Title: Would you play this?
Post by: A Forgotten Legend on April 09, 2007, 10:50:09 PM
Well, I am making a game that well, has singing in it, (from musicals) and some coreography, and it is my Notre Dame: The Beauties and the Beasts.
I have the storyline already in my head, and, if you don't like hearing music like singing and stuff than this would NOT be the game for you.  I anyone wants to hear any of the music I'm putting in ask.

Anyway, I am making my own menu system, and this is my first project I'm taking some time with coding and stuff.  And before I got too far, I wanted to know if anyone would actually play it.

Key:
N - Notre Dame de Paris
B - Beauty and the Beast
Storyline so far:
As an introduction you watch a character sing The Age of the Cathedrals from N. Next you watch a group of refugees and thier leader ask for asylum at the gates of Paris singing The Refugees from N.  The next thing you see is Phoebus (N) Telling a woman he's late to meet his finace, Belle (B) is hanging around some buildings waiting for him to leave, after he leaves she talks about how nervous soilders make her.

Would you play this?

You know, the play I was in this year was Beauty and the Beast, and it was an alright experience. You seem like a decent little folk, so I wouldn't mind trying it out.

I was in Beauty and the Beast in 2005.  I was a 7th grader, so I was perfect for the sheperd boy.  my fav. part was being the the pub scene, I made people laugh with my "try and get into the bar and steal oth peoples drinks" I pretended to be drunk at the end of gaston's song.  I also was a rug.  I had to push Chip around...
anyway, thanks.

Sure, i'll play it. I'll play almost any game. As for plays, I played a drunken Irishman in my school's play last year. T'was fun playing a guy who seems like a supporting role but is really the main badguy.

Could you explain the storyline a little as a whole? So far all I know is that it's an odd cross between Beauty and the beast and the Hunchback of Notre dame... Or is it something original? Aaand, where does the rpg come into it, or is it just a showpiece?

Stage musical singing is one of the only things I can't stand. Watching a musical isn't my cup of tea but it's alright, but I really don't like the music on it's own. That said, that's just me. It's great that you're producing something original and not going with the grain, and if you need any help with coding or whatever, PM me and I'll try and help :)

Actually, If you looked on the programming area, I asked about problems I had coreography, but I fixed it, so you don't just hear the music. hmm... you actually do get to play it as a game, its not just cut scene after cut scene.

The only coding problems I'm having is the imenu. Item menu, and the task menu.
(The menu is made up of the menu, an item menu, and a task menu)  I am terrible at variables, (I could figure out how to go from the menu and back, but thats it).
Anyway, um, for more info go to this page of my site: http://www.freewebs.com/neopianbeginnersociety/myprojects.htm

Eventually all of the storylines intertwine.

Well, I've started downloading some of the songs from Beauty and the Beast.  The narrator's voice from the original broadway cast is so powerful.  It scared me at first.  I like how he says "love a Beeeast"  It sounded a bit funny.

I added the song to the page, its where you look at the beast's "description"  this is the song I'm going to use in the game.

1482 to 1892 is a REALLY broad range of time, but then again, I never knew when HBOND, B&B, or POTO took place.

its kind of a ok Quasimodo and Belle's stories take place then many generations later, the Phantom is born.

*SPOILER*
The Phantom is a decendant of Belle and Beast
*END SPOILER*

That's how I tied it in.

Did you now they have a Belle cameo in Hunchback of NotreDame?  During Out There, they zoom in on the town square and she's reading a book while walking.

But, I'm not going with the Hunchback of NotreDame storyline, but the Notre-Dame de Paris Storyline, which is a bit more for older audiences.

I probably wouldn't play it. Not saying it's a bad idea (it's not a bad idea at all) but it's just not what intrests me. Good luck with it though. =)
