If I had been in the audience, I'd've been one of those 56% saying the Sun, just to mess with this dumbass.  That a human being could be this stupid is truly astounding.

The religion argument might have a point. A lot of France is very christian.

Nevertheless, it's almost too stupid to believe. And his wife thought differently? Has she never talked to the man about the moon?

I can't see how someone could live just pointing to the sky and going "There's the sun. Ow it just burnt my eyes" without wanting to know why it moved through the sky or anything.

He might have, but didn't actually look it up, thus he thought the sun rotates around the earth, instead of vice-versa
