Title: Charas Resource Contest 4 take 3(?)
Post by: GaryCXJk on February 09, 2007, 10:09:37 PM
I know that I shouldn't actually post it here, due to the fact that nobody goes here at all, but since the very first discussion of the Charas Resource Contest was held here, I think it's right to talk about it here again.

Anyway, same rules, same way of judging, new judges. What do you think?

The original topic was here (http://charas-project.net/forum/showthread.php?threadid=77&forumid=15&catid=4&page=1).

 It's for the generator?

Well, I could hurry up on finishing Sheng's clothing and put it.

Or maybe his hair or something.

can be anything, by that I mean, character, battle character or face?

Heh. Shouldn't this go in the contest thread?

Also, I think this is a good idea. The generator needs more (and better) stuff.

I was wondering when a new annual charas sprite contest will show up. It was a like a tradition back in the day.

3 judges + Me. Scores out of 5(Averaged from judges). Resources have to have the prefix {RC} on their filenames. Must not require editing (IE having a green background will disqualify that resource, even if it's the most beautiful thing we've ever seen).

1.Should scores stack? IE - if you submit two resources that are both 5s then you get 10?
2.Other than that, any other qualms with the plan? I'm putting the timeframe at 10 days from the start of the contest. Also, what will the prizes be?

Any. Each generator will have a separate category, so in the end there will be three winners. However, I'll instruct judges to give lower scores to more simple resources - I might up the possible points to 10 and limit stuff like hair at 5 and not allow items or something.

I think {RC} would be better as prefix.

Anyway, about your other points:

1.Should scores stack? IE - if you submit two resources that are both 5s then you get 10?

No. I think both resources should be counted as seperate entries.

2.Other than that, any other qualms with the plan? I'm putting the timeframe at 10 days from the start of the contest. Also, what will the prizes be?

The original contests were about a month long. It would give people plenty of time to know about the contest, as well as perfecting their resources.

I'll go and make a fourth banner soon, in case it would become FP news or something.

The CRC have always been about improving your skills, not winning. Of course, there could be a prize, but is it really needed?

I think there should be a prize - it is a contest, and the best way to motivate people is with a prize. Colored names are kinda dead - any other ideas?

I was thinking of giving out signature medals to the winners of my contests, perhaps you could do that too? The only problem with me giving them out is I have no way of enforcing others to not take them, as I know there would be some person out there that would use the medal in their signature even though they didn't win.

But seriously, How much of a gomer would you have to be to sport a fake charas award in you sig?

Id like to contribute to this.I hope I get time.
I so wish the generator did XP sprites...Ive got a bunch of that crud already made.

I think Signature awards are a good idea.
I really enjoy my coloured name...

Could it not be mentioned in say like, the newspage thingy on the Mainpage thingy?

Like a CONGRATULATIONS TO CHUNKS MALONE AND RUNNER UP, NIFTY MACDOUGAL ON THE SPRITE CONTEST

More contests are a good way to keep the forums anchored. It make the forums seem a bit more.....um.....rpg maker oriented?

I generally approve of this contest. I don't mind being one of the judges. I'll also sanction any sort of prize that doesn't involve changing the forum code. Colored names, signature metals, whatever you want.

I'm still looking for ideas for a prize. I'm considering something like a copy of Sonic Heros, or another game that one of us has that they aren't using and would like to donate to Charas.

I think it's better to give a DS / PSP game, or a gift certificate for a webstore or something. A DS / PSP game is region free, and a gift certificate for a webstore would be a wickid gift.

Yeah, um, no. Unless you want to pay for the prize yourself.
