Post by: coasterkrazy on February 24, 2007, 08:36:10 PM
Just curious, does anyone else here do this or even have a team?

Meh, I don't debate anyway. I'm an interper.

Okay, but what does debating have to do with forensics?

What do forensics have to do with anything

You'll have to excuse me while I go and upgrade my rebuttal database....

Anywho, to attempt to answer the first question....

At me school, we have a forensics class, but I don't think we have a club/team for it.  However, I am not actively involved with my school, so I'm never really sure about any thing that goes down there...

Woah, how often do crimes happen in your school!?

In unrelated note, I remember a long time ago where you heard a sample of my voice and said I sounded like I'd be good at forensics. Apparently, it's possible to determine whether one is good at something by just listening to them talk. How odd. Hmm..

If that theory holds true, then apparently I'd be good at organizing school bombings/shootings... >_>

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa okay. I need to clarify some things. I forgot to think how so many people would assume forensics was forensic science. No, in this sense, it's competitive speaking. Basically, there are two main sections: speech and debate. Speech includes interp, which is interpretation of literature. I mainly do oral interp of literature (OI), which is prose and poetry combined into one event (sometimes they are divided). The other interpretations are dramatic interp (DI), humurous interp (HI), and duo interp (Duo).

If you want details, you can look it up on wikipedia. I just figured people who responded who had a team would know what I was talking about when I said "competitive speech and debate." Well, it appears little to no people here do it then. :p

It's done nationally, but not too many schools do it, although there are a lot that do. I figured maybe there might be people here who compete in it.

Btw, Bluhman, yes I did think that by hearing your voice because, well, it is competitive speaking (acting really), and you sounded like you could do well in it.
