Title: Old Obscure Cartoons.
Post by: aboutasoandthis on June 17, 2007, 10:28:43 PM
The idea is simple. Post the title, and maybe a screenshot/link to a youtube video of a show you used to watch as a kid.

I caught my little brother watching this one, "Adventures in Wonderland." XD

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8eyTkt-6Lk

When I was a kid, I used to watch the humanoid-animal shows like Ninja Turtles and "The Swat Kats." After a while, I remembered this one, "The C.O.W.Boys of Moo Mesa."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIbFOTUCLws&mode=related&search=

Try to keep them obscure. This should be interesting.

Well, it was obscure for a while, not sure if it still is, but I used to watch that really corny "Challenge of the Super Friends." i mean, the name should tell you a lot about it. Mostly, I watched it to laugh at the lame plots such as "Oh no! These two old men are using magical water to control plants and steal air conditioners! Let's kick their asses back to 1924!" and others.

I watched a cartoon called Mummies Alive when I was little, but I don't remember much about it. I think they fought crime or something.

EDIT: Youtube intro get!

I remember that show. It was like TMNT but with mummies. It was pretty weird.

The Adventures of  (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDxrTkFxHjA)Sonic the Hedgehog (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8S3D-nkmuY) - Slowwww Going. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BiALZpUO94)

Not sure if you'd consider this obscure, but it was something I used to watch, and I actually have this particular episode on VHS.

aboutasoandthis, I totally forgot about that show, I LOVED IT. (Adventures in Wonderland.) THANK YOU.

Is this obscure enough?

I can't do Youtube right now, but..... I'm a Darkwing Duck junkie to this day. When I was little, though, I liked Princess Guinevere and the Jewel Riders. Why? Because I'm a girl, I guess.

Samurai Pizza Cats was obscured... abit. And so was Conan. Oh and Captain Tsubasa (or "Los Super Campeones" for who live/d in central-south america and might've watched it)

If there's something else I watch constently was TMNT, but I dont reeally consider that obscured. They were damn famous.

Mummies Alive was awesome, although I don't remember a thing about the show (except for transformation scenes of some sort - weren't they CGI?)

Also, ReBoot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReBoot). Not quite obscure, though a lot of non-Canadians might not have heard of it.

How could I forget the show that made me stop hating cartoons when I was thirteen? I used to watch it but then RPG maker consumed my semblance of free time. Great show though.

Samurai Pizza Cats for sure. It seems almost no-one knows that show anymore...

TMNT of course
I remember Mummies Alive too
DarkWing Duck obviously
And Reboot at one point was my favourite show...

As for Reboot, that just never really clicked with me. I watched a lot of it, but none of it stayed in my memory. And even less of it makes me want to rewatch it. Lots of other people seemed to like it, though.

 Thundercats (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-sOaUAgbB4&mode=related&search=)
Don't even get me started on this awesome piece of nostalgic heroin.

 TMNT (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Zc2u5-h540)
What can I say?  I had good tastes.

 Voltron (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUvKV_eonOw)
 Rocko (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPIXBzyyzZM&mode=related&search=)
^GOTTA LOVE THAT SONG.

Cant find Angry Beavers, but It should be up here too.  Spooty spoot spoothead.

**** YO BITCH *** SHOWS, NIGGA. They bite! (http://youtube.com/watch?v=NqGQyMF5a_0)

XD I used to watch Mummies Alive and Sonic as well. But when it comes to shows around that time, nothing can beat The Super Mario Brothers Super Show! (http://youtube.com/watch?v=hGIYIGS2iPo&mode=related&search=)
Do the Mario! (http://youtube.com/watch?v=65uNCLBTje0)

Voltron
Mummies Alive
ReBoot
Beast Wars (Which was better than ReBoot, although not as obscure).
Gargoyles
Sonic

There was this other show, really obscure, but I can't remember the name. Was about these Shark guys that like... swam in ground, had 4 limbs, and fought crime or something. O_o

Was awesome, but I can't remember the name. ;.;...

It honestly WAS TMNT, but sharks swapped for Turtles. XD

Street Sharks!

I think I only seen like 1 episode. :P

That's it Rowan.

Street Sharks. It was a rip off of TMNT to the core. But it was great!

Man, this thread really is bringing back memories. There's only a few shows here I didn't watch!

Rocko's modern life
Beetlejuice (Cartoon Series)
Gargoyles
Tailspin
Chip and Dale Rescue Adventures
Are you afraid of the Dark
Beast Wars

Wow...

What about the original power rangers? With the red, blue, black, yellow and pink rangers? And the dinozoids. Man, I loved that show. I find it funny, that all kids shows now are soo dumb! Dora the Explorer and **** like that. WTF? And my generation seems to have less violence then the younger ones. Probably because we grew up watching it and learned it was wrong. Parents these days...

+ 10 million points for this man!

Well, since I didn't say it before...

SWAT KATS!

As for old cartoons having been real dumb, I've got to disagree to that statement as a whole: MOST old kids shows were dumb. I still watch a lot of them, though, and I know I'm not the only one who still loves Batman: TAS and Spiderman: TAS. Those are two prime examples of (not obscure) cartoons from back in the day that ruled the school.

"OMG, did he just say 'ruled the school'?"
Yes. Yes, I did.

Beast Wars and ReBoot FTW
Also, Count Duckula
Bananaman
Dangermouse

Post by: Fortet on June 18, 2007, 09:37:41 AM
Oh God, where to start . . .

