Post by: X_marks_the_ed on July 17, 2007, 06:54:10 PM: Once again, Avatar Wars comes to town! For those who are not familiar with the game, here is how you play:

NORMAL
Submit a spritesheet to be used to represent you. However, you may not just use any character. The character in the spritesheet must either be:
-In your avatar
-In your signature
-In an avatar used by you in the past (must be recognizable, an example would be using I Have A Sandwich for ZKX, or Chicken Man for me (which I will post when I add the finishing touches.))
-In your RPG maker project

After submitting your spritesheet, you may your sprites and any other spritesheets to create a GIF image depicting the two fighting. It is up to you who wins, but chances are you won't want your opponet to win.

Posts regarding the creation of GIF images will not be tolerated. They waste the time of the people reading the thread.

I will store links to member sheets here, so you won't have to go through the posts to dig up some opponents.

TOURNAMENT
Also, this time I'd like to install a sort of tournament. (You may choose not to participate in the tournament.) Those who wish to give a whirl may sign up. If we get enough to join, we will begin with the first two combatants in line. Then both will post their animations, including a statement that the animation is for the tournament, the best part is that you do not have to win in the animation, the competition is between GIF quality. The animations will be graded by other members, on a scale of 1 to 10 based on the following criteria:
1.GIF smoothness- Does the animation move frame-to-frame without too much notice.
2.Creativity- How do the combatants fight?
3.Size- Is the animation fit for it's location. (Meaning, "does it lag the loading of this page?") To get around this, for big animations, use an external URL, such as photobucket, megaupload, fileshack, etc.
4.The Battle Itself- Is it a little one-sided? Try to make the fight a little balanced.
5.Speed- How long did it take to make the animation? Not too quick, and not too long.

For anyone: Just so you know, you don't have to join the tournament to make animations. You can still just make ones like the first avy wars.

Post by: Dragonium on July 18, 2007, 08:03:30 PM: Okay, I finished a fairly quick and simple Dragonium spritesheet. Note that this is subject to change if I make more poses for it. The top row are just generic poses, the bottom row is an attack sequence.

EDIT: Oh, and I forgot to mention, I don't want to take part in the tournament.

If you think it's appropriate, but I suggest only using one character in order to avoid confusion among the newer members.

I made a new spritesheet for myself. In the top-right corner you can see one of my Chicken Man sprites. I'd finish the sheet, but I'm out of ideas for attacks. (Before any of you make assumptions, that's a SPOON in his rocket launcher.)
