Title: Problem...
Post by: Prpl_Mage on September 18, 2007, 04:09:09 PM
Well... I was simply scouting arounf the internet for trailers/movies of new games. And then... Horror struck me (mainly it was my own fault and not so sudden...) but anyway.
Everytime I tried to watch a film they said that I had to register in order to download it and all that crap.
But my McAffe told me that there had been spam mails from people registred there so I passed on it like I usually does.

And I click "Watch from browser.", the window changes and there is this long buffering time and then some crappy comercial before a message pops up and say:
"Internet explorer(or something) was unable to play this clip, it seems as if you do not have the latest active X installed on your computer. Click here to download it."

I usually don't click at such things either but it was not the first time the same kind of message appeared, kinda thought that I might as well just download it so I got it overwith.
But NO! I install it and then every explorer window dies on me, I'm like "Wth? Why the- WHat about my clip you cheating bastard?!" And before I knows it, I get this icon down at the blue-thingy-at-the-bottom next to my MSN that looks like this blue MS security shield-thingy... But not only that, no no. Thats just when the talbuk shait begin...

Every once in a while that Icon pops a message about my computer being infected with all kinds of viruses, spywares and trojans. And windows switch to that little pop-up-bubble wich disconacts me from whatever I'm doing every time it does. Really, really annoying...

So here I was like "Just great... I've been on the internet for so long and I haven't downloaded any of this crap untill now." So I try to left click it. I'm just gettign an internet explorer window pop-up wich links me to their web-page in wich they sell this talbuk shait product, or whatever. And I try to right click it, just the same thing...

I uninstall it- it's still there... I litteraly slaps my computer and then dig my way inside my folders to delete the shait's folder only to find myself playing that damn mini-game in zelda...
Yeah... I know. I use my taskmaster to close the program so the files in use can be deleted, but I only have about 0.5 secs to do it before they are renewed and there is this error message saying that "You can not delete this file while the system uses it."
But in the end I succed and the entire folder ends up in my trashcan where it is being emptied. No piece of heart for me but I got rid of it.

Or did I..?

No!

Damn Talbuk shait once again!!

Gah... So now I still has the icon at the bottom bar, sitting there and grinning at me from the other side of the screen. Simply waiting for that wrong moment where he can screw up whatever I'm doing...

Yes I know what you're thinking.
"Why don't you let a virus scan simply locate and elliminate it purple?" Well I'll tell you why.
Because I ain't got no virus scan! Gods!
Long story short... I've already used the free samples Windows offered me, the trails is over.
My McAffe can't scan anymore, I need to renew my freaking licence for another 58.5$! I already bought that shait from you! Let me use my freaking scan!
And this new "windows live core-somthing-thingy" can't be installed because my graphic-card is to old... And once again I'm going all:
"Just wth is a virus scan going to do with my friggin' graphic card?! Does it have improved and über-cool lightning effects?????! I! Just! WANT! MY! FREAKING! SCAN! ALREADY!

So well... I need to either find that god damn file that auto starts the shait and remove it or you guys will give some more experienced advice/ give me a link to a virus program that won't be a biatch about the scans/payment/whatever.

So, thanks for taking your time, that "omg virus!" message appeared 17 times during the 5-10 minutes it took me to write this post.

And help out please. Pretty please.

Well things are looking brighter now. I downloaded a free edition of some virus scan, and then suddenly, out of nowhere...

My McAffe returned from the dead! I can't believe it!

So here I am, with my gitaur, playing the FF fanfare and Gogo chocobo! While waiting for the 2, I repeat. 2(II,two,två,dos,zwei,geh[french-word]) scans running at the moment, it was hard enough to enter Charas like this.

But if noone of them can find that fake-ish program then i don't know what to do... I can't raid Gruul's lair as a healer if WoW is beign closed because of that thing.

Btw, anyone got some sweet/cool tabs for the gitaur? Preferably some game-music or such.

Um df had told me about... house call? I think that's what it's called, it was like an online scanning thing.. Ii think it was for mc.. not sure, google it. I haven't used it in over a year tho so I'm not sure if it's still free.. If anything try googling for some anti-virus stuff and CHECK to make sure it's the real thing before you use it.  :p

Yar, it's called Trend Micro. If you still have problems, go to the website and click on a button somewhere that says Housecall. It might take quite a bit of time to do the scan, but it works pretty darn well. And is free.

Or you could just boot in safe mode and delete the files as well as the entry in the startup folder so it doesn't start up when you run windows.

And after some hours, me and my two eliminators are done, not only did we bring that fake-virus scan aka trojan horse down.
We also found a couple of nifty viruses and malwares on the computer as well.

Pretty neat actually.

Yeah, so thanks for your help. Really appreciated but I managed to defeat it own my own.

I will now return to not-clicking the weird stuff on the internet and have some daily scans.

And I think I might just make a new rpg... Me, Ifrias Hellpush Tesfire and Big Bad Bob looked quite cool together... But not now, I got too much stuff to do already.

*plays song of time* Sigh, if only it worked...
