Well, in 2008, all you of age America chaps will be voting in your new president. Between the black guy, the woman, the spanish guy and the dumb guy, it'll certainly be an interesting election.
Now, if the black guy, Obama gets elected, he wants to pull out all of America's forces from Iraq. This is one of the more known things about Obama, especially here in Australia.
John Howard, our prime minister, is bestest friends forever with George Bush, supporting a war that like, most of Australia do not want. Ol' Johnny's been on the offensive, saying that pulling out of Iraq will be detrimental to stuff of sorts.
So, what if next year, Obama wins presidency, Rudd wins Prime Minister-ship, and everyone takes their troops out of Iraq?
What do you think would happen?
-
EDIT: Hum. His official website contradicts everything I've previously read about him. Well, either way...
I like Obama's views, but I don't think he would make an effective president. He has little experience, and most of his major bills were joint projects that he had help on. True, he is open to compromise with the Republicans (And thus can get more done, supposedly), but he's just not decisive. He had to form an exploratory committee to figure out if he wanted to be President or not.
Hilary Clinton, on the other hand, has already showed that she can make a plan and execute it. During her time as the first lady she made some great strides towards universal healthcare, and whether you support that or not, you can't deny she did a decent job of trying to get it passed (It was barred by the Republican Congress).
There's some controversy over how she voted to invade Iraq, but at this point she's vehemently against it - people change their minds, it's not that big of a deal. The fact is, whatever she does, she will do, which will be a nice change after the stagnant condition that Iraq has been in for awhile.
-
Well actually what I was trying to ask is if we pull out of Iraq, what happens? Terrorists wins, more trade centers are blown up, they relent, what what what?
-
We pull out with a trained police force and government that has had experience working on it's own (With military help intervening only in worst cases), and the country has a chance at keeping it's troubles in itself, although solving the religious wars is still something that doesn't have an immediate solution.
We pull out straight away, and the country falls apart. Iran gets pissed because they will feel a sudden surge of immigrants escaping the ensuing chaos, and we only make more enemies.
-
Indeed. If we can get a force or Iraqis that know what they're doing, I'd be all for us pulling out. I don't want us over there, but I think we need to be for now at least. We pull out now however, it becomes total anarchy and the country destroys itself.
While I don't like any of the candidates, I'd sooner move to Siberia then have Clinton win.
-
We need to get out of Iraq, now. The Iraqi people had nothing to do with 9/11, they have nothing to do with WMDs, and they have nothing to do with us. They are quite hostile towards us, but that's their decision. As a matter of fact, I have a quote from Bush himself when asked what Iraq had to do with 9/11 (the original excuse for going there): "Nothing!" Point is, we're there for strictly political reasons. I'm gonna be 18 by then, so I'll be voting then. Not sure who to vote for (there aren't any good politicians anymore), but I damn sure ain't voting for Hillary.
That anti-violent game whore.
-
I'm pretty sure a Republican president will win again, unless the electoral college gets axed. I should be a Republican. Why all the screw ups?_sweat_
While I really like Obama (black dude, from Illinois, I got to meet him once which was cool), I don't really see him as president. I mean...he has been a senator for what, two years?
If I had to pick, it would be Hilary Clinton. That's not saying much.
-
I'd have to say that Obama would be the best choice for president. And don't start that "inexperienced" crap with me, many of our 'better' presidents were inexperienced in politics. Ronald Reagan was an actor.
As for the Iraq war, we should only pull out after we stabilize it. If we pull out immediately, it will cause more damage and suffering than just staying there.
Better yet, let's just cut all ties to the middle east. That place is waaay too chaotic.

But isn't that supposedly where most the oil is coming from these days?

Bingo.

Like I said: Political reasons. We own he oil, we own the world. But when I say "we", I mean "our government".

And all oil comes from Alberta, Canada.

