Title: Superstars!
Post by: lilsniffs on July 29, 2007, 09:39:10 PM
I'm making a multiplayer fighting game. The game may have only 8 characters, and the system isn't isn't finished (see tutorials), and it's my first game. There is the dumbest Title Screen attachment.

There is no story mode (sadly). There are 3 characters from the start:
Zach: Normal, Hero
Burns: Normal, Elder
Klaus: Normal, Adult, Demon
and there are five unlockable characters:
Clucks (chicken from Harvest Moon)
Snoop (RTP dog)
Taranuz (random guy): Assasin, Knight
Kobalt: Demon, Shade.
Rhinotaur (credits to RUGGORTHUMBER): Tunic, Pants.
There is one place to battle.

If the game is good, I'll make another. I used the RTP names.
This requires RTP for Rpg Maker 2003. There will be more pics soon. The game is almost done.

Wow, really? I thought about doing a fighter with AFL. Did you use a tutorial or sommat? Or are you just a whole lot smarter than me, coding wise? I assure you, it doesn't take much. ^^

I was using a tut for the battle system, but it won't work for multi player.

I used a tut for the multiplayer on     (http://www.gamingw.net)

No, I'm not smarter than you. I'm just a nine year old kid!(And a noob at RPG maker.)

BTW, whats AFL?

Oh yeah, heres another screen.

I need a new battle system, so i can't release a demo.
I changed the field. Here is the new battlefield. You can now fight on top of a house.

Oh. Okay. don't think I'm gonna call you a prodigy, bub. I've been doing HTMl since before you where born. Yes? no.... Yes. Crap. I suddenly feel old.
Anywho, your maps are very empy and don't look like fighting game maps. Maybe you could get some from a MUGEN site and just use a transparent map over one of those as a background?

You could have looked at her sig to find out what AFL is.
I am AFL.

...
...
...
...I think finding a script for RmXP would be easier to do than one on 2k3...  but anyway...   omg, Phayre!  I just realized what sprite I'm gonna use for the thing!!  THe one I used to Avatar wars would work!  YES!!!

Anyway, back on topic....

Looks like it'll be a comedy.  Don't see those everyday.  I wish you luck.

Now to go update my game, A Forgotten Legend.

I think he's talking about health bars for the two different characters.

Who can have a true fighting multi-player game without health bars?!?!?!

...Like I said earlier today, good luck. (wait... I said, "Looks like it'll be a comedy. Don't see those everyday. I wish you luck." ...eh, prettymuch the same thing.)

Ehh. Didn't you read my words: first game, and nine year old? I'm too lazy to make the pictures. To the Complete Resources!

Looks, looks looks.
Looks, looks looks.
Looks, looks looks.
Pictures aren't appearing on screen? I'll just use my lame system. Which is a boring press x,or c to show health.

                                             OFF TOPIC:
I'm now adding a flip feature to my games. Yet, for this game I won't use it in this one. I'll probably add it to my other games, and if this game is sucessful, in a sequel I'll add this feature.

Flip feature? As in watch the character do a flip? Cool.... by the way, AFL is A Forgotten Legend. He's my loyal minion, because if he ceases to be such, he will not get any more Ember SKy.

Minion? Oh yeah, the flipping won't work unless I edit my set, which I am too lazy to do.

Here's the thing, we all get your only nine years old, but when you decide to make a game, it's a lot of work, there's no way around, being lazy will doom your game and it shows lack of effort. :|

I'll try this and see if it works:

Page1 On Touch
Key Input Processing (Enter)
Show Battle Animation
Set Variable P2hp-10
Conditional Branch If Variable P2hp equal to 0:
Message: Player 1 Wins!
BGM: Victory1
Wait 10 tenths of a second
Set Variable Match Count+1

Page2 On touch
Key Input Processing (p216)
Conditional Branch If p216 equal to 16:
Show Battle Animation
Set Variable P1hp-10
Conditional Branch If Variable P1hp equal to 0:
Message: Player 2 Wins!
BGM: Victory1
Wait 10 tenths of a second
Set Variable Match Count+1

You're gonna need to do a lot of editing for a charset to work in a fighter. If you don't like it... don't make a fighter.
And yes. He's my minion. No one will disagree, especially not him. *points finger gun at AFL* Right, AFL?

maybe you shouldn't really call it a game and rather call it a experiment project or something like that to really get to learn your techniques.
Title:
Post by: lilsniffs on August 01, 2007, 07:53:46 PM
Ehh, true. I'll just call it an expiriment. I'll try to learn new things for one year. Who knows, maybe I won't be a lazy bum anymore? I'll return to this project in August 2008. Lock this topic.
