I mean, what are the odds?
-
I don't get it.
-
Someone did not pay attention to the fact that Devon and Grandy are two of four of my main characters.
-
i wouldnt let it blow your mind. I can google the characters in my project and likely get similar results.
-
If you say so...
But still, I kinda made the name Devon up, and it's not like Grandy is a common name or anything. For both of them to be used by the same person at the same time.
-
I've known people named Devon and Grandy is actually a chain of restaurants XD
-
My friend's name is Devon. She's actually quite pretty.
-
My sister's ex-boyfriend's name is Devon.
-
So I made up a name that actually exists.
Things are just getting better.
Please tell me that Verth is still a fake one.
*googles 'Verth'*
... GODDAMNIT!
-
Fairly odd.
-
ive got two friends named devon.
And I remember a girl in senior year whos last name was grandy.
Not trying to harsh your buzz... just sayin'

Well, sure is a surprise. Cool though. But a surprise.
This topic has therefore changed to "How Grandy manages to only create already existing names, anyway?"
I mean:
Devon
Verth
Gailar
Aront (which is a name I made on the spot to test the theory)
Lore (see above)
Astran (see ****ing above)
Ahrne (this is just getting ridiculous, really)
"Volehor" thank goodness I made one that Google knows nothing. But seriously, I had never even heard of these names before writing them down, and all of them, poof, were real.
Bear with me here people, it's hard to think in fantasy names when they're real.
-
Pretty much any quasi-Japanese name is unoriginal. It's when you start moving away from standard spelling and grammar rules that you get some original names.
But it doesn't really matter anyways.

quasi-japanese? Where?

Lore isn't an uncommon name, it's a word commonly used, especially in RPGs. ;P
Also, we have a county called Devon.

...Lore? Really? Man, must be one of those subcouncious thing.

The thing I've come to realize, is it's impossible to make up names that SOUND like names... that aren't actually names.
For example, the weirdest thing happened when I started writing one of my novels. The main character is the blacksmith's apprentice, and the blacksmith's name is Ferrer (which I made up randomly). One day, while bored, I put the name Ferrer into Behind the Name, which came up with a result (surprisingly to me) and Ferrer means... Blacksmith :| What are the chances of THAT?

Yeah, took over Greece awhile ago. Didn't I tell you guys?

I like to pick common names for the main character of my stories. I find it makes them easier to relate to.
Whereas say an ally who is physically much different that the common humanid protagonist...Ill give them a slightly more exotic sounding name.
A full blown inhuman antagonist gets a bizzarre Name. With hyphens and apostrophes.
I dont know why youre so stressed about finding new names. Just pick a cool one that people can easily relate to. it makes for a more believable game.

I'm not. It's just that I aways thought they were unique, but they still work so I won't change them.
It's like receiving only clothes for christmas when you're 9.
-
i guess i never thought of it that way before.

Heh. Hey, remember Andrew78? I tried googling his name. Just see what comes up.