Its true, I live here.
HERE BE MY PREDICTION
Its all rigged, in my opinion...
BUT...
Its gonna Appear like its between Obama and Clinton
Obama will lose, but nobody can call bunk, because "Hey, Its a woman! Its not discriminatory! See?!?"
The Oil does come from Canada though.
Alberta. The biggest boom in the effin world is goin down here.
Even the hobos have jobs. Theres a HUGE shortage of Service Industry workers because of all the ridiculous paying Oilfield Jobs.
The Whole Middle east thing is Just a diversion from the Jews trying to Destroy the world.
Um....That was just my Opinion is all.
-
Obama will lose, but nobody can call bunk, because "Hey, Its a woman! Its not discriminatory! See?!?"
She may be a woman, but Obama is black, so it works both ways.
Anyway, we shouldn't pull out of Iraq, that'd pretty much be the stupidest thing we could do. We're not fighting the people, we're not going off and killing the people, we're fighting terrorism. Yeah, I don't think we should have ever gone in there, but we did. If we pull out now, the country is going to crumble, and even more harm will be done.
I'm not one for imposing our ways on other countries, I think we should just stick to ourselves, but in some cases, dropping everything and leaving would be just stupid. We should leave, but slowly.
-
It'll be Obama against Hilary for the Democratic ticket. I think Obama can score points with Republicans easy, since most Republicans hate her. I agree with Moose on the point of Hilary being decisive, which is a good thing to have, but I don't really know about her. I don't know much about her to make any real remarks on her. I'm just going to see who it boils down to to make my decision.
-
If I were american, Id be ruthlessly suspicious of the whole two-families-dominating-over-the-rule-of-a-world-superpower thing..
I Dont think your doodz can outright pull out...but I think its a good time for your Decison making types to be figuring out a solid strategy for withdrawl.
I mean, wether or not you support the war...you can't argue that a sudden immediate withdrawl would have some serious side effects.
Id like to see obama take it, myself.
Either way, When I take over, and Western canada is its own sovereign nation, were going to militarize and pwn the world.
Or be run asunder.Either way, its gonna be fun.
-
Whoal... whoa whoa whoa...
A Black man is being allowed to run for president... in AMERICA? Am I missing something here?
-
We never DIDN'T allow black people to run for President, it's just that one hasn't been gotten into a position where they'd be able to be elected(Senator, governor, or Representative with a big enough following) until now.

This is one reason why I think America deserves to die.
Not all of it, there are some small areas which should be allowed to continue quite happily, just as remote islands somewhere away from the rest of humanity.
Anyway, since Blair is currently the Bush-bitch we're obligated to have an opinion of these things. Someone honest needs to get in.
I mean, Bush currently refuses to admit that America is a major contributor to global warming. Like, lolwtf.
*Goes off to make anti-America rant to a more wisely-chosen audience*

Die? That sounds a little extreme... I don't want our current set of corrupt-assed politicians in any office, but there's not a lot I can do. Money talks, and I don't have much money. America isn't a bad place, but its political leaders are.

America's political leaders are a bad place..?
Also, America rules. People who hate Americans are jealous of their great handsomeness and cartoons.
Yeah, you brits.. you wish you had come up with space ghost
but ya didn't.

I'm sure there's a billion bad things my government and country are doing that I wish would stop, but seriously, I've got my own future to worry about right now. And even if I did the impact I would make wouldn't be significant without years of devotion to the cause, and quite frankly, I would much rather try to live a successful personal life.

Reads: "I'm selfish."

Who cares if he's "selfish" or not. Aren't most human beings selfish anyway?

Lets see how many more generalizations we can squeeze onto this page, in opposition to the last one

Generalizations, MrMister, not facts. Jeez.
And how again is trying to live a good life being selfish? In fact, it's rather selfish of you to expect me to do anything more for something I'm not that concerned about.
-
Living only for yourself is selfish by definition, but human beings, indeed all life on this planet, is instinctively selfish. Selfless people are going against their instincts, and that's hard to do. Very few people could not be considered selfish.

Ooh look at moose getting all philosocal

Racial stereotypes are generalizations AND facts. :)
-
In that order, I assume?

I was kind of being overdramatic. Lawl. Also, you all know I don't like America, so don't try to reason with me, bishes. :)
Oh, and Moose is right, and White has apparently invented a new word with "philosocal".
-
philosocal is a pastry dough manufactured in the sacremento area.
Also...
Black people have stinkier poops.
-
Ahh, damn it.
There's a white man and a black man, and they're arguing about whether God is black or white. They're bickering and getting nowhere, both of them are refusing to give an inch. The white man insists that God is white, while the black man refuses to believe that God could be anything other than black. So they decide to get some answers; both of them pray to God, and His voice comes down: "YES?". The white man says, "We were wondering God, are you black or white?". There's a pause, and then God says "I AM WHAT I AM".
The black man says "Ah, see, there's no proof that either of us are right". The white man shakes his head and says "No, that proves that God is white. If he was black he'd have said "AH IS WHAT AH IS".
*End of racial stereotype*
Oh yeah, and I didn't notice White's thing. We do not need Bill Gates in charge of America. Nobody wants a senate that crashes whenever an important decision needs to be made.
-
Oh haw haw microsoft crashes, well done.
-
Things in Iraq will probably return to the way they were before we invaded, minus Saddam of course.

