldness.

Moderately cold in southern Ontario, -28ºC with windchill.  Had to go to school.

On a slightly similar topic, what is up with Fahrenheit?  I can understand most of the "old" measurement origins, like an inch is the length of knuckle to knuckle, etc., but what does Fahrenheit stick with?

Water Freezing - 32º (0ºC)
Water Boiling - 212º (100º)
Body Temperature - 98.6º (37ºC)
Room Temperature - 68ºF-77ºF (20ºF-25ºF)

Like, did someone just go outside one day and say "Jeez, today feels like 70 degrees!"

Yeah, its freezing here too in Cincinnati, but of course I don't get off school.  Its warm inside school, but getting from my house to my cold car, then from my newly warmed car to my school is just freezing.  I think it was around -5 F today.

I had a choice today.

1) Go to my friends house but in the process of walking there, freeze my nuts off.
2) Keep my nuts, and play a game or 2.

I decided to stay a man.

It's pretty cold here in the Philadelphia area too. Not sure exactly what the temperatures are, but definitely often freezing or below, especially when you factor in the wind chill.

Sadly though, there hasn't been one day of school off for snow yet. :( Snowstorms just don't wanna come this year.

I hate Delaware its only like 32F and everytime they call for snow we either get a tiny bit or a lot of rain, it pisses me off.

Yeah, it was, like, 33F this morning. Cold. I've got a fan on right now, so that gives you an idea of just how long the "cold" lasts in Texas. My part, that is. This is pretty much the coldest year in my lifetime. It's usually summer weather right now. And winter on the sun weather in the summer.

Being cold and having snow if fun and all, but having it be - 17 and -45 with the wind chill is another. Like I said before, my car doesnt start, when I touched the hood to open it up, my hand instandly went numb. We didn't get the paper yesturday because our mail persons car wouldn't start. My cat froze to death :( When its cold and we have to go to school, we're freezing all day because we're not allowed to wear jackets or anything, in our science class, we can see our breath sometimes cuz its so cold. So yeah, having it cold is great, having it freezing is not :(

Today, it's 12 F up here. Though I think the Windchill is definitely killer. Today, school DID get cancelled, and this is like, the first time it's gotten cancelled since... Since... I dunno, 4 years ago? Yeah. Brighton is a stubborn district.

Those are the types of temperature I LOVE - remember that I used to live in Massachusetts and have experienced that cold. Disregarding the cat and your school, all those other things are just side effects of the awesome. As for your cat, well, we didn't let our cat out and had sufficient heating in our house so wherever they were was warm enough, and our school was never stupid enough to disallow us from wearing coats in school - hell, even in Florida they let us do that if for some reason we want to - it's our damn clothing!

I just made myself a Banana Smoothie and now I'm even more cold... HOW STUPID AM I?!?!?!?!?  *shivering....*
Up here in West Central P.A. (wear in the appilachians or however you spell it)  It is basically the wind chill.  If not for the wind chill, it'd be 0 degrees out and I'd be sitting in school Learing about the Progressive Era. Blah.

Yeah, we cant really bring our cats in the house, first off, we have 15 or something. Second, they'd kill our bird and fish in the house. But yeah, I guess the grass is always greener on the other side, and right now, I just want it to be warm, I bet in the summer I'll want it to be cold again.

I'm with you Legend, me and my gf always buy ice cream and eat it while we watch movies. The people at the gas station where we buy the ice cream always look at us like we're crazy, though they're probably right.