Reboot
Rocko's Modern Life
Mummies Alive
Beetle Juice
The Adams Family
Gargoyles
Rugrats (Although it wasn't that obscure)

Now, non-cartoon things:
The Secret World of Alex Mack
So Weird
Are You afraid of the Dark?
Legends of the Hidden Temple
All That (Original :P)
Figure it Out!

And a lot of other things I don't remember XD
Title:
Post by: Dragonium on June 18, 2007, 12:57:42 PM
Mummies Alive and Gargoyles were awesome back then. xD

EDIT: Who remembers Batfink?!

Man, that was awesome. It was like, the cheesiest show ever. Was kind of terribly bad, but really awesome at the same time.

I once set a stuffed animal on fire due to Darkwing Duck..... it's a long, long story.....
Are You Afraid of the Dark? used to scare the pants off me. Especially the one with the vampire in the hospital, and the one with the lizards that turned into people.....  :o

Oh man, I remember a lot of the Are You Afraid of the Dark episodes...

Remember that creepy old fat guy that was in a bunch of episodes, like the one where there was a room that had your greatest fear in it. The one guy was afraid of a guillotine, and I can't remember how he escaped..

Good times.

I think I remember this show. Isn't that the one where a group of kids would sneak out at midnight and sit around a campfire to tell stories? That one up there was my favorite episode.

Edit: While on the subject, I know every single one of you had read at least one.

My favorite Are you Afraird Of The Dark was the movie special:

The Legend of the Silver Sight.

The most obscure thing I watched when I was little was Gadget Boy. It was about a lil Inspector Gadget when he was a kid and had all the robotic stuff, which is a contradiction to the original show, but eh, still good.

Kenan and Kel=Best god damn show ever. Well, okay, not really, but it was DAMN good. I watched Swat Kats as well, it was good. Mummies Alive was good, Street Sharks was good but confused me, I have honestly never watched Barney in my life. I might be screwed up, or I might have not had a TV until about seven. The old X-Men was awesome. I DO remember Batfink, but not very well. Oh, and the original All That was pretty cool. That is all.

If there's something else I watch constently was TMNT, but I dont reeally consider that obscured. They were damn famous.

Super Campeġes still playes here. A lot.[/B]

I only watched them in my childhood, and sincerely, I've never watched them since then. They poof'd from tv as soon as the whole thing was over.

The last season of Kenan and Kel really had jumped the shark however.

And so did All That when they brought it back, and then Kenan and Kel left. After they left, it had NOTHING (they WERE like the last remaining original cast members or something).

When I was younger it was all about the DBZ

Though I did like.

Salute Your Shorts
Are you Afraid of the Dark
Thunder Cats
Voltron
Batman
Roughnecks
Angry Beavers
Ducktales
Tale Spin
Rugrats
Beast Wars
Eath Worm Jim
Goof Troop
Johnny Brovo
Where in the World is Carmen Sandiago (whoever you spell it)
Freakazoid
Bobby's World
Aladdin
Pepperann
Gummi Bears (My life)

these are some of the shows I watch that I didn't see listed but then again i wasn't really looking...
As a child I didn't really watch too many cartoons I played more video games than anything and watched Animes.
I remember desperately looking for Dragonball Episodes.
Lucky me Hollywood Video store had a ton of Dragonball in Order.

This thread seems to be more about nostalgic cartoons than obscure ones...

I so totally forgot that show existed.

I got in trouble for watching Kenan and Kel cause my dad said it was "nigger shit". True story. But it was funny. So was All That.

Original Nicktoons own. Real Monsters, Rocko, Angry Beavers... yeah. Besides original Nicktoons, Reboot and Beast Wars were the best.

I remember Pepper Ann, too. That show's theme song is forever burned into my head. And wow, your dad sounds so racist... Glad my dad keeps things like that to himself.

TMNT
Rocko's modern life
Ren & Stimpy
ReBoot
...the Carebears
And few others I don't remember.
These were in french, though. But I used to watch some cartoons in english, even though I didn't understand a word of what they said. There was :
Gargoyles
Street Sharks
Earth Worm Jim
That one with the space mouses riding a bike, I forgot the name.
Mario Bros. thing and Legend of Zelda ( very few, though )
Probably some others...

I remember watching that.
Every time it came back from a commercial, it went back in the movie about 5 minutes before the commercial -__-;

Doubt they're obscure.. I'll just list cartoons I watched when I was younger (some I still do).

Rocko's Modern Life
The Critic (The Orson Welles scenes as well as the ones with Arthur are great XD)
Sonic the Hedgehog (the one with the Freedom Fighters or whatever)
Transformers
Animaniacs
Tiny Toon Adventures
Doug
Goof Troop (Speaking of which, A Goofy Movie is my favourite movie for some reason)
Daria
Science Court and Home Movies via Squiggle Vision
King Arthur and the Knights of Justice *laughs*
Pinky and the Brain
Angry Beavers
Aaahh!!! Real Monsters

Minds starting to draw a blank, likely more, meh.

Heh, Kenan and Kel certainly brings back memories.

The original or the Two Stupid Dogs version? Bah, who cares? They were both good!

Oh, and for the record, I have the Ren & Stimpy DVDs. George Liquor American ftw.

The remake of SS was MUCH better than the original 1960s version. Or whenever it was made.

It had a more defined style that really worked, and the cast of characters had been changed and updated and were far more interesting.
