Title: Critics
Post by: aboutasoandthis on July 10, 2007, 12:14:31 AM
At the end of the day you should decide things for yourself, but critics can be a nice guide. Which websites, magazines, TV Shows, newspaper people do you trust as far as reviews go?

This can be for anything...music, video games, movies, etc.

As far as movies I trust Joe Loves Crappy Movies almost entirely.

Something Awful.

I don't really trust their reviews and critics, but I find it funny to read.

G4/X-play, mainly because A. they're right about their reviews from what I've seen, and B. they're funny as heck.

I trust X-Play too. I like how their scores only use 5 points. I like Gamespot too. I don't like 10 point/include decimal scores, but I like how they put "Editor's Choice" tags on games even if they're not 10s.

For music, I like Rapreviews.com for hip-hop. They acknowledge a lot of great lyricists so they never give perfect scores. I like Sputnick Music for everything else. They can review an R&B or a Pop album without going "It's a single person singing. It's ****."

X-Play for games, Roger Ebert for movies.  I might not always agree wither iether of them, but I always understand their opinions, and both are enjoyable to read/watch.
