Title: MTG topic thingy
Post by: Roland_Deschain on April 01, 2007, 04:30:05 AM
I'm less of a geek than I thought. So, here's a magic topic. If anyone else plays the game, then here's a forum for it.

Dickweed.

I don't have a problem with Magic, just never got into it. Bought em for awhile, just to look at the art.

Mostly the same here, until my older brother taught me how to play and I learned that half the cards I had were worth a lot of money. i started playing a bit, and the rest is history.

I used to play it when my friends also did. I still have my nulty-colored, cheap sliver deck somewhere.

Wow. Slivers are WeIrD now. They got so many stupid abilities with the new sets.

Duuude, don't invite flames unless you want them.

Also, I do not play such a game. I do have a card though, it came with one of my HYPER>>s.

Never played it. You don't need to defend yourself against anti-geeks here, though. Just don't be a noob and you're pretty much okay.

I played for a bit a long time ago, around when the Ice Age set came out. I got a lot of cool and rare cards, but being in like 6th grade and not understanding it, I traded most of them away for crap. Ah well. I was never very good at it anyway.

I wanted to get into that two years ago but I am stuck with cards from other games so I don't want to do that all over again.

I used to collect the cards because I thought they were cool looking, but I never played the game. My friend was always asking to borrow my cards to battle with, so I guess I had some good stuff, but I dunno.

I especially liked those Drakes. "Drakes like being dragons, untill the real dragons show up" is what I always think of when I hear Magic: teh gatherin'.

Now, what we need to have is a topic about Pokemon cards. Cause, like, every1 had something to do wit dat.

I once traded a holographic Mewtwo for a Dewgong. And then won the Mewtwo back because Dewgong whoops his *** stat-wise.

I still prefer the wuote for my(read: My friend's but I 'borrowed' from him every time I had to play) Sliver Overlord:

 "The end of evolution."

 It's eye-catching and simple.

Magic is a very entertaining game.  I actively play it at my high school.  There is a Magic club at my school that I run and I have 20 active members.  It just proves that it is okay to play Magic.

Wait, since when are there silver coloured cards in Magic?

Not silver, sliver. Switch the i and the l.

I only have two of them so i don't know much about them.

I love MTG. My favorite card would have to be the Mistfrom Ultimus. Pair that with exoskeletal armor and you got one badass creature.

For those that don't know, Mistform Ultimus is every single creature type, yet it may attack as though it weren't a wall. Exoskeltal armor gives enchanted creature +X/+X where X is the amount of creatures you control that share a creature type with enchanted creature.

That + easy summon deck = total pwnage.

Door to Nothingness.  2 of each color of mana and target player loses the game.

Fun and all, but I like bogardan hellkite. Him plus Momentary Blike=20 points of damage.
I DID play with Door, when it was legal...

Speaking of no-longer legal cards, I know a kid with both halves of B.F.M.

Easy to beat with Grotesque Hybrid, though. Why that's not banned I don't know. I have like four of them in my zombie deck. *Dusts off old deck* Yup, 4 and ton of sacrificing and organ grinders. :D

Autowin != Autogood.  I win turn 4 with aggro.  You n00bs need to die.  :vampire:

Yeah, except when I helix your creatures, then win the NEXT turn with Hellkite. Aggro isn't bad, but control is harder to play and more accepted as good within hardcore magic circles. Plus, WOg, Damnation, Helix and Fetters pwn aggro.

You have no idea how wrong you are.  Those cards hinder aggro, but do not "pwn" it.  I can still beat decks that use those cards.  If you WoG or Damnation, I just play more creatures (I run weenie, so I can pretty much play just as many creatures as before in one turn), in all likelyhood my next turn.  Also, you can't helix and fetters everything.  By using those, I win the mana war.  If you think aggro doesn't require as much skill to play, you have been horribly deceived.

I like when people say that auto-win is great. It's not. One of my deck is based on the mighty Psychatog. Self-traumatize and you're a walking corpse.

But my personal favorite is my destroy deck. Lucky enough to have 2 Damnation and 2 Royal Assassins with a splash of Demonic AND Vampiric Tutor. That deck is far from legal under any types but it's great for casual play.

As far as the troll goes, it will fall before Damnation before it can reach my mother, lol.

I didn't say control took more skill, just that it was harder to play since everyone expects it.
As for wrath and damnation not pwning aggro, I have to agree, but helix and fetters hinder aggro's goal: putting me at zero. But, see, I beat a weenie deck recently by helixing one kird ape and attacking with lightning angel ftw. The helix brought me up to enough life where I could stabilize, and that's what counts. Believe me, I've been on both sides of helix v. aggro, and it HURTS!

To BSW: I don't think auto win is great. Check the MTG blog about Dragonstorm on my site.

Weenies are great if they're not the same type...else you could be screwed unless they're goblins...then you can just bombard them straight in your opponent's face.

Every type of deck is powerful in it's own terms and comparing decks that aren't the same type is like comparing an orange and a bus...and say that the bus is better because it can go from point A to B faster than the orange.

Blue Control decks are great, I'm a huge fan of Psychic Battle and Deflection. Play it 'Morph' and you've got one mean deck. Too bad I live in the middle of nowhere, I can't play Magic anymore.

Maine is just as bad as wherever you live for magic. There is only one gaming-based store that isn't in Ellsworth and everyone there plays blue. Me? I play mono black control. I actually works out alright, but the deck is hard as hell to play in some situations. But, hey, I got first in FNM, so I can't complain too much about it.
