Title: Name suggestions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: Miss Muffet on June 08, 2007, 06:12:25 AM
Yeah. Here are some characters. I came up with a few names for them but I can't decide and I'd like to see ur suggestions first.

U can also post what u think about these characters and their personalities and which ones should be the main characters.

Other comments are welcome. :jumpin:

I'll tell you, try not go go for the name "Victor". Nearly every game uses it, try not to have a boring name, like "Jonathan" or "Michael". Don't just go for a name at random, work at it until it sounds cool. I have a vampire in my game called "Laxe" and his brother is called "Ordis". I prefer weird names.

Alternatively, you could always use a random name generator. They have thousands upon billions of random names.

Random name generators save alot of time. This one program I have, "RMXP Tools '07", has a random name generator (Usable for more than character names), and you can choose from 'Demon', 'English', 'Gaelic', 'Greek', and 'Japanese'. I use japanese the most.

..........
Errrrrr....... hold up. You basically want the boards both to tell you the names and their personalities and who your main character is? .......okay then. Riiiiiight. If you don't have character ideas, even, where's your story? Where's your game? Name suggestions are more apt to be useful if we know who each face is and what they're like, even. If you're just saying "What kind of dood does this dood look like?"...... uhmmm..... then nix this comment I guess. Well not really. I'm glad to help with names. Just tell me who these folks are. Pretty please?

I think what Phayre's saying, and she's absolutely right, is that an RPG's most important aspect is it's characters. If this is gonna be your game, then you're gonna have to think up their personalities for yourself. Personally I think it's the most enjoyable part >.>

Are you allowed to use Solian like that? (He's letter D.) Just asking.

If you need help on names, I'd reccommend looking at a baby name finder, or Seventh Sanctum.com. I do agree with Phayre and Moosetroop11. You should create their personalities on your own.

My advice, try to keep them simple, symbolic, and reasonable. Remember, a parent or soemthing. had to name their child so something like Xisjjfknellnmslnlsnlsanlsmaltajnsnvithdjjvsxia is out of the question. :p

Do what I do, name characters based off of mythology.  I recommend Norse and Celtic mythology myself, but whatever floats your boat.

Seriously, it adds depth to your game.

I dunno. But we're probly not goin to use him cuz we found this other knight with green hair and he looks better than Solian does.

Plus those aren't really all our characters. We're probly not goin to use all of 'em cuz we have three charas thats already finished- u know, name personalities and all. And we dont wanna have to many heroes in our game. (Man, I write long posts)

Experiment with vowels and consonants. Having 2 vowels next to each other can make a name seem more unusual, as though the character is from somewhere far away. Simple names, ie "John", though boring, seem more familar, and the player can relate to them. Experiment.

Also, I only just realised Phayre is female. O_o

As you may see from my name, I'm a particular fan of the 'ae' combination, as well as 'y's.

Grouping things in syllables can work too.

I can't come with names for every character, but the old man just yells "Caligula" at me.

I totally diagree with Norse names. They're rather overused nowadays, and fairly easy to recognize. Maybe just because I've studies it for a while.... dunno. But I'm rather sick of people throwing in Ragnarok, Fenris/Fenrir, Odin, et cetera, and acting like they're the shiznit. Oh look, my thief's name is Loki cuz he's tricky! Wooooooooo!!!!

Wait... Wait... I can do this.

A: Evan Jones is a fat, dumb, beer-swigging loser who has no allies in the unforgiving world. He wields his giant hammer with little skill, but great strength, and is generally not a very sharp knife in the drawer at all. In fact, he could be more defined as a nutcracker.

B: Mica Fujiwa is... Well, We can't tell if he's a guy or a girl. He can whip off his cloak to reveal the blinding and horrible truth of its gender to its opponents in order to freeze them into their tracks, and then uses a bad *** whip-cane to whip...cane them to death. He has a very confused, drunken way of handling matters in life.

C: Officer Kroopey is a skilled police officer, being attentive and optimistic, who wields a cork gun. He somehow is able to make the cork gun pierce thick armors of opponents, and also cause the cork to set fire!

D: Jon Deane only wanted to be a ballet dancer. However, he was drafted into the Spathiwan Army of West Spathiwa. He, being a Spathi, has intense and undying interest in... Milk. His weapon is a titanium milk canister rocket launcher, and, despite strong armor, and powerful weaponry, Jon is a coward, and has often been described as a 'dork'.

E: Nurse Zelda is a nurse who has a wrench and syringe as a weapon. She is a total psycho, often diagnosing people with nonexistent diseases and giving fatal shots to patients using her surgery equipment. Despite this, officials credit her as a reliable worker and innovative problem solver. She's been speculated to have mind-control powers...

F: Sarah Bloody is a homeless woman who holds a long past of rivalries against Evan. Sarah wields a double-bladed sword as a weapon, but she has no idea how to use it. In her past life, she was a very skilled lawyer, and she is proficient in Spanish, algebra, and is very poetic.

G: Ms. Paint is a weird woman who somehow got her legs forever stuck into a single sock. Her hair fell into a green paintcan, and she's not wearing a shirt. Just looking at Ms. Paint causes enemies heads to explode. In order to stop this from happening, Paint must yell 'Huffi Muffi Guffi!" While flapping her arms.

H: Janet Planet is a woman who officially represents the planet Pluto. After hearing that her planet was no longer actually being referred to as a planet, but as something else, she was outraged, and came to Earth to destroy the humans and rename Earth to Pluto. After persuasion, she changes her mind about what to do, and joins the party. She wields a 'lazor pistel'.

I: Danny Groobar is an OLD, OLD man who was a japanese shogun who lived in england. He was extremley skilled in the art of Kendo, and was a devout follower of Zen Buddhism. Late in his life, he switched bodies with his younger brother, Denny Groobar.

J: Denny Groobar is a young rock star, in the body of a 89 year old. He's miserable of his choice to switch bodies. He thought he could get fame and fortune for being the oldest rock star in existence, but all he got was th ability to level entire cities by pushing over skyscrapers with incredible ease, and being able to run at 256 miles per minute. He's super strong, and unbelievably fearful of his own power.

K: 23456 Is a robot man with the face of a human. He was a pioneering project in order to make an android with the face of a man. Despite his face, he only uses it as a bludgeon, and will gleefully head butt anyone who threatens his safety, or the safety of his allies.

Whoo. Finally done. Hope that's some satisfactory bios, man.