Nor a senate that it's easily brought to its kneels by a virus; or a senate that uses more and more resources every time you change it, and shows no real improvements.

Ok, enough Widows jokes.

We have that now. It's called "the senate" :(

lol.
Oh come on, everyone knows the white man gonna win. That's how it always is. A female president? A black president? Ha, this is just the government's way of giving us false hope. They know that if they show people that minorities (women are included, for those of you who don't know) can get a chance to run but not win will still have people hoping that next election a minority will win. It keeps people from seeing what's really going on around them.

You're retarded, because people will give the black guy votes just like they give the shitty singers on American Idol votes, because Simon was mean to them. People will vote for him because he's black.
Not to mention that cunty jezebelle Hillary could win because she appeals to ***hole moms around the country.
edit: if I wasn't clear, midnight shut the FUCK UP
edit2: obama hussein barack sounds too much like osama bin laden AND saddam hussein. On top of that, Bush -> Clinton -> Bush -> Clinton would be really weird.

You dumb **** be serious. With that electronic voting crap, our votes don't really matter as much as we think. And I say it with love.
-
I think that Hillary could be a good president. She needs to be a little less of a PTA mom when it comes to videogames, though. But, it's like my deadbeat dad always said--"The US would prefer to have a black president to a woman-president."
Either way, this is probably gonna be the most controversial election ever--one ethnic group is gonna feel cheated.
As for what will happen in Irak, well...let's face it--after all of the propaganda, nobody's got a friggin' clue why 9/11 happened, 'xcept the governent. The US is in a war they've got no business in--like what happened in Vietnam. That's a religious war that's been going on for over a thousand years--that war won't end unless God Himself rears his head down there and stops it himself. If the US pulls out, I doubt anything big will happen. Things might even shape up. Look at what happened in Korea.
...I'm missing a vital fact, aren't I?
For the record, I'm still 17, so I can't vote. But I'm not interested in it--either way, whoever gets chosen will be controlled by something.
-
Don't talk to me about voting... this year we have presidential elections over here as well, and every single polititian running for president is, either a thief and a lier (like our current bastard... I mean, PRESIDENT) or a thief and a lier... who has lied before!
I don't know who the hell to vote and I guess that I should run for president, just to be able to vote for someone whom I know thinks the same way as me :p
And about Irak, nothing changed till now and the only thing that will change if the US leaves is that there will be less prisoners or "so called terrorists" sent to Guantanamo. In fact things are the same as when that bastard Saddam (who must be dancing in Hell, rest in piece XD), only that the violents have changed their position (first, the sunnits had the power and pursued the shiits, now the shiits have the power and pursue the sunnits... along with allied forces of course), and the oil fields are under control of private enterprises...
-
I agree with MM...
F'real though. The "White man" Is suffering from a severe lack of voter confidence these days.
Look at the jobs the LAST 3 WHITE MALE presidents have done.
The Obama Hussein will get votes....pity votes....minority votes.
Clinton will still do the bidding of the white majority.....But she will be the PR campaign that between the lines says "Look you can support your government now....its not a white male....its a white males wife"
Mid, Seriously I love ya, but Im willing to be fIFty american bones that hillary takes it....she is a jezebelle cunty but shes the obvious pre-chosen winner.
Democracy with such a shareholder majority is a farce...so the obvious choice for the ruler of the christian right, is Hillary. Its an effin media campaign...And hillary is the star of next weeks episode
Besides, they wont put Obama in....He plans on pulling out, which is no good for the war macheen.
Notice i have not once Said "Vote in"
Because you vote means nothing. Its inane and menial. Like letting your child think the kittly belongs to him because his chore is to feed it. It give the illusion of being a participatory member of the system that is "The kitty"....In the end, its the parents buying the litter and food.
That was a weak comparison, but you get the picture
