Title: Guitar Hero
Post by: SonicChaos7 on July 14, 2007, 04:34:30 AM
I was just wondering who here plays Guitar Hero. I own Guitar Hero II and have been playing quite a bit, but not much recently due to the fact I did have a job and I've been lazy these days. Anyway I just wanna know who plays, what difficulty, and what songs they like and have trouble on. I still have Less Talk More Rokk, Jordan, Six, Thunderhorse, and Trogdor left to beat on Expert, but I'm done with career mode now.

i don't like most of the extra songs, and only play them sparodically.

I know I beat Expert but haven't started attempting to 5-start it, a few Hard songs were giving me trouble. But I haven't played in months since my PS2 BROKE. T_T

I really need to get a new one.

I've played several times, and enjoyed it, but I never seem to have enough money to go and buy the damn game/games...

I've played it at a friend's house, and I really enjoyed it; surprising when you consider that I can't play the guitar at all, but I was pretty good for the first time playing.

I don't have them, but that's because I lack either a PS2 or an XBox 360. But I do have a Wii, so when GH3 comes out, I'm all over it.

In the meantime, I've been playing Frets on Fire.

I'm thinking about going out and buying the first Guitar Hero with my last paycheck, along with NCAA Football '08. Guitar Hero I has quite a good amount of good songs that I know and like... especially Cowboys from Hell. On GH2, I'm currently working on 5-starring all songs on Expert, which won't happen for months. I've only 5-Starred these songs on Expert:

Shout at the Devil
Mother
Surrender
Strutter
Heart-Shaped Box
You Really Got Me
Cherry Pie
Sweet Child O' Mine

I almost 5-Starred War Pigs the other day, but missed by maybe 1000-3000 points. :(

Personally I hated most of the songs on Guitar Hero 1.

You not a huge fan of Classic Rock?

I love playing it, but I don't have it (or a PS2), and I am only able to do songs up to Medium. Whatev, it's still fun.

I'll tell you what I hated: The crappy covers of wicked songs. I mean, really it was just a lousy singer most of the time, but that's enough to ruin the song for me.

My little brother has Guitar Hero 2. (He listens to rock.) I picked it up one day. It's fun. I suck though, the most I can do is hard mode.

Hard is the most fun, imo if you want to compete against friends, but Expert is also fun, though frustrating... like Free Bird and Freya on Expert. I played Freya over 30 times and Free Bird about 26 times. It's that tough. Freya gives you carpal tunnel and Free Bird slays your fingers.

I can beat most of the songs on hard pretty easily now. I'm stuck on 'Carry me home' though :(

Carry Me Home is all about mastering the intro. Once you get through that and the opening riff, you're set.

I'm still stuck on Jordan and Six on Expert... :(

Six is the hardest song I can't finish it on medium

It was alright, not as great as the hype though. It's the same as any other rhythm game, only with a different controller.

I don't own it, but my friend does, so I've played it a handful of times. I've never played on easy, skipped right to normal, and have only failed the first song that I've played. (Except when I play on hard and expert for kicks.) I'm not a huge fan of the song choice, I think that the first one had better.

I play occasionally, but I prefer other similar games like DDR. I'm not great at it, but when I get going, I really can't stop. It's pathetic.

Its an addicting game. Cool as hell. Im ok at it, I can do most songs on hard, but all my friends are a lot better than me. One of my friends has mastered it, he never misses a note on any song on expert. It's awesome, on songs like Jordan he just hits one note and hammers the next 100. He sold it saying it's not challenging enough. And he doesn't even play real guitar.

People who play real guitar say that this game is difficult in it's own way because it's a completely different style of playing. Although most people who play real guitar say it's easier to progress through the game. I have never touched a guitar (well I have, but I really suck... I'm a newb) and I'm doing well on Expert. So, it doesn't really matter if you can play or not.

Yea, I agree. Easy songs on real guitar are harder on GH2 (like Heart Shaped Box - Nirvana)

... I suck.  I played it at a friends house... I could only do Bass in the co-operation mode thingy and the easy modes.  Yet... I can play 2 woodwind instruments, a little piano, and I'm thinking about learning mellophone (brass -- marching instrument to replace the french horn).

My friend made me play it.  I don't like to play it...

You don't like to play it because you're not good at it? Sounds kinda lame to me.

To AFL, get your friend to let you do tutorial mode. Once you learn the highest note rule the game becomes much easier.

I can do a decent job on Hard Mode now after practicing, but I stink at this one song. I think it's called "Someone's In My Room" or something? It has a long repetitive section at the beginning. Any tips?

Who Was In My Room Last Night? I think that's the name. I haven't played that song in a while, especially on Hard (haven't played on Hard since early June). I'll give you tips once I play it again.

EDIT: Okay, the best way to handle it is when you break off the GY chords, it'll be R-Y-R-G-GY... etc. The pattern repeats itself constantly. What you need to do is use 1(index) and 3(ring) for the GY chords and when you get to the red, release ONLY finger 3, and press the red fret with finger 2(middle). To hit the next note, which is yellow, just press it with finger 3, still holding down on green and red. To hit the next red, release finger 3 off the yellow fret. Then for the green, release the red fret. That's all there is to it.
