The real question is, what happens when you make your school in Oblivion?

"The student was known to have yelled, "Die, fetcher!" and called his teachers "N'wah" on a regular basis, which led to an investigation where the student was found to have made a copy of his school in the popular game 'Oblivion.' In the game, the player takes on the role of a prisoner in jail tasked by the late king to save the county. The violent nature of the game (which includes violent killing of ogres, demons, and giant walking crocodile people) prompted authorities to hold a public execution of the child. Jack Thompson was allowed to bathe in the child's blood after he requested it upon hearing the news."

[...]though it has noted elsewhere that the fact the student in question was Chinese adds an eerie parallel to the VT tragedy which involved another Asian student.

Of course! If the gunman in the VT massacre was Asian and this guy creating CS maps is also Asian, he must be planning to shoot up his school! <_<

They probably jumped to it as well because on of the people involved in Columbine (Don't remember which) made maps for Doom that resembled his school.

 No.

The guy made maps for Doom, yes, but none of them resembled his school.

I heard about this a long time ago. There go my plans to make a bad-ass set of CS maps of my school... Don't want to go to jail, you know.

I am so glad you live in England, too. You can tell me all the evil little English secrets so I can tell them to my government!

I mean by that, of course, that I could enrich the multicultural knowledge of my friends and family...

Bah, what a load of crap. If people are so goddamn worried about this kind of ****, why is it they only 'spring into action' right after something bad happens? Years from now, no one will care if you make a CS map of your school. Unless there's another shooting incident at a school, then it's back to "ZOMG, J00 CANT D0 THAT! U MUST WANT 2 KEEL EVERY1!"

I want to kill someone.

But of course, that has nothing to do with CS mapping.

I still can't figure out what crime was committed here. So what if they're making maps of their school? It's a large building that they are familar with since they go there every day. I'm all for keeping schools safe, but I think protecting virtual maps of schools on someone's computer goes a bit far.

Completely true.

Aside from that, many schools have the blueprints framed in the halls or at the public library. A blueprint is much more inforative than a replication for a game.

In the famous words of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, "They never change security until it's too late."
